pam Posted October 26, 2013 Report Posted October 26, 2013 I need some help: Need some fill ins for this: You are an old Mormon if you..... I've come up with things like 1. You remember meetings on Sunday being in the morning and the afternoon. 2. You went to green and gold balls. 3. You watched Johnny Lingo on filmstrip. 4. You were able to name all of the temples. skippy740 Posted October 26, 2013 Report Posted October 26, 2013 5. Have a Book of Mormon with the Angel Moroni on the cover6. "Who-oo unto Jesus" instead of "Who unto the Savior" in How firm a foundation7. Knew Pam when she was growing up. Quote
pam Posted October 26, 2013 Author Report Posted October 26, 2013 Oh yeh...I have #5 on my list. :) Quote
Guest Posted October 26, 2013 Report Posted October 26, 2013 Had volumes of "Especially for Mormons" that you wrote your talks from. Quote
pam Posted October 26, 2013 Author Report Posted October 26, 2013 Okay you guys...seriously I'm doing this for a project so I need this to stay focused. Quote
skippy740 Posted October 26, 2013 Report Posted October 26, 2013 Those are two songs that show that you're "an old Mormon"... so it's on-topic, I promise! :) Quote
pam Posted October 26, 2013 Author Report Posted October 26, 2013 Neither one had anything to do with what I'm asking. Quote
bytebear Posted October 26, 2013 Report Posted October 26, 2013 I remember taking the sacrament in Sunday School. I remember chapels with stages and Stake Centers with baseball diamonds and bleachers in the cultural hall. Roadshows Spencer W. Kimball's gravely voice. Saturday's Warrior. The old blue Hymnal. Quote
Guest Doctrine Posted October 26, 2013 Report Posted October 26, 2013 The Book of Mormon before they put "another testimony of Jesus christ" on it. Quote
Anddenex Posted October 26, 2013 Report Posted October 26, 2013 If your family home evenings used "felt boards" for lessons. Quote
Anddenex Posted October 26, 2013 Report Posted October 26, 2013 If you actually helped raise money and then helped build the chapel. Quote
classylady Posted October 26, 2013 Report Posted October 26, 2013 If you remember going to two sessions of stake conference on Sunday. If you remember going to Primary on a weekday. If you remember adding to your bandelo. If you remember there was a Saturday morning Welfare Session of General Conference. If you remember elaborate mission farewells and homecomings. Quote
classylady Posted October 26, 2013 Report Posted October 26, 2013 Also: If you remember Sacrament meeting lasting for two hours. Quote
Palerider Posted October 26, 2013 Report Posted October 26, 2013 went to MIA as opposed to YM and YW.....and had to recite the 13th article of faith at opening exercises.....went to Sunday School opening exercises and had a practise Hymn before someone gave a 2 1/2 minute talk... Donated pennies on your birthday for the Childrens Primary hospital ...on a side note...surprised Pam didn't mention writing on gold plates back in her day......LOL!!!!! Quote
skippy740 Posted October 26, 2013 Report Posted October 26, 2013 If you were a consultant for the movie 17 Miracles because you were an eye-witness... you might be an old Mormon. If you helped to build the temple... you might be an old Mormon. If you used to be able to count all the temples on one hand... you might be an old Mormon. If you did an Endowment session in the temple that took the entire day... you might be an old Mormon. If you remember when all the General Authorities had facial hair... you might be an old Mormon. bytebear Posted October 26, 2013 Report Posted October 26, 2013 (edited) Well, if we're talking really old, then your grandma was the 17th wife. But how about you had the ward directory on paper, hand typed on a typewriter with lots of penned in updates. You did a progressive dinner as a teen and learned proper table manners. Jennarator Posted October 26, 2013 Report Posted October 26, 2013 You had Seventies in your stake. My dad was one when every stake had them. There were actual cribs in the nursery. You remember when male missionaries went for twenty four months, then eighteen months, then back to twenty four. Quote
Just_A_Guy Posted October 26, 2013 Report Posted October 26, 2013 How about those audio/visual presentations in class where you listened to a tape and every time it "beeped" someone had to advance the film reel to the next slide? Quote

Vort Posted October 26, 2013 Report Posted October 26, 2013 Gave 2½-minute talks in Junior Sunday School. Passed sacrament to Junior Sunday School. Brought the younger siblings to Sunday School in the morning, left them at home when going to afternoon sacrament meeting. You and your spouse paid your ward budget assessment. Quote

Jenamarie Posted October 26, 2013 Report Posted October 26, 2013 Some of these might be *really* old... If you remember when garments went to wrist and ankle. If you remember having to sew your own garments and Temple clothing. If you remember when ALL Endowment sessions were "live" and included moving from room to room. And one my dad shared with me... if you remember having to wear Temple-issued garments when you went to the Temple that laced up the front. Quote
bytebear Posted October 26, 2013 Report Posted October 26, 2013 I don't remember wrist to ankle, but I do remember one piece garments. You remember the LTM not the MTC (The Language Training Mission was in Salt Lake before the MTC was built). Also, before you left on your mission, you all would meet in the Priesthood Assembly room of the Salt Lake temple, where you could discuss and ask anything, including temple related topics. You remember when temples had Priesthood Assembly Rooms (last one to have one was Los Angeles). Quote
