  1. Price of gold has gone up $100 or almost 5% over the past week. Wonder what is causing this to happen?
  2. Alma 10:3 And Aminadi was a descendant of Nephi, who was the son of Lehi, who came out of the land of Jerusalem, who was a descendant of Manasseh, who was the son of Joseph who was sold into Egypt by the hands of his brethren. “The Prophet Joseph informed us that the record of Lehi, was contained on the 116 pages that were first translated and subsequently stolen, and of which an abridgment is given us in the first book of Nephi, which is the record of Nephi individually, he himself being of the lineage of Manasseh; but that Ishmael was of the lineage of Ephraim, and that his sons married into Lehi's family, and Lehi's sons married Ishmael's daughters... “ (Erastus Snow, JD 23:184)
  3. There are differing views though. https://bookofmormonevidence.org/the-cave-at-cumorah/
  4. Certainly. https://www.fairlatterdaysaints.org/blog/2008/02/12/the-two-cumorah-theory
  5. Picture from last year’s Western Australia eclipse. Make sure you take a good pair of binoculars. Don’t even try to setup a telescope. Also, the planets and constellations become visible. But not the one’s you can see in the night sky. Picture from August 1, 2008 - China.
  6. The 2017 eclipse went thru Adam-ondi-ahman. But the 2024 one does not. And being close to totality ain’t like horseshoes & hand grenades. If you are not in totality you totally miss the celestial event.
  7. Im not saying the this eclipse is signaling the second coming. But I do agree with Alma in Alma 30:44. And the fact that a total eclipse only occurs because the moon and the sun have the same apparent diameter (Sun actually is 400x bigger and 400x further away) is a sign that the Lord loves us. And He has given us the opportunity to witness this spectacular event.
  8. What about all the signs in the heavens discussed in the scriptures? Are those irrelevant too?
  9. Eclipses, including total solar eclipses, have occasionally been associated with the end of an era or considered as significant omens in various cultures throughout history. One notable example is the total solar eclipse of May 28, 585 BCE, often linked to the end of the Battle of Halys between the Lydians and the Medes. The sudden darkness during the battle reportedly led to a truce and the establishment of a peace treaty, marking the end of an era of conflict. October 22, 2137 BCE March 5, 1223 BCE October 2, 718 BCE The above dates were total eclipses that passed through Ancient Israel. This eclipse will pass through Mexico, Texas, and up across Maine. Maybe the border crisis will be solved…. ChatGPT helped some.
  10. You forgot Black Hole Sun - Soundgarden
  11. Yup. Be prepared. We drove into a little town in Oregon in 2017. It took us 3-4 hours to get there, seeing sights along the way. We hoped to hang out in a local church parking lot but it was blocked off. Nothing was avilable, no vacancies. Farmers were selling parking spots of their farmland for $100 just to park your car or RV there. Resturants were overflowing, even the bad ones. And it was 18 hours of bumper to bumper traffic all the way home. But the show was worth it! There is nothing like it. When the sun went from diamond ring to full eclipse the town errupted. It was like the winning touchdown in the Super Bowl and the winning run in the World Serries at the same time. And the experience is indescribable. The temperature drops. It gets quiet, the animals all bed down and then it looks like a hole is ripped into the night sky and you can see a unbelievable halo and stars! Bring binoculars as you can see the solar prominances with them. They are purple and beautiful. If you miss this one, the next one in the USA isn't till Aug 23, 2044. You have been warned.
  12. Nah. A total eclipse is a sight to see though. If you can make it happen do so.

  14. We are exactly 200 years from some very important events. The bicentennial year of the printing of the Book of Mormon and organization of the Church is only 6 years away. I’m still gonna encourage my children to get an education, temple marriage, and make grand-babies. I also own a solar array, swimming pool supply of potable water, and a year supply of $. I have lived during one of the most exciting times in the history of mankind. The dawn of the space / information age and development of AI. I luckily bought some stock in NVIDIA about a decade ago. Lots of excitement to come. Really hoping to see the eclipse on April 8th. I traveled 400 miles on Aug 21, 2017 to watch the last great American total eclipse in Oregon. It was spectacular! I’m also monitoring the war in Israel. I don’t perceive any peaceful resolution in the near future…
  15. Also My Spotify playlist for the day.
  16. Like this?
  17. @Travelerwill be tickled pink.
  18. My stewardship is over myself, my spouse and our children at home. None of my children have dared to explain to me how the spirit had prompted them to avoid church services. And if that did hypothetically happen, I’m sure that it would not go over well. Adult children can do as they wish though. One of my sons left the church (served as an AP on his mission too). I gave him some counsel but he is grown man and can do as he wishes. D&C 121:37
  19. The Church of Jesus Christ of LDS is the only church with the true priesthood and living ordinances. It obviously has not cornered the market on truth, or righteousness though.
  20. Trump is getting hammered in court. Nikki Haley will be the default republican nominee if the rulings continue to go against him. What a mess.
  21. I don’t really look at it that way. Its more of a well developed training program than a division of labor. Elohim, I am positive, could have done it all. Probably this is what Jesus Christ was petitioning in Matt 26:39. Elohim was probably thinking. You have already run the 26.19 miles, I wont break the tape for you. You got this. I love you too much to intercede. And from the KFD Discourse, 7 April 1844, as Published in Times and Seasons, p. 614, The Joseph Smith Papers, accessed February 6, 2024 “I saw my Father work out his kingdom with fear and trembling, and I must do the same; and when I get my kingdom I shall present it to my Father, so that he obtains kingdom upon kingdom, and it will exalt his glory, so that Jesus treads in his tracks to inherit what God did before; it is plain beyond disputation, and you thus learn some of the first principles of the gospel, about which so much hath been said. When you climb a ladder, you must begin at the bottom and go on until you learn the last principle; it will be a great while before you have learned the last. It is not all to be comprehended in this world;” President Nelson could run a Temple, Stake Presidency, local ward, or primary class. But it’s more efficient to have the current set up. It gives everyone else the chance to progress through the system as well.
  22. When I hear stories like this I always find myself asking. Why didn’t the father just ask if he could have the Mangos for free or just take the discards home. Or plant a 🥭 tree in the backyard. Take some initiative. Communicate. Plant a tree. Maybe if the father would have done this, and given his son a good example…
