broken hearted after husband's infidelity
Madriglace replied to tattered_torn77's topic in Marriage and Relationship Advice
Tattered n Torn ... My dear sister you are already a better person than I am ... I would have kicked him to the curb so fast he wouldn't have bounced on the way. First off find someone to give you a blessing ... no need to say why, just that you feel the need, HF knows your needs and will act accordingly, second get checked by a doctor like you have been urged to do this is so vital, third realize you are loved and follow the spirit, stick close to your faith. You need to think about you and your children at this point, it is obvious your husband hasn't been. For him to say he did it becuase he didn't feel loved is an excuse and keeping it quiet just makes it that much easier for him to continue down his path. Time for him to man up and act like the husband and priesthood holder he is supposed to be. It won't be easy ... for you I am so sorry for this ... for him it is as it should be. Tell someone, talk to your bishop. This is not your fault and you need to set bounaries to protect yourself and your children. Call the temple and put all your names on the temple rolls, all that prayer from all those good people will surley help. My heart goes out to you.- 49 replies

The historical authenticity of the Book of Mormon
Madriglace replied to doss's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
Doss you left out another type of faith 4. Faith supported by personal revelation and confirmation ... true faith. There is eveidence of the Book of Mormon ... however if you don't first have a testimony that it is true then you could be standing right on top of it and you wouldn't see it. I have been there .. I have seen it. The ?Candelabra of the Andes? | Bad Archaeology I don't know if I have done this link right or not but ask any member of the church in Peru and they will tell you that this is not a candelabra (since when did fire come out the sides of a candle?) but the tree of life as depicted in Lehi's dream. It is on the coast of Peru and cannot be seem from land. It is carved into the sand and they have no idea how old it is ... it remains because the wind never touches the ground. Has it been authenticated as proof of the Book of Mormon? No. Do I know that it is? You bet. Becuase I have been given confirmation. Wanting phyisical proof is kind of like everyone wanting to see that movie "The Passion of Christ" (I think that was the name) ... I had no interest in seeing it because I didn't have see the crucifiction happen to know that it did. When you stop fighting what we are saying and simply ask for yourself, you will know. -
What does tha country song say ... I want to go to heaven but I don't want to go today .... way too much family history and temple work to get done. Time is short and I am running as fast as my short little legs will go.

Have any of you in temples seen people in spirit form?
Madriglace replied to mrcharlie's topic in General Discussion
Not a specific happening but at times I feel like the temple is very crowded ... even with only 20 or so in a session. Even though I have seen spirits all my life, while in the temple it is for me emotions ... sometimes they are so overwhelming ... I always make sure to have tissue in my pocket! -
Baptisms for the Dead
Madriglace replied to Searching_For_The_Truth's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
Doing temple work for anyone is special ... but doing it for family goes way beyond special. It brings me to tears each time. A month or so ago I wasa ble to do initiatory for 21 of my ancestors ... at times that room was very crowded. -
This is going to sound weird but ... go to PetEdge.com ... they have the same gates but the prices are better.

Never been married but I am the product of a forever honeymoon ... 62 years and counting. Probably why I never married because I wasn't willing to settle for less than what I saw at home. One thing my brother and I knew from the beginning ... my folks were married to each other ... no matter what the world or us kids threw at them their marriage came and still comes first. And there are only 3 people in that marriage them and the Lord. I get teary watching them hold hands in church or walk up to bear their testimonies holdings hands. The way they cherished their marriage has helped with stand the death of my youngest brother, 5 missions and being the only member family on both sides. For me my strongest memory of childhood was seeing my parents kneeling together, holding hands in prayer ... I don't care who you are ... that is powerful. Keep up the good work and more power to you! The honeymoon doesn't have to end.

Favorite and Least Favorite Doctrines
Madriglace replied to prisonchaplain's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
Favorite LDS doctrine .... Heavenly Father and my Savior know my name. Confusing Christian doctrine: and I am not sure all main stream Christians believe this but original sin. How can anyone hold a perfect child fresh from Heavenly Father and even imagine sin? -
Sacrament and Baptismal Covenants Questions
Madriglace replied to ihaveaquestion's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
We are saved by grace but it is up to us to work out our exaltation (sp?) Everyone is saved however how we endure to the end will determine (for the lack of a better word) the destination. How is justice satisfied if someone works everyday of their life following the Master and the next door neighbor is a slouch and still goes the same place? Our works will be taken into account. -
Sacrament and Baptismal Covenants Questions
Madriglace replied to ihaveaquestion's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
I guess the difference is in how one looks at the difference in "washed clean" and "can become clean". Baptism and the temple ceremony "wash us clean" as in we return to our original state when we left HF. The sacrament helps us to "become clean" ... as in after we accept the atonement we are responsible to work toward our salvation, knowing that there is no way that we can completely avoid sin and that we are saved by grace after all we can do. Also realizing that there is no way we can be perfect in this life but that as long as we are better today than yesterday we have done our best. And as to those who don't have the opportunity to know and accept ... that is why we do proxy temple work ... so they will have the chance. The plan is wonderful. And Hi Jolly ... if you don't like my spelling ... tough noogies!:) -
One thing to do is be sure to stress that we do this work because we believe in families being together forever but that it is totally up to the person to accept or reject ... if they don't want it itis not binding on them.

Sounds to me like she was not happy that her work wasn't being done. Does your husband have 1/2 siblings that he can get permission from? Doing work for family is so wonderful. Saturday I am doing work for a grandmother born in 1582 ... she is sealed to her parents but her work was never done ... when I did the initiatory she was there and so excited. Good luck ... this lady wants her work done ... maybe she will be able to soften the heart of who ever is asked for permission.

