FunkyTown Posted January 13, 2010 Report Posted January 13, 2010 All right, so I've decided that I want to become Gleek: One of the hordes of nerds who love the show Glee. I have seen adverts for it but it is, alas, only available in the US. Does anyone know where I can purchase the first season? The UK, sadly only has had 1 episode. Quote
pam Posted January 13, 2010 Report Posted January 13, 2010 I dislike that show tremendously. Yet I know there are many that love it. Quote
Connie Posted January 13, 2010 Report Posted January 13, 2010 *waving her hand and using her immense Jedi powers* You do not want to become a Gleek. You want to go home and rethink your television show choices. You will then come to the conclusion that Merlin is the mostest awesomest show ever. You will then send Connie a US version edition of the entire first season. Quote
WmLee Posted January 13, 2010 Report Posted January 13, 2010 Funky ~ I'm going out on a limb here but I say it first, I like Glee! It's like a corney Stake Road Show that just doesn't end. I know the story line isn't what you would find at a church show, but the music is good, there is talent, and I like it. I may be the only one in the house that does, but dog-gone it, I'm the man of the house and that show will be DVO'd until I have time to sit and watch it!! Quote
Wingnut Posted January 13, 2010 Report Posted January 13, 2010 I love Glee! My sister spent several weeks this Summer in the UK, and wasn't able to watch several of her shows, but she found a site that worked over there that pirated lots of them and you could watch them streaming. It's low-ish quality, but that was how I caught up on Glee when I finally started watching (6 or 7 episodes in). I can't remember the site right now, because I didn't bookmark it, but I sent her an email. I'll let you know when she writes back. Forgive my ignorance, but can't you just buy the DVD on Amazon or something, if you're looking to buy it? Quote
Wingnut Posted January 13, 2010 Report Posted January 13, 2010 Just heard back from her -- that was quick!TV-Dome : Your Movie and TV Headquarters Quote
KayCee Posted January 14, 2010 Report Posted January 14, 2010 I've watched a few episodes of Glee and while I kinda like the offbeat humor to it, we really don't watch it much since I don't think it's appropriate for my kids. That being said, we LOVE LOVE LOVE the music. So while we don't watch the show, we do buy the music from iTunes. Some of my favorites songs from Glee are "Defying Gravity" and "Don't Stop Believing". Wingnut Posted January 14, 2010 Report Posted January 14, 2010 Ugh, I hated the Glee version of Defying Gravity. Probably because in the show (but not on the CD) Kurt misses the high note (on purpose) and it's just weird to hear a guy sing it, even if he does sing soprano. I love Sweet Caroline, Dancing with Myself, and Alone. Quote
Bini Posted January 14, 2010 Report Posted January 14, 2010 Lol..I'll admit that I enjoy watching Glee. I'm usually not taken by shows with mass chaos and trauma-drama but it's become a guilty pleasure of mine. I even got hubby to sit down with me and watch all the episodes. And it hasn't driven him crazy :] My mum on the other hand, absolutely hates the show. Quote
Lbybug Posted January 14, 2010 Report Posted January 14, 2010 i love glee!!! i also listen to both cd's non-stop. i am 100% a gleek. and proud of it Quote
havejoy Posted January 15, 2010 Report Posted January 15, 2010 That show takes place in my home town. sigh Quote
Misshalfway Posted January 15, 2010 Report Posted January 15, 2010 I wanted to like Glee. But its too dirty for my taste. This is one of those circumstances where a good idea gets ruined by too much muck. Quote
RipplecutBuddha Posted January 16, 2010 Report Posted January 16, 2010 I wanted to like Glee. But its too dirty for my taste. This is one of those circumstances where a good idea gets ruined by too much muck.It is rather disheartening to see a great idea with tons of potential get ruined by the immediate desire to sink to cheap gutter-style humor.Going there sadly IMHO displays the writer's lack of true creativity. After all, Bill Cosby spent his entire stand-up career doing excellent family friendly humor...If he can do it, why can't many others figure it out too? Quote
coral Posted January 16, 2010 Report Posted January 16, 2010 i want to watch this too, it looks awesome Quote

Maybe it was his comedic style I just wasn't feeling? I don't know. But he always managed to get my dad chuckling. When is Glee coming back anyway? Quote
JohnnyRudick Posted January 17, 2010 Report Posted January 17, 2010 Has anyone seen Glee? . . .No Quote
Maureen Posted January 17, 2010 Report Posted January 17, 2010 My kids and I dutifully watch Glee. I love the show but I'm not too fanatic that I can remember all the songs that have been sung. I recommend it Funky but I don't think it's on DVD yet. And it doesn't come back till April. M. Quote
