Ironhold Posted January 14, 2016 Report Posted January 14, 2016 The nominations for the 2015 Razzie Awards, honoring the worst in Hollywood, are out. (cursing on one page of nominations) "Paul Blart 2", "Fantastic Four", "Pixels", "Jupiter Ascending", and "Fifty Shades" lead in all categories this year. I never saw Blart or Fifty Shades, so I can't comment on them. But I honestly thought that Pixels was decent enough. I do agree that FF and Jupiter Ascending were duds, though. As it is, I'm surprised that they're choosing to focus solely on these films. We had a *lot* of stinkers last year, like "Blackhat", "Burnt", "Hot Pursuit", "Jem and the Holograms", "Strange Magic", "Krampus", and "The Perfect Guy." Quote
Guest MormonGator Posted January 14, 2016 Report Posted January 14, 2016 I despise Adam Sandler, so I'm glad he's getting Razzies. Goodness gracious I find no other actor more annoying then him. Quote
Guest Posted January 14, 2016 Report Posted January 14, 2016 I saw Paul Blart 2. You can't take this movie seriously enough to give it a Razzie. That's not fair. It's like saying a porno has too much gratuitous sex. Yeah, that's kind of the point. Paul Blart must only be seen by someone who does not take anything seriously and just wants a big laugh over something completely ridiculous. He makes fun of himself. There was the "who's more crazy" expectorating contest that I had to rewind multiple times. Big laugh. Quote
Backroads Posted January 14, 2016 Report Posted January 14, 2016 I haven't heard of most of these. Quote
Ironhold Posted January 14, 2016 Author Report Posted January 14, 2016 I haven't heard of most of these.Be grateful. I'm a movie reviewer, and so I've had to sit through about half of those, plus a number of others. "Pixels" was actually pretty decent if you were in the target audience, but the rest of the nominees that I saw honestly deserve their place. Backroads 1 Quote

Guest MormonGator Posted January 14, 2016 Report Posted January 14, 2016 I can't stand him either. I won't see any of his movies. Oh thank goodness you said that Pam. Being from his pseudo home state I feel like everyone worships that guy. I find him crass, vulgar, obnoxious and worse-just plain not funny. Quote
beefche Posted January 14, 2016 Report Posted January 14, 2016 I'm a pseudo-reviewer. I do it for my friends knowing their tastes in movies. My rating system is: full price (seeing a movie the week it comes out in the evening); matinee price; Redbox price; free on Netflix or when you gets Starz for free on a weekend; don't waste any amount of time ever on this film. Pixels was just ok for me. I hated the first part of it and it wasn't until they actually started "fighting" that it was more interesting. I'm not a Sadler fan either. I liked him on SNL, but once he went solo, his humor was so sophmoric, crude, and just plain stupid. I typically don't see any of his movies and can only think of 2 movies I saw him in: Pixels and Bedtime Stories. I tried to watch the Grown Ups movie, but couldn't get past the first 20 min. Quote
Ironhold Posted January 14, 2016 Author Report Posted January 14, 2016 I used to think that'd be a great job until I realized one would have to see most everything. Look at it this way. I had to go watch "Bad Grandpa". Quote
Guest MormonGator Posted January 14, 2016 Report Posted January 14, 2016 Look at it this way. I had to go watch "Bad Grandpa". I actually feel sorry for you Ironhold. I can think of few things worse than having to sit through 90% of movies these days. Quote
Guest Posted January 14, 2016 Report Posted January 14, 2016 Then we have movies like "Napoleon Dynamite". I loved it! Kept laughing throughout the entire thing. Sis. Carb was drained after seeing it. "I just lost two hours of my life! I want it back. You owe me an above and beyond night out next Friday." I stopped laughing...Do women know just how hard it is for men to come up with the "above and beyond" nights out? I can't think of that in a week... Quote
NeuroTypical Posted January 14, 2016 Report Posted January 14, 2016 Napoleon Dynamite: If you're not laughing after the first ten seconds, you won't be laughing at all. Vort 1 Quote
Vort Posted January 14, 2016 Report Posted January 14, 2016 Napoleon Dynamite: If you're not laughing after the first ten seconds, you won't be laughing at all. Yes and no. It took me about 10 minutes to really get into the swing of the movie. At first it was just dumb, but after a while I started seeing the humor underlying the dumbness. NeuroTypical 1 Quote
Bini Posted January 14, 2016 Report Posted January 14, 2016 I agree that you can't take Paul Blart movies seriously, not seriously enough to diss on it because it's not-that-good, of course it's not! It's meant to be pretty dang ridiculous. I still got a good handful of laughs out of it. Quote
Guest Godless Posted January 15, 2016 Report Posted January 15, 2016 I would add 7th Son to that list. Great premise, horrible execution. Quote

Guest MormonGator Posted January 15, 2016 Report Posted January 15, 2016 You know who should have his camera taken away from him until he can use it like a big boy? M Night Shalyman Quote
Guest Godless Posted January 15, 2016 Report Posted January 15, 2016 Speaking of...The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. That's one of those movies that I know I shouldn't like but still kinda do for some reason. The same is true for Death to Smoochy. I can't explain it. Quote
Guest Posted January 15, 2016 Report Posted January 15, 2016 NOOOO!!!! NOT THE LAST AIRBENDER! We were sooooo disappointed with that movie. WE LOVED THE TV SHOW! It had such great potential. And I love the kid in the movie! What a waste. Quote
Guest Posted January 15, 2016 Report Posted January 15, 2016 We loved Paul Blart 2. The more stupid it gets, the more hilarious it becomes. My kids were in stitches... Love Redmayne in Jupiter Ascending. The Step Up guy and the girl had zero chemistry. Zero. Enjoyed Pixels. But then I grew up on Atari. Fantastic Four sucked. Quote
Guest MormonGator Posted January 16, 2016 Report Posted January 16, 2016 I grew up on Atari. . I have the Atari logo tattooed on my upper right shoulder, so I love Atari. I wouldn't watch Pixels at gunpoint. That's your own flaw, Anatess. Adam Sandler? Mall Cop? Really? I'm telling your bishop. Quote
classylady Posted January 16, 2016 Report Posted January 16, 2016 I'm totally out of it. I don't think I've been to a movie theater in about two years. Oh, wait! I take that back. My son took me to see Sponge Bob 2 with his boys. Usually, if I watch a fairly current movie, it's because it's one that's on an airline flight that I'm on. When hubby and I talk about what to do on one of our date nights, there usually is no movie at the theater that we want to spend money on. If something sounds good at the theater, I'm not opposed to going. It's just that lately, I can't seem to get excited about anything that's out there. Quote