Sacrament and Baptismal Covenants Questions
Madriglace replied to ihaveaquestion's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
However to be "washed clean" (being spotless, pure as the day we were born) this only happens in 2 places ... not while taking the sacrement. During the sacrement we remember, renew and promise to do better. Other than the 2 places I spoke of we are completely responsible for our actions when we accept the atonement. There was a thread awhile back discussing someone wanting to be rebaptised ... it was brought up there that it would be just going through the motions because esentially there are no do overs ... there are just 2 times we can return to the state that we had when we left HF ... the rest is up to our acceptance of the atonement and working through repentance and forgiveness. This doesn't make me sad it gives me so much hope and fills me with the love our HF and our Savior have for us. They gave me a fresh start and are now helping me home. My greatest wish is to have my Savior wrap me in His arms and tell me "Well done". -
Is this forum representative of the what I can expect at church?
Madriglace replied to cwald's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
People are people ... none of us are perfect ... the best of us see that and are working like crazy to get closer to perfect while admitting that we will never make it here on this earth. I admit that the contention that some times crops up bothers me ... there is no place in the Gospel of Christ for contention (check the footnotes for the replacement word in the scriptures). May I make 2 observations and then I will get back to work .... First you get out of the church what you put in to it ... if you look for bad that is what you will find, but if you go in with a good attitude and proceed on the assumption that these are great people that is what you will find. Second ... you cannot be offended unless you allow it ... too many people in the church look for something to give them an excuse to leave ... and they are hurting who???? Themselves ... because as someone said earlier the person who offended you may have no clue that what was said or done was offensive to you. I know that they didn't get up today thinking ... OK let's see, what can I do to offend ..... We are here to serve our brothers and sisters ... if you choose to join us and come in with that attitude we all gain and grow from your contribution ... if you choose to be offended and leave ... you loose. Together we are strong ... alone we are just that ... alone. -
Sacrament and Baptismal Covenants Questions
Madriglace replied to ihaveaquestion's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
I have to speak up here ... taking the sacrement does not wash us clean again ... that happens only at baptism and at one point in the temple. And by washinhg clean I mean that we become as clean as when we were born only at these 2 times. We take the sacrement to remember the covenants we made at baptism and helps us be able to work harder to maintain our repentance process and continue to grow. If the sacrement did in fact wash us clean each time there would be no point in working to live the commandments when all we had to do was take the sacrement. While we can repent and turn our lives around and leave sin behind we are still subject to the consequences of our actions. -
The literal gathering of the lost tribes
Madriglace replied to cwald's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
A friend reported that her entire family (herself, husband adn children) were all from Ephrium except one sone was from Dan ... very interesting. The gathering started with the restoration of the gospel and continues full speed today. More and more you hear of the different tirbes being represented in the the blessings. Growing up I was taught in church classes and seminary that in the last days the bulk of the lost tribes would come from the north and go to the temples and that they would have first access to the temples to complete their work. Fanstastic ... yes ... unbelievable ... for me no. Not sure how to verify but I am going forward on that assumption and doing my temple work for my family as fast as possible. -
Got in a big fight last night and feel terrible!
Madriglace replied to girlygirl's topic in Marriage and Relationship Advice
WOW ... your husband kept after you to find out what was wrong ... that sounds like love to me ... that man is a keeper. -
I have always joked that I would still be in Nauvoo ... but really I have always hoped I would have been and if it comes to that would be like Sister Bathgate and Sister Parks who came west with the Willie company ... they were walkers and in their late 50's and made it all the way on foot except for a short ride when they were injured. Or Jane Manning who walked 1100 miles to get to the saints in Nauvoo. True women of God wih unshakeable faith. So ... if you were told to pack and leave for Missouri what would you do? Our circumstances may be different but he possiblilty exists. Give me time to pack and I am gone.

Foriegn exchange to Mexico/TESOL certification
Madriglace replied to lizzy16's topic in Advice Board
Mexico is fabulous ... my folks spent their last mission in the Cuernavaca Mission. However of serious concern right now is the saftey factor. Mexico is not safe ... for anyone at this time and north Americans are especially at risk. Check everything out very carefully from a safety stand point and then if you decide to go make a plan to not be on the streets alone and never out after dark. It is sad that these wonderful people are living in such fear. I have a friend who's daughter married a guy from Curenavaca ... they went for a wedding fiesta thinking all was well, they came back with horror stories and word that the locals are for the most part scared to death. Their hostess did allow them out of the house alone at any time. -
It is a sign of the times ... can't remember the chapter and verse but something about the hearts of men will wax cold. Any doubt that we are in the last days?

Over 30's Singles Ward - How do I find one?
Madriglace replied to SweetAugust's topic in Advice Board
That I know of the sinlge adults (30+) don't have wards of their own ... at least not that I have ever heard of. WE have a home evening group in our ward ... the only active one in the stake. We have on average about 10 every week. Get involved in your own home ward ... maybe ask the Bishop for a calling ... I am single, never had kids and teach the 14-18 yr olds in Sunday school. That gives me my kid fix but sometimes makes me need a nap on Sunday! -
Advice for a convert dating a lifetime member?
Madriglace replied to cecilyhallward's topic in Advice Board
As of the 14th when you came out of the water that was all gone ... your guy being a member should realize that ... if the Savior paid for it and doesn't remember it .... well?????? Tell him if you choose but YOU need to remember you were as clean as the day you were born on that day. Congratulations! -
"If you love me , keep my commandments" ... how much more simple can it get????? The gospel is beautiful in it's simplicity ... we make it hard. The Savior taught in a way that everyone could understand ... those that didn't refused to see. Many people like to question down to the smallest ion and that is fine for them ... for me it doesn't get me any closer to my celestial goal so why give myself a head ache? It is not that I am not a deep thinker but that I choose to channel my energy to where it is most profitable for me.
