Guest Posted March 23, 2016 Report Posted March 23, 2016 A Professor at University of North Dakota was decided that "guns" carried by ROTC cadets were scary. http://www.grandforksherald.com/opinion/letters/3990525-letter-military-maneuvers-startle-already-stressed-und-campus https://www.sayanythingblog.com/entry/und-professor-threatens-to-call-911-on-every-campus-rotc-drill/ She says that her first thought was for the safety of her students and herself. She grabs a phone and crawls under her desk. She doesn't mention what she tells the students to do. Oh! that's right, she's in her office. There are no students there. Later, after everything is all sorted out, she is told that they really were ROTC cadets performing an exercise WHICH HAD BEEN ANNOUNCED to all faculty and students via email. But she decides that It's highly inappropriate to have such exercises (which she deems unnecessary) on campus. --Where else are they going to have them? It's for students who have other classes to go to after the exercise is over. She's going to call 911 every day for the next few weeks as these exercises take place. --I believe there is a law against that. Why wouldn't they prosecute? I wonder if she'd prefer that we disarm our military as well. Should we disarm our police? Doesn't she really want to live in England? She complains about the school/faculty being under financial attack. How would she feel if the military pulled all funding from UND and its ROTC program taking the students and their tuition away from the school as well? Does this qualify as a special snowflake? Quote
anatess2 Posted March 23, 2016 Report Posted March 23, 2016 Special snowflake poster child. Could you imagine if she finds out her next-door neighbor has a cadre of armaments? David13 1 Quote
Guest Posted March 23, 2016 Report Posted March 23, 2016 (edited) I'd like to know, will she crawl under her desk each time she calls 911? If not, she is not in fear of her life. Therefore, she's making a nuisance call to 911. Edited March 23, 2016 by Guest Quote
mirkwood Posted March 23, 2016 Report Posted March 23, 2016 I used to wonder what one of my libtard professors would think if he knew I had my duty weapon under my shirt in class... David13 and LeSellers 2 Quote

I had a CC permit in NH. I wondered the same thing. I used to laugh when they'd rant about guns. I majored in English, so the leftism was horrifically bad instead of just bad. Quote
Ironhold Posted March 24, 2016 Report Posted March 24, 2016 IMHO, this woman should lose her professorship over this. Not only did she declare that she hasn't been reading the e-mails that are being sent out, she's also declaring that she'll abuse the emergency services system for her own ends. Same Professor saw me about six months after graduation in uniform...and recognized me. I'm sure he was regretting the A I got on that "anti gun cop/military" paper I had written for him. I did the same! That's awesome. Quote
Jamie123 Posted April 6, 2016 Report Posted April 6, 2016 The sight of guns is certainly disturbing when you're not used to seeing them. I remember a few years ago I applied for the job of teaching electronics at an army base: when I arrived at the gatehouse, a soldier got into the car with me for the short journey to the car park, and then led me to where the interviews were taking place. This soldier was just a kid - he looked no more than 16 - and he had A GUN! Now I know full well that soldiers have guns. I also know that this particular soldier NEEDED a gun in this situation. (For all he knew I might have been a terrorist.) But when you've got a 16-year-old kid sitting next to you holding a deadly weapon, I don't think you can be blamed for feeling a bit nervous. But I totally agree this woman is being silly. If these cadets had been rampaging around campus shooting their guns in a wild frenzy she might have had a point, but surely the whole purpose of the ROTC is to train students as soldiers and to use guns responsibly. They have (or at least I hope they have) experienced instructors to tell them what to do, and (I would also hope) severe penalties for doing otherwise. If it is merely the sight of guns which is making this woman object, she is clearly living the unexamined life. Everyone these days is demanding the world conform to their own sensibilities. (I've had spates of it myself: its an easy mindset to get into, especially given a bit of peer-encouragement.) People are always demanding this, or that change because "It's what we want!" Well if that's all it takes, then I want to be given £1,000,000! OK, who's going to give it to me? Sunday21 1 Quote
