Mahone Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 That's what it was. I know it was something to do with memory. But whatever they were doing killed the server.... and this server is in a datacentre? wow. Any web hosts here would be hung, drawn and quartered if they let a website stay offline for that long Glad we got it back though - giving up cold turkey is not good Quote
pam Posted December 31, 2009 Author Report Posted December 31, 2009 Well keep in mind..this is a not for profit foundation. Not a business that would have money and resources for that sort of thing. Quote
pam Posted December 31, 2009 Author Report Posted December 31, 2009 Glad we got it back though - giving up cold turkey is not good that's why you need to use facebook.. Lots of us kept in touch even with the site down. Quote
beefche Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 that's why you need to use facebook.. Lots of us kept in touch even with the site down.Unless you work for an evil corporation that blocks FB and I can't access it unless I'm home....With .net down I actually had to work during the day! I got so much done that my supervisor asked me if I had an extra dose of Mountain Dew. Quote

Not a business that would have money and resources for that sort of thing.Lol, don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to blame anyone at the moregoodfoundation here. It was more of a tongue-in-cheek comment that datacentres normally have redundancy of some kind for all websites as a given, regardless of which hosting package they have. We do have a webhost in the UK called fasthosts which made the same mistake... I don't think they'll ever get rid of their negative image online now. Click here to understand what I mean. Quote
ozzy Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 I'm glad its back. I have been curled up in my little corner of Idaho sobbing. Quote
Moksha Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 Especially an angry knitting needle bearing Texan. I think knitting needles should first obtain a permit before bearing Texans, otherwise we might end up listening to the aftermath on the evening news. Quote
Guest mirancs8 Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 (edited) Seriously! I even emailed them cause I was like OK a few hours but this is to much for one person to take LOL! I was starting to talk to my computer... "come on you can do it" LOL! Wow! Plus at work the evil people block facebook so typing things out on my blackberry is just to much (plus it's limited). Any who I'm just glad to see it back. I was checking like every 30 minutes! You would think I had some sick addiction or something LOL! Edited December 31, 2009 by mirancs8 add Quote

If after 10 posts you felt the need to email them, I'd hate to see what kind of withdrawals you have after a couple thousand posts under your belt. Quote
Guest mirancs8 Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 That's what was so bad about it PAM LOL! I mean really I've never gotten that way over a forum going down. I think because this forum feels more cozy? Plus my job isn't that exciting and business is slow so I have to kill time LOL! Quote
pam Posted December 31, 2009 Author Report Posted December 31, 2009 Oh so now we're a kill time kind of forum? So you come to talk to us only when you are bored. hahahahaha Just having to tease ya. Quote
RanMan Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 Okay admit it...who had major withdrawals?I did. In fact, it lead me to post twice at the forum I previously participated at. I hope this doesn't happen again. Quote
pam Posted December 31, 2009 Author Report Posted December 31, 2009 What? You went to another site???? Quote
LostSheep Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 I would NEVER go to another site . I ALWAYS get my fix here. You think I'm a lost sheep normally, you should've seen me the past few days. Glad it's back up. ps. I missed the awesome person of the week due to this...Too late now. Quote
miztrniceguy Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 I think it was my email to moregoodfoundation, because within 2 hours they had it back up and running. I must have spurred them into action. I am sure they didn't a MiztrNotSoNiceGuy on their hands! :) :) :) Quote
stormwitch Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 Now I know what hell is like... no contact, no idea how to find out what is going on, being absolutely lonely on this planet... Quote
Hemidakota Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 Okay admit it...who had major withdrawals?I asked Richard he needed any help.... Quote
Hemidakota Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 Before I forget, it was a meaningful time in not logging on. I actually spent most of time in study the Mayan/Enoch/and other round and long calendars p[see John Pratt work for further clarity]. So in the end, I am glad it was down for hard maintenance and repairs. It gave me the opportunity to be fully instructed. Quote
talisyn Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 I did. In fact, it lead me to post twice at the forum I previously participated at. I hope this doesn't happen again. I had to go to another LDS site. It was depressing I'm so glad this is back up! I missed people Quote
Relentless Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 I only realized it was down yesterday, and it made for a VERY LONG workday. But, now I am glad to be back and stirring up trouble... Quote

Who wants a dog licking their screen? Especially when you have such a wonderful cow who can do it in 2 licks flat. That little creature takes too long.... Quote

Wingnut Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 I'm sooooo not a pet person, so I actually found it really repulsive and disgusting, but I thought from one screen-licker to another, you would appreciate it, beefche. :) Quote
