go to LDS.org and click on Gospel Library......go down to church publications....and click on html text.......then click on magazines....at top of page in the Quick search....type in Family Prayer....then click on Ensign in the where to search area......you will now have a wealth of knowledge before your very eyes....good luck on your talk

I live southern Missouri and the Baptist church around the corner from my house have their meetings where they preach against the Church.....my kids at times have had difficult times in school where it has been held against them for being a "Mormon"....made fun of.....etc.....they also cannot join the Christain Club due to their religion.

lets see......A Mormon at the head of the Democrat Party and then a Mormon President....wow......I can only imagine........ Ed Decker could really cry if that were the case.....THE MORMONS ARE TRYING TO TAKE OVER THE WORLD!!!!!......Wally Martin would roll over in his grave...

I do believe the Bible to be true. I also believe that the Bible should consist also of the Apocrypha, biblical texts that were found some centuries later, like (my two favourite books of wisdom) Ecclesiasticus and the Book of Solomon, not to be confused with Ecclesiastes and Song of Solomon (Song of Songs) Though written by man they writings are not false. As our God is not one of deception. As for the many hundreds of translations, they don't really fit into the equation. If you must you could read the Ancient Greek, Hebrew and Aramaic but till I learn those languages I will stick with my collection of English Bibles. Though I love the K.J.V. I do not believe it was sent down from heaven hanging on a piece of string, it is just another revision of William Tyndales Bible (1535) which is a revision of the Wycliffe bible of 1391. Both of these men were martyred for their translations though a few years later than the Tyndale Henry VIII ordered "The Great Bible" which was attached to church pulpits so that literate English people could read God's word for the first time. The bible was now able to be read to the masses. The King James is a relatively modern version (1611) and it is written in an archaic style even for that period. In the south of England people weren't using Thou and Thee much any more, "You" had taken over....though it was still being used in the north of England into the 1960's . I cross reference my bibles, I use the New Living Translation for just reading, the King James for reading/studying and when I am studying properly I use: King James Version Young's Literal Translation New International Version New Revised Standard Version and some others (which I get off the internet when I need them). I do not accept the B.O.M. and the assocaited scriptures for the reason stated in Galatians 1:6-9. One day I will buy a small pocket sized apocrypha, the only bible I have with it in is a HUGE K.J.V. which I can hardly lift it is so heavy. We believe the Bible to be TRUE as far as it is translated correctly.....no one said the Bible was false.....

I guess I live in a Cave.....I do not watch American Idol and have never watched Survivor or any other reality Tv show....the only channel that works on my TV is....ESPN...........LOL!!!!!!....

The Duty to God award is based on Church attendance and Priesthood participation....it says Duty to God across the top and it has a Oxen head on the medal itself

is there any documentation to back this up? As I understand it, the GSA units are very much run at a local level and it is decided locally what kind of a program to run and support. Are there any official GSA quotes or anything like that that says that the organization as a whole supports lesbian/feminist ideals? so how exactly does the new (or fairly new, anyway) Duty to God program fit in here with the Young Men's program? The church has specifically said that the new DTG program WAS NOT created in case BSA accepts gays and forces the LDS church to sever ties. The Duty to God Award has been around for a long time....I earned mine as a youth....now they are encouraging the Young Men to earn it....it is not a scouting award...its just a Priesthood award lets say....as for the scouting program in case the church drops it......I said they have a program ready to go if that day ever comes.....

and If I do as you requested does this mean you are going back to the LDS Faith....and if not whats the point in having this discussion???.....what are we gonna get from it?????

The Church has its own Young Womens Program with camping and awards they can earn etc....yes the Young Men have their program and its called the Boy Scouts of America......and if the BSA ever caves in the taking of God out of scouting the Church will then have its own Young Mens program similar to Scouting....also my understanding is they have it all in place in the event it were to happen.
