Latter Days Guy
Just wondering with so many high profile/famous people being part of the Church how do they go about attending Church? Do they attend regular wards with all their bodyguards etc or is there special sessions held for them? Do the likes of the Osmonds and US sports stars etc just mingle with the ordinary people of the Church?
Bini
Elizabeth Smart may not be a celebrity but her case has made her high profile. I would imagine she attends a regular ward, just like the rest of us, I know she does her shopping like the rest of us. About a month ago or so, I literally bumped into her and her husband shopping at our local Costco. No bodyguards, no red carpet. I have seen non-famous people but rich, attend church with a bodyguard nearby.
annewandering
If they cAn not attend without disruptions then we have a problem and it is us. Mostly I would hope they are allowed to just attend and not be bothered. I have heard that many politicians are in the same ward in washington dc which probably helps them to just worship normally. In boise, while they may not be particularly famous, a large number of representatives do attend the same ward there while in session or on business in boise. Suzie
If they cAn not attend without disruptions then we have a problem and it is us.For what I heard, the missionaries at the MTC were constantly asking David Archuleta for autographs and pictures. I am guessing they were told to knock it off. Most are pretty young. :) Need to learn better manners. :)

Anddenex
They attend regular wards and hold callings. Sean Bradley, NBA player, attended a regular ward in Texas. I worked with a person and Sean was his young men's president or advisor. The young man thoroughly enjoyed it.

Backroads
My neighbor's sister attends the same ward as Stephanie Meyer. Apparently that's not too big a problem.
annewandering
My neighbor's sister attends the same ward as Stephanie Meyer. Apparently that's not too big a problem.but apparently exciting enough for her to tell everyone about it. ^^ I actually had a home teacher who is quite famous in certain circles. Definitely in environmental circles. They hated him. lol. We hardly ever saw him though since he is now in government, fighting his battles in state congress for a time. I guess he is different though since I remember when he was a little boy in grade school and so does everyone else here.

Windseeker
Danny Ainge (basketball) was in my ward in Oregon but I moved to Washington shortly after he joined it. Currently we have a famous (in music circles) snow bird who joins our ward each winter. In their hayday he used to breakfast with the Beatles everyday, knows the Rolling Stones on first name basis and lots of other famous musicians. He spends winters at his Florida home and the rest of the time in his home in England. No bodyguards or anything. Just normal members. Echo2002
Being in Nashville we have a lot of musicians and song writers in our wards. Most of them we've known since before they were famous, so it's no big deal for them to attend church. Dan Truman (Diamond Rio) was our ward piano player before anyone knew who Diamond Rio was. I've seen first hand how long it can take for someone to get their big break in the music business. I always laugh when I hear of members moving from out West to Nashville to work in the industry. I ask them if they have a back up plan, because most of the guys I know it took them years to make a name for themselves. All that hard work paid off. A couple of years ago we did get one of the Osmond sons as a missionary. I'm not sure who his father was.
Backroads
Does Stephanie Meyers live in az? Does that mean you live in AZ?I live in az so i was just wondering, lolI live in Utah. Neighbor's sister lives in AZ. I don't know if she is still in Meyer's ward, now that I'm thinking about it, but a year or so ago Neighbor's daughter was bragging about her aunt getting her an autograph and Neighbor explained the connection. ZionsRodeVos
More than 7 years ago I was in the same ward that Senator Orrin Hatch attended (at least when he wasn't in Utah). If he had body guards there, they were dressed for church and did not stand out. My guess would be he didn't have body guards there.
Vort
I was in an elders quorum with Jimmy Page, Tony Iommi, and Steve Martin. 50 Cent visited one week. Good discussion, on the dangers of popular music. Steve played the banjo for us. He's pretty good.

kgrigio
About a decade ago I attended a ward outside of Seattle where my sister-in-law and her family lived. During the opening song my BIL leaned over to me and asked if I knew who was leading the music. I didn't and he then told me it was the lady who wrote the song "Popcporn Popping". She didn't have any bodyguards that I could see. Edited July 24, 2012 by kgrigio
