When I was wedding dress shopping with my daughter every one who helped was endowed and understood. The smaller boutiques usually have the best deals. I was not impressed with David's Bridal. Many Utah bride's buy a cap or short sleeve wedding dress and then make or buy a bolero or jacket/sweater to wear in the temple. The following pic is similar to what I usually see at LDS weddings. All that is needed is a white sweater or a long sleeve bolero. edit: I've seen some really gorgeous crocheted sweaters/jackets that compliment the dress nicely.

Just do the best you can. Explain the dilemma to his doctor. Then follow his advice to the best of your ability. However..... I'm on hypothyroid meds and have done a lot of research about when to take them. I've heard first thing in the morning, after eating, before eating, before bed. You name it every doctor has a different opinion. My sister (RN and also hypo) said, just take it the same way every day. With that in mind and if Emerson was mine I would give it to him before he eats and be done with it. Thyroid is a hormone. The most important part is that he gets it and in the same way every time.

New here looking for conversation

welcome. -
I think the talk Pres. Hinckley gave answers the OP's question perfectly.

Thank you Quin. I haven't had a problem in the past talking about my religion with non-member friends online. Most often the discussions come about because they have questions. Those who know me well know I won't be offended if they ask... so they are good about it. Some who ask, then apologize for asking. I hope this time I was the spirit that restrained me. Yes the person who posted that picture is grieving. I understand her grief. I lost a son 14 years ago (age 21 when he died). I know the pain she feels. But... you're right. Today was probably not the day to initiate the conversation.

I saw this on a friends FB page this morning. My first impression was to reply "There is!" I've had experiences in the temple which have been "visiting heaven". Something stopped me. I'm not certain if its a lack of boldness in proclaiming the truth of the gospel or something else. Maybe it was because I don't want to discuss a sacred experience. I don't know. Most of my missionary opportunities are online. But, its difficult for me to discuss deeply spiritual things online. How do you determine when to share your testimony about the gospel, the temple, etc. online.?

yes, but when I read "goodly" I don't think of that meaning because Lehi and Sariah were good as well as blessed with worldly wealth. They taught their children about God.

How do you entertain kids on a boring day?
applepansy replied to applepansy's topic in General Discussion
Me too. My grandson also makes his bed and sweeps he floor. I need to teach him some more jobs. All my kids (except my daughter) learned to cook simple foods by age 8. Things like Campbell's soup or Kraft Mac N Cheese. My boys all know how to make homemade bread...but not my daughter. I don't know where I went wrong there. My grandson loves to bake and he cooks his own eggs (with supervision). Today we also made PlayDough on the stove. That was good for about 1-1/2 hours of fun. :) -

For the most part my grandson happily entertains himself. Being the only child in this house has made it a necessity for him. But... I try to give him learning experiences that keep him occupied for awhile. Especially if I have to do something that really requires my attention, such as balancing the dang check book. -
warm and fuzzy bedside manner doesn't impress me one whit. Knowledge and respect do.

How do you entertain kids on a boring day?

Love the ideas. Thank you. Unfortunately its 15 degrees here this morning and it wasn't much warmer yesterday afternoon. And we're getting getting the storms we prayed for. In warmer weather we often go for walks. We live in a great area for seeing wildlife and all sorts of interesting things. I bought perler beads last year but unless he has a friend over who likes to play with them too I can't get him to play with them for very long. He doesn't have a short attention span actually the opposite for a 6yo boy. But once he thinks he's learned all there is to something he wants to move on. I was actually surprised that he played with the soft dough for so long. It dried out and instead of adding more shaving cream I added water. That was an interesting mixture. It was running but self leveling. When scrapped up off the cookie sheet it looked dry, then would melt into a puddle. But... fascination with that only lasted 30 minutes. I love puppets but he won't play very long with them unless there is another child. He gets tired of talking to himself I guess. thank you again. -
At the beginning. Secondly I like Alma 12....but really the beginning. There is great power is reading the words "Having been born of goodly parents"

