Guest mormonmusic Posted December 3, 2009 Report Posted December 3, 2009 Just curious -- how is your online/forum personality different from your face-to-face personality? Or is it the same? This site has shown me I'm not funny when I post online, but throughout my life, everyone has told me I have a good sense of humor. Quote
Dravin Posted December 3, 2009 Report Posted December 3, 2009 Just curious -- how is your online/forum personality different from your face-to-face personality? Or is it the same? This site has shown me I'm not funny when I post online, but throughout my life, everyone has told me I have a good sense of humor.Delivery can make all the difference, and audience, it can be a lot harder reading you audience online than off.As far as my personality goes I'm inclined to think them the same with the noted exception of warming up to someone. I can crack a joke at random people online and get all buddy buddy, but in person it takes some time for me to warm up to you. So think of my online persona as all the stuff I'm thinking but not necessarily saying in person. Quote
prisonchaplain Posted December 3, 2009 Report Posted December 3, 2009 In person most people avoid me like the plague. They say I smell funny, look funnier, and we won't even get into how I act. But I can here, and for awhile each day, I seem almost normal. P.S. And watch out for my "live, in-person" temper... Quote
Dravin Posted December 3, 2009 Report Posted December 3, 2009 P.S. And watch out for my "live, in-person" temper...Okay, that just conjured up the image of a chaplain hulking out.Inmate: I think this Jesus stuff is a load of hooey... (devolving into ranting from there.)You: (Reasoned response)Inmate: And your Buick sucks! You: Chaplain Smash!:) Quote
Wingnut Posted December 3, 2009 Report Posted December 3, 2009 Well, my real-life cheekbones aren't as high as my avatar's. Quote
beefche Posted December 3, 2009 Report Posted December 3, 2009 I speak my mind more online. And I don't lick people as much in real life. Quote

Guest Godless Posted December 3, 2009 Report Posted December 3, 2009 I'm better at being funny and illustrious online than in real life. My language is also significantly more PG/PG-13 here than it is in real life. Quote

WmLee Posted December 3, 2009 Report Posted December 3, 2009 I'm taller and much better looking online. I feel like I can "talk" and be listened to here, (that doesn't always happy in real life). I can edit and rethink what I 'say' here, then do a spell and grammer check so i can sound more gooder. Quote
Guest Godless Posted December 3, 2009 Report Posted December 3, 2009 Meaning your real-life language is more G-rated or more R-rated?Definitely more R-rated. Quote
ToleranceGirl Posted December 3, 2009 Report Posted December 3, 2009 I don't speak very much in face-to-face situations as I find I usually will end up accidentally insulting someone. Online I have time to think out my responses. Fewer hurt fellings this way. Quote
pam Posted December 3, 2009 Report Posted December 3, 2009 I speak my mind here and far too much in person I'm afraid. Both ways have gotten me into trouble more times than I want to admit. Quote

Guest xforeverxmetalx Posted December 3, 2009 Report Posted December 3, 2009 I'm way more talkative and open online than in person... also online I've been mistaken for a native German speaker multiple times, in real life I can't get much further than ordering McDonalds and saying I don't drink. need to fix that. pam Posted December 3, 2009 Report Posted December 3, 2009 Are you crumbly in person? I do tend to crumble in some situations. Quote
bytor2112 Posted December 3, 2009 Report Posted December 3, 2009 I am not nearly as nice in person...but MUCH better looking! Quote
Tarnished Posted December 3, 2009 Report Posted December 3, 2009 I am pretty similar online to how I am in person. In person I am rather quiet, talk rarely, often think of saying things and don't because I don't feel comfortable doing so, and am introverted in such a way that it is difficult for me to make many friends. I also tend to have a rather dry sense of humor. Online I am quite similar, I often delete posts after having typed them out because I don't feel comfortable saying what I just wrote out. I have become more open about what I share in this forum because I do feel pretty anonymous. I find it difficult to act like someone I am not whether I am interacting with people online or in person. Hitower Posted December 3, 2009 Report Posted December 3, 2009 I am the same online as I am in person. Speak before I think is my motto! lol Quote
Kawazu Posted December 3, 2009 Report Posted December 3, 2009 If I told you the difference between my personality and my online persona, wouldn't that spoil the persona? :) Quote
