Still_Small_Voice Posted April 28, 2023 Report Posted April 28, 2023 (edited) April 27, 2023 -- Opinion by Kirk Cameron I’ve been on a cross country book tour for the last five months speaking with families and children across America at public libraries sharing my beliefs about faith, family and country. You may already know that drag queens have been cross-dressing for children and appearing in many of our nation’s public libraries for years. And, you may have heard that I’ve been visiting these same public libraries—those that are willing to host me—and other venues doing my own story hour together with Brave Books. Families have been pouring into my events by the hundreds, even the thousands. When I speak to these people, I share the timeless value of biblical wisdom and the "Fruit of the Spirit" with children and their parents. I warm the room, shine the light by reading stories to spellbound audiences from my new book, "As You Grow." After I conclude my remarks, panicked parents often crowd around, pressing me with hard questions. They are pleading; they earnestly long for a return to wholesome, God-honoring, pro-American values. These people want to know: * "Why is there a seemingly sudden increase in pedophiles, sexual deviants? Why do we have so many amoral—or plainly immoral—educators, school administrators, school boards, politicians, community leaders, and even judges, hell-bent on advancing the sexualization of our innocent children, and pushing perversion into the hearts and minds of the most impressionable among us? * Why are too many of these leaders hiding their aberrant "sex education" and "gender-affirming" curricula from the parents of their students, stripping moms and dads of their rights to determine when and how their children are exposed to sensitive topics in school? NeuroTypical Posted April 28, 2023 Report Posted April 28, 2023 (edited) Why? One answer I've been thinking about, is "this is what humans do every 30-40 years". Consider the "Satanic Panic" of the 1980's. Someone's kid comes home from school with a wild tale about how their teachers are satan worshippers who involve them in ritual abuse. Then someone else's kid says it. As the news goes viral and everyone starts thinking and talking about it, eventually 12,000 kids are all saying similar things, all across the country. There are court cases. Children give testimony. It feeds the news cycle. Eventually, one person says "wait, don't kids just tend to make stuff up?" Then two people say it. Then over a year, we re-discover developmental psychology, realize that we already knew children shouldn't take the stand and swear to tell the whole truth, because their developing brains are often not up to the task in reliable ways. Fast forward to the 2020's. The LGBTQIA+ (or whatever) folks are in full swing. Gaining rights, gaining momentum. Pairing up with ppl who hate the patriarchy and capitalism. Longtime social mores are openly attacked, spread by media. Gender is a spectrum. Biological sex doesn't matter - it's a holdout from colonizer patriarchical power systems meant to keep minorities down. Everyone is scrambling all over themselves to be accepting and open minded. Culture changes. How toys are marketed to kids change. As more and more T's come forward and tell their stories, nice progressive teachers and the govt entities that push curricula on them, educate the kids on how love is love, and ppl are gay, and what gender do you feel like? Drag shows full of twerking men performing sexually explicit actions in front of (sometimes on top of) children, are just another way to teach acceptance and help our kids not be bigots. Now you have changing standards of medical care, with "gender affirming" treatment taking precedence over common sense in some cases. Eventually Elon buys Twitter and shoots the "suppress and cancel voices that go against woke progressivism" movement in the head. Republicans take the house and begin holding hearings. Every state, county, city, and local school board are now having to reinvent the wheel again and figure out what to teach kids. We need to remember basic developmental psychology - when you ask kids what gender they are, they give immature answers, because they haven't developed adult level maturity yet. Smearing the reputation of totally innocent people just to further political goals is absolutely disgusting. I’m glad the truth over it came out though. NeuroTypical Posted April 29, 2023 Report Posted April 29, 2023 Yep - it was right wing Christians back then, and it's left wing heterophobes this time. Ignorance and fear knows no political ideology. LDSGator 1 Quote

We need to remember basic developmental psychology - when you ask kids what gender they are, they give immature answers, because they haven't developed adult level maturity yet. When the "Hogwarts Adventure" video game came out a bit back, a number of more militant transgender rights activists declared that to support the game in any fashion was to literally support "trans genocide" because it was putting money in J. K. Rowling's pocket. As a consequence, anyone who talked about the game on social media found themselves subjected to cyber-bullying from individuals who presumed "plays game = hates people who are transgender". Matters came to a head with a popular virtual idol known as Pikamee. Pikamee had considered playing the game as part of an upcoming charity live-stream, and so a literal horde of these militant activists swarmed the chat of a stream she was doing and began engaging in extreme cyber-bullying. Thing is, the actress who played Pikamee had grown up being bullied for being mixed-race, and the incident caused her to have traumatic flashbacks which were so extreme she tendered her resignation to her talent agency. Around this same time, another virtual idol, Silvervale, was also being subjected to extreme cyber-bullying during her live streams, to the point that the actress actually broke down crying on camera. Large swaths of the internet - including individuals who themselves identified as transgender - mobilized in response to what took place and began pushing back against the militant activists. As I had to explain to someone a day or so back, not only are a lot of people less likely to listen to *any* transgender rights activist now because of what happened, it's become easier to paint any transgender rights activist who even vaguely engages in exaggeration as being "militant" and dismissing them accordingly, like what's going on in Montana. Yes, a number of transgender individuals are now declaring that these activists don't speak for them. LDSGator, Still_Small_Voice, Backroads and 1 other 4 Quote
NeuroTypical Posted April 29, 2023 Report Posted April 29, 2023 Yep. Pushing back against stuff like "gender affirming care at any cost, or your kid will unalive themselves". Lesbians are finding their voices here too. Growing numbers of "detransitioners" - mostly women. Lots and lots of girls who showed an ounce of "I don't like pink", and were bombarded with gender ideology into thinking they were trans. Lots of sad stories of puberty blockers, chemical castration, double-mastectomies on minors, with instant deep regrets. Lots of lifelong medical patients now, women grappling with infertility, loss of singing voice, lots of medical issues. Kind of important stuff to understand out there. Still_Small_Voice 1 Quote

Ignorance and fear knows no political ideology. Yes, but it’s more complicated than that. Now the left has more political power so they’ll be more successful (and more dangerous) but the alarmist right still has good ole’ reactionary “think of the children” panic too. NeuroTypical 1 Quote
