mikbone Posted May 14, 2013 Report Posted May 14, 2013 If you had to pick what you think are the most important virtues what would they be. Im my opinion, the most important are humility and work ethic. Quote
Jenamarie Posted May 14, 2013 Report Posted May 14, 2013 I'll ditto Eowyn and say integrity, and tack on love. Quote
Seminarysnoozer Posted May 14, 2013 Report Posted May 14, 2013 Empathy. That is what is required to love your neighbor as your self. That is the virtue that allowed our Savior to know our sins and pay for them. And, I believe, that is the method by which glory can be given vicariously. Just like when your own child does well in school, there is a joy that is had more than if another child did well, that feeling of joy is through the level of empathy one has for their own children. Eternal joy is obtained in a similar way. Quote
Guest Posted May 14, 2013 Report Posted May 14, 2013 All of themThat's why I answered Love. Love encompasses all of them. Quote
mikbone Posted May 15, 2013 Author Report Posted May 15, 2013 Without work ethic (diligence) what is love, integrity or compassion? I have known many people who view themselves as virtuous in ideal (love, compassion, etc), but without the action to back it up it isn't really functional. All hat and no cattle. Show me a man with godly humility and work ethic and I see the making of something great. Quote
pam Posted May 15, 2013 Report Posted May 15, 2013 Well you did ask us what were OUR ideas of important virtues. Are you wanting to debate the work ethic that you chose because no one else mentioned it? I agree it's important but you did ask our most important virtue. Quote

I assumed that this thread would do so.Im suprised no one mentioned charity. Based on Moroni 7: 42-47 Quote
Jenamarie Posted May 15, 2013 Report Posted May 15, 2013 Well, love IS the first *and* second great commandment. Quote

Based on Moroni 7: 42-47I just was about to.. Without charity you are nothing. Without Charity you cannot enter into the celestial kingdomFaith, Hope, And Charity is all one needs. The rest fall into place.Faith leads to Charity, Hope comes from living faith and gaining charity. Also Charity increases by gaining hope.... Than you will at some point gain a perfect faith. Quote
ElectofGod Posted May 15, 2013 Report Posted May 15, 2013 Charity is different than Love too. It involves love but there is more too it. Its the pure love of Christ. Though Love is a sealing force of heaven. Quote
Jenamarie Posted May 15, 2013 Report Posted May 15, 2013 This whole conversation has a very "chicken or egg" feel to it. Quote

pam Posted May 15, 2013 Report Posted May 15, 2013 Why don't we just mention all of the virtues in the 13th Article of Faith? Quote
Magen_Avot Posted May 15, 2013 Report Posted May 15, 2013 All of themWe could just quote RipplecutBuddha Quote
Anddenex Posted May 15, 2013 Report Posted May 15, 2013 PC is correct, Charity is the only virtue which states, if you have not you are nothing. A person may have faith, hope, patience, etc..., but without charity they are nothing. Quote
skalenfehl Posted May 15, 2013 Report Posted May 15, 2013 Charity. Without charity, I am nothing. If I am found with charity at the last day, it shall be well with me. Edit: looks like it's already been mentioned, in which case, I agree! :) Quote
