  1. I definitely would prefer free or lower-price (well, my checkbook would, anyway ).
  2. I know if my DH admitted to ANY contact more intimate than a fully clothed hug with any woman other than me, I'd think it quite likely that he'd done more than he was admitting and would rush to the doctor to make sure he didn't transmit anything to me (considering there's sexually transmitted stuff around that will KILL, I would NOT take any risks in that direction, especially not if I had young children who still needed Mommy).
  3. I just nabbed an iPod Touch on eBay I've really wanted for a long time (took me a while to find one I could afford at the time I was hunting). It should be here in about a week. Now I need suggestions for apps, especially for Scriptures and other Church books. I also want to be able to handle my existing Mobipocket e-books, and PDFs, ideally in as few apps as possible. :) Recommendations?
  4. No insult intended to YOU, but HOW can you be sure what he is or isn't doing when you're not there to see, given his track record of deceitful behavior? This may be a situation where he thinks if he confesses to a "less serious" offense, you'll think he's coming clean. Please check in with your doctor. Your kids need ONE dependable parent. Two would of course be better, but apparently not happening until your husband grows up and faces the reality of his actions. Christ Himself said that to lust in one's heart is equivalent to committing the physical act (see Matthew 5:28, 3 Nephi 12:28, D&C 63:16), and based on the number of times He said it, it's important to know and accept that fact.
  5. My DH spends a lot of time on Web forums. Occasionally, we're on the same ones (and we tend to amuse other posters by exchanging messages on the forum). I really dislike all the excuses the game addicts are making about how it's all a "nagging" wife's fault her husband places transient fun ahead of his eternal commitments to her, their children if any, God, etc. How about manning up and taking some responsibility, boys?
  6. Except for the all the lost info from several different periods of Jewish history. :)
  7. I hate tampons anyway (very uncomfortable and leaky), so that's not really an option for me, but being an endowed adult, I can also do initiatories during my period, although I tend to avoid going to the Temple during my period, because Murphy (apparently male) loves to pick the day a woman is wearing white to engineer heavy bleeding. :) I have to admit to a slightly squicked reaction to the prospect of entering a font that has someone else's blood or other bodily fluids in it. Yes, I know from experience the water is chlorinated, etc., and that that is not a 100% rational reaction. :)
  8. "Bridges of Madison County" has the same problem IMO. Haven't actually read that, since I'm not into "chick lit", and when I found out that the "love story" was adulterous, I felt no desire to read it.
  9. I'm quite sure there IS a reason the Scriptures include stuff like the minutia of the construction of the portable Tabernacle (I'm listening to Exodus today), but I'm at a loss as to why we need that information (likewise the censuses in Numbers) in our time. Any ideas?
  10. Haven't been able to visit in person for reasons stated further up the thread. Been sending cards with my contact info, inviting her to get in touch.
  11. If memory serves, Milk wasn't a martyr to the gay cause, just because of his personal life. He just had the misfortune to be in the office when a psycho ex-employee went on a rampage. Should we declare special commemorative days for all the straight bosses who died of similar causes, or is it really that much more devastating a social loss for a gay boss to die of being in the path of a nut?
  12. In case anyone's actually interested in LDS doctrinal commentary on Isaiah (vs. bashing and fault-finding), I recommend David Minert's "Simplified Isaiah for the Latter-day Saints". Basically, two columns with one having the KJV text (with notations on JST and Book of Mormon changes) and the other restating what Isaiah said in easier-to-follow language.
  13. I now only have one, and no one has additional info on her. My own VT is my RS president, and she's fine with the "send a card with my contact info and the monthly message" strategy.
  14. Adorable puppies! The various kids were cute, too.
  15. [about Bill Cosby's legendary "Noah" routine] You and me both. I can very easily envision Noah thinking he's being pranked when God starts telling him what's going to be needed, and the clean-up problem in the Ark always has had me wondering.I also wonder why Noah wasn't allowed to just swat those mosquitoes, fleas, and such when he had the chance.
  16. Can't afford the monthly fee when I really don't use a cell phone much. That screen would be too small for Internet use to work for me anyway (lousy vision). I'd be looking at the Touch as a replacement PDA with music capability. :)
  17. Seemed clear to me that Vort's tongue was so far in his? cheek that the tip was visible sticking out of his? ear.
  18. Both DH and I have the Scriptures on our Palms (I also have all the Teachings of the Presidents manuals, the hymns and Children's Songbook (I've spent quite a bit of time in Primary), the Gospel Doctrine manuals, the Institute and Seminary manuals, and a ton of other LDS e-books on mine, along with on my laptop). I agree that the large-print quad is heavy (gives my wrists a bit of trouble. Seems I just can't win ). I'm thinking about getting the iPod Touch at some point, probably when the Palm TX dies and I need a replacement handheld. Do you know if there's an app for the iPhone/Touch that'll handle Mobipocket-format e-books? Also, how's the PDF reader?
  19. Ever feel like Someone miscalculated your load limit? I've been at points where I'm explaining to God that I really can't handle as much as He thinks I can (and guess what, He's always right that yes, I can).
  20. Uh, yes, it does. I own one. (By "large" I mean the next size up from "regular", not the "extra-large" that's at the top of the scale.) Had to break down and move up from the "regular" size print recently due to vision (I'm nearly 40).
  21. IF any of the Mansonoids should ever be released, Squeaky would not be a prime candidate. She's one of the two who's never repudiated Manson (the other being Sandra Good), assaulted another inmate in prison, and escaped on one occasion. Looking at it from the POV of who's an ongoing threat, I'd have to say that as brutal as Susan Atkins' actions were in 1969, she's at this point apparently incapable of harming anyone else (assuming reports of her medical condition to be accurate), behaved herself in prison, and has renounced Manson's "philosophy", so I'd be less uneasy about her being paroled, since she has shown evidence of repentance, which Squeaky has not. Side note: my mother claims to have met some of the Manson Family pre-Tate/LaBianca. She says Charlie didn't impress her much, but some of the girls were pretty scary.
  22. I'm looking forward to this, and I'm sure my sister-in-law (first language is Spanish) will be even happier.
  23. Congratulations! Do we need to start planning another cyber-party?
  24. I'm not saying I'm a total angel about sticking to the list, but DH really is worse about impulse items than I am. Mine are mostly along the lines of "oh yeah, we ARE low on that and I didn't write it down!", his tend to be "oh, that looks good".
  25. My husband has come up with some inventive misinterpretations of shopping lists, but not this version, thankfully (good thing I don't number my list or he might have!). At least hers stuck to the list and didn't get a ton of impulse stuff. :)
