Carborendum Posted December 22, 2020 Report Posted December 22, 2020 So a friend invited a bunch of families over for caroling. We practiced a bunch yesterday and we'll be going caroling in open air on Wed night. I found it a bit uncomfortable because I knew different songs than the rest of the group. We all sang most of the Religious carols in the Hymnal. But when we got to the secular carols, I found that everyone wanted to sing the kids songs. No one seemed to know the silver age cinematic carols. And those are my favorites. The Christmas Song It's Beginning To Look a Lot Like Christmas Silver Bells Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas Little Drummer Boy Do You Hear What I Hear? They'd heard of them. But no one knew the lyrics. A lot of them didn't know the whole tunes. Am I really that old? Quote

I’m in my 30’s and not only do I know each of those, they played on my computer TODAY. scottyg and Carborendum 1 1 Quote
Fether Posted December 22, 2020 Report Posted December 22, 2020 I know those songs, but besides the main lines in them, I couldn’t sing them. I do love Christmas, but I do not like the Christmas songs so I have never made much of an attempt to learn them. Quote
dprh Posted December 22, 2020 Report Posted December 22, 2020 I know those songs, and can sing along if they're playing. But those songs don't seem built for caroling . They are more complex and longer than the songs that are popular with the people I've caroled with. Quote