Dahlia, I agree with the majority of what you posted. Thank you. But, I'm looking for creative ways to help children be creative. My grandson is 6yo. I use a lot of technology which has him above his grade level in reading. Other children in his Kindergarten class who are using technology are also above grade level in reading. I've changed my mind about the role technology plays. Its for learning in our house, not just play time. I'm looking for creative ways to entertain children. What art supplies do you supply? What types of "flubber" or "play dough" do you make? Its probably different for a Mom with a household full of children versus a grandmaMom with one almost-6yo. -

I think I'll try this next: Homemade Flubber -
Every time I see your name that's what I think of.

Saturday I was baking and cleaning and grandson wanted to help. I'm not grandpa who doesn't clean as he goes so helping grandma wasn't going to work out. I made Foam Dough and enjoyed 2 hours of quiet punctuated with wonderful giggles. What other ways have you used to entertain your children and/or grandchildren that really worked?

Another day another awesome: My hubby shoveled the sidewalk and driveway enough that grandson didn't have to walk in the snow out to the bus...and then a little trail to the driver's side door on the car so I wouldn't either. :) WhooHooo! What's awesome about this is he left to go plow snow at 4am.

I agree with you Vort. Fasting done properly is going without food or drink for two meals. There is nothing to replace it. When a serious issue needs a fast I fast by going without food, drink and meds . . . and then stay in bed. Sacrificing in other ways is not like giving up something for Lent. Which is why I didn't suggest something like no TV or things that don't really have the same impact as a traditional fast. I didn't suggest any sacrifice. Its personal. When and what I might sacrifice is between my Heavenly Father and I which has made it sufficient (Confirmed through prayer and the results). What I sacrifice might not be a sacrifice for someone else or it might not be sufficient in God's eyes for someone else. Again, its personal and for Fast Sunday, it works. Additionally: I struggled with fasting until I listened to Gene R. Cook's talk entitled "Receiving Answers to Prayer." I'm slow. It wasn't until the fourth time I listened that I heard what the spirit was trying to teach me.

Hydrogen peroxide will take out blood. Then soak in Oxiclean. I've never had to throw garments away. Edit: Perimenopause made periods very heavy for me. So pads were a must in addition to tampons. The new pads are so thin and the wings stick down the legs of the garment instead of around the elastic of panties. I thought it worked better because there was never any leakage that wasn't controlled.

Medical Marijuana patient with house guest
applepansy replied to cannamor's topic in General Discussion
Not entirely. We can argue about the word "wholesome" but marijuana is an herb. If used correctly it has its place. Personally I won't use it for my chronic pain. I don't care how much pain I'm in or how much it might help. I know what it does the the brain and I want to be able to think. Back on topic.... to the OP, just explain to your guest. Its legal in your state. You're using it for medicinal purposes. That's the end of it. -
I think it depends on your size. I'm on the larger side and when I tried the Chemise top it would stay down and felt binding. I went back the the original with the seam. It helps hold my garments in place under my breasts. However, friends I have talked to who are smaller prefer the chemise.

Now that is truly awesome! My awesome moment came yesterday while teaching the 14-15 year olds in Sunday Schooi and its a bit personal. I was the substitute but all morning I was going to call someone and not go because I was in a lot of pain. It was particularly bad yesterday and Saturday. But I didn't and I went and I was blessing with about 1/2 hour of pain free while teaching the class. I learned how to make laundry soap.

Fasting is about Sacrifice. I struggled with fasting and my meds for long time. When I put the sacrifice and fasting concepts together I realized there are other sacrifices I can make that while not exactly fasting can bring the Spirit closer. I don't know that I can say if I only eat one cracker with my meds I'm still fasting. Or I only drank enough water to swallow the pills so I'm still fasting. Fasting is refraining from all food and drink. My diliemna was that were my meds enough to say I wasn't fasting. Personally I think they were, but that's just my personal opinion for my circumstances. So... I find other ways to sacrifice.
