  1. Here is the manual for performing baptism. https://www.lds.org/manual/duties-and-blessings-of-the-priesthood-basic-manual-for-priesthood-holders-part-b/priesthood-and-church-government/lesson-5-performing-priesthood-ordinances?lang=eng
  2. Deseret Book has some nice paintings, with decent framing. The selection is slim though. I saw this painting at the Nauvoo cafe in Salt Lake, and really love it.
  3. I was in Springfield,Nashua, NH, Plymouth, Brockton, a tiny little town called Athol (Gardner Ward), and had an apartment off Batterymarch St (between Faneuil Hall and the aquarium). This was years before the big dig, so I have no idea what that area is like now.
  4. Boston, MA
  5. The sealing is a covenant between three people. Husband, Wife and God. Either the husband or the wife pr both can break their covenant. God, of course will not.
  6. Yes, but Bane wanted to take money from the rich and promised to redistribute it to the poor. Same thing Bernie Sanders promised. Same thing that most Democrats promise these days. But they never deliver. Sure they take from the rich (and the middle class) but that money rarely makes it back down to the people. When Trump talks about giving power to the people, I am hoping he means he will shut down government programs that the States and local communities can do. And reduce Federal taxes, which are used to "promote" things like education, clean air, roads, emergency bailouts, but it seems more fair that we are taxed directly, and our taxes used directly for schools, clean air, roads, and emergency funds. No Federal government needed. That is my hope anyway.
  7. and the commentary by CNN and MSNBC is insane. No really, like truly loony toons.
  8. A protestor holds a sign not a rock. And I am big on free speech, even if it's offensive to me or anyone else. As to Trump, the only thing I would have changed was the word "wealthy' to "prosperous" because it implies more than just money, and is less greedy sounding. I thought the most promising line was: ... today we are not merely transferring power from one administration to another, or from one party to another -- but we are transferring power from Washington, D.C. and giving it back to you, the American People
  9. I thought the message was "If you could change your past, to avoid future pain, would you?" It just did it in a very roundabout way, using alien communication as a way to move the story. That's the best explanation I can give without spoilers.
  10. I like the retro nostalgia, but for quality of music, give me HD digital any day.
  11. My guess is the people handing it out work in the tobacco industry. I can't imagine any other reason for this.
  12. I agree with God is akin to infinity. If a person becomes God, it's just infinity + 1. There is still only one God. But I do think that when speaking in scripture, He is referring to God the Father, a specific individual whom they relate. When He says there are no other gods, He isn't referring to exalted perfected persons who are one with God. He is referring to Ra, Isis, Odin, and Zeus.
  13. The Spirit of God Like a Fire is Burning. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Spirit_of_God_Like_a_Fire_Is_Burning#Lyrics_and_commentary It's a great testimony of the greatness of the restoration,. And it has an awesome Hosanna shout.
  14. I agree with the first response. Just treat her like a child, and say, you can do what you want, but we're doing this. Take it or leave it. And then ignore her protests. A friend of mine was like this on just about everything. What movie to see, what tv show to watch, what restaurant to eat at, where to sit in the restaurant, etc etc... So I learned to just force him to adjust to the situation. Honestly, I don't think it's just about the church, but that does make an easy agitator. But she seems to get a thrill out of forcing you to her will and to see how far you will compromise to appease her. So, the best thing is to give clear choices, and let her choose.
  15. No, you become one family. The word "family" is a singular that represents multiple persons. Similarly the word "God" represents a singular entity that is not a single person.
  16. No, I believe the scriptures, which are very clear on the subject.
  17. So, then God as defined in Doctrine and Covenants 20:28 and 2 Nephi 31:21 is a three headed, six armed person? No, God as described in scripture is three persons distinct and physically separate. We are not trinitarians. There is no mystery here. God is not single individual.
  18. No, I'm not. the word "God" is commonly used to refer to the Father, but when we talk about becoming Gods, we aren't talking about becoming God the Father, so in the context of this discussion, your point is moot.
  19. Game night potluck with family and friends.
  20. Depends on context, but I still say God does not exclusively refer to the Father, or a single person.
  21. No, God the Father is a person. God is a collection of persons. Doctrine and Covenants 20:28 28 Which Father, Son, and Holy Ghost are one God, infinite and eternal, without end. Amen. 2 Nephi 31:21 21 And now, behold, my beloved brethren, this is the way; and there is none other way nor name given under heaven whereby man can be saved in the kingdom of God. And now, behold, this is the doctrine of Christ, and the only and true doctrine of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, which is one God, without end. Amen.
  22. Replace the word "God" with "Ward" and "Godhead" with "Bishopric" and "gods" with "members" and you will see that our church is established with the same order as heaven, from the First Presidency down.
  23. Again, you are describing Jesus Christ. Not the Father and not the Son. God is contextually ambiguous. As was said earlier, the Son can speak as the Father but both are God, yet, separate persons.
  24. Yes, you pray to God the Father. You don't pray to God the Son or God the Holy Ghost. You pray to one person who shares the same state of being as the other two.
  25. God is a state of being, not a person. God is a singular that represents a plural. We will be in the family of God. We will be family. We will be God. There is one family. There is one God. Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost are three exulted persons who are God. There is one God. The state of being is defined in D&C 132:20 We are "gods" in that we currently have no end (we haven't been damned... yet). And we have the potential to have all power and have angels subject to us. But most of us aren't even close to that kind of spiritual fortitude, but we are promised that with faith we can move mountains, so the potential is in us.
