I doubt if Moroni was ever truly "alone" in the sense that he was all by himself. Both he and his father clearly came from a prominent Nephite leadership family. It's very likely, even probable, that he had servants, aides and other auxiliaries with him during his journeys. Family retainers would not have left him to join the Lamanites, but would have remained loyal. And has been pointed out it's likely they had beasts of burden. Since it's obvious that Moroni wandered for years, at a minimum covering territory between Manti UT and the New York area, it's very unlikely he was literally alone. One has only to read about the travels of Lewis and Clark to understand how unlikely it is that one man by himself could have covered so much geography.

What would some of these people do if they were born in Switzerland with 3 official languages??? Where countries are close together like Europe, its not uncommon for educated people to speak 5 or more languages. In the Netherlands even the bums on the street speak English.

Lucifer is selfish. That's the whole reason his plan was rejected. This selfishness has blinded him to God's intentions for His family, and somehow satan thinks his is the better way, and he can win out in the end. I don't think he gets the whole picture. A lot of people here don't, and they accepted the first and second estates.

How can I learn to love my friend who looks at porn?

How can I learn to love my friend who looks at porn?

I have acquaintances that have these problems, but I'm not inviting any of them on my next travel adventure. I know all kinds of crazy people from serial cheaters, to adulterers, to embezzelers, druggies and yes porno types. Mostly through business associations. But they're not my friends. -

Pornography is everywhere. I don't think Kenzer is necessarily dealing with a porn addict. But Kenzer is 16 years old. Why should she want to deal with any of this at this stage of her life?? Like I said, sometimes you need to upgrade your friends. Dealing with quality people is a pleasure. I try to do it in my personal as well as business life. Why would I want to deal with anything else? Life is complicated enough. I have seen hard core pornography, but I don't really associate with those who want to view it regularly. I know people who take drugs, but don't really consider them my friends. They're acquaintances. Friends are people I would go out to dinner with, take cruises with, attend their wedding, have joy when life events happen to them such as children, etc. I don't do these things with acquaintances. Sure, compared to some of the crimes and addictions I've mentioned porn is pretty small potatoes. But that doesn't mean a 16 year old should let it into her life.. -

Well Kenzers, I just looked at your profile. You are 16. Please stay away from this person. My advice now goes double. -

Maybe, But I don't know anyone who is a porn addict (that I'm aware). And wouldn't really want to know anyone who is. I'll tone it down. Would you be "friends" with a drug dealer? Probably not. And I'm a libertarian. I think drugs should be legalized. -

At some point you have to upgrade your "friends". Please move on. Would you want to be "friends" with a child molester, a thief, a murderer??? People like this are emotional vampires. -
I use an iPhone, with AT&T service. I stick with AT&T because of seamless international calling etc.

Zion is established, and is part of an ongoing process that will culminate in the second coming of the Christ, the establishment of the New Jerusalem and the beginning of the millenium. I'm not quite sure what you mean by an "event", unless it's the restoration of the church.

MoE Of course there can be extenuating circumstances such as mental illness etc etc. and God can forgive whom He pleases, but my understanding of cold blooded murder (call it murder 1) is very akin to denying the Holy Ghost. Note the above scripture in Alma. In Utah, firing squad was used as capital punishment for those who wanted it. The idea being that although Christ could not atone for a murder, the murderer had possiblility of atoning by having his own blood shed. This is a doctrine I believe is known as blood atonement. See this reference. Blood atonement - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Not sure any of you are correct: D&C 42:18 And now, behold, I speak unto the church. Thou shalt not kill; and he that kills* shall not* have forgiveness in this world, nor in the world to come. See also V. 19.

Good riddance to this piece of human garbage. I don't think he can repent, because one of the charges was murder.

With two people working, I suggest you get a housekeeper to come in a couple times a month.

Pay maintenance or make a payment........with the older cars you're only one major repair away from junking it. I'm a drive it 'til you drop guy as well, but I buy high end cars because I spend a lot of time behind the wheel. I don't believe in paying cash for anything that declines in value, so I have always financed my cars. For me the only reason to buy new is 1- Too many miles, and 2- technological changes. Because I spend a lot of time driving I like Bluetooth, Satellite radios and navigation systems among other amenities. Also a lot of new features such as adaptive headlights, Xenon headlights, tracton control, lane recognition, etc have made driving a lot safer. That's another good reason to upgrade. I get ennui. I just bought a Camaro ZL1. You wouldn't want my car payment. Or buy gas for it.

I for one don't mind paying a little more so that those in the service and food industries can make a decent wage. That being said, labor is only worth so much. And unskilled labor is worth even less. So yes, an economics lesson is very much in order. My view of these jobs is the following: They're starter jobs. Life skills can be learned such as showing up on time, doing a good job, obeying orders from superiors, having integrity, etc. These skills (as an employer I know this!) can be in very short supply among certain members of society. Here is a true story: I know a woman who is a manager at McDonalds. She started at the bottom, but applied the skills above. She got more hours, was promoted through the ranks, and became the manager after about 15 years. Being a manager entitles her to pension, health care benefits and a fairly decent wage. She's not getting rich, but having taken the opportunity to work her way up, did so.

Yes, PC it seems the old 80-20 rule is in full operation, even in churches.

Not sure why "critics" would claim 4-5 million go to church regularly and use it as a negative. I'd say that's a fairly good record. I know a lot of Catholics, and I would say that the activity rate is much lower in that church. Catholics use baptism as a measure of who belongs, same as Mormons. When I was in the mission home many many years ago, it was stated by a General Authority that 60% of the people in the audience at that time (all missionaries!) would go inactive! I remember looking around and wondering if that was true, that many of my Melchizedek priesthood holder peers would really go inactive. Now with more experience in life, I realize that it's a true statistic. I think the important thing is that 90% plus of all members believe to some extent in the doctrine and identify themselves as members, whether they practice actively or not.

Gambling is one of the three "A's" that qualify for a divorce proceeding. A- For Addiction. He has an addiction, and no one should have to deal with that. -
14 year old daughter doesn't want to go to church what do I do?
mrmarklin replied to latterdaymom's topic in Advice Board
OP. Because of your daughter's mental issues what I have to say may be irrelevant, but here goes: I always hated church, and was forced to go all my teenage years. Sundays were the worst days of the week for me. When I became a junior in high school, my mother go so frustrated with forcing me to go to seminary, that she said if I go voluntarily in my junior year, I wouldn't have to go as a senior, but, I had to figure my own way to get to school (seminary parents were my ride). I said OK, and when the time came I didn't go to seminary as a senior, and found other ways of getting to school. I actually hitch hiked home daily from school! At the end of the day, being forced to go to church worked, because I'm still going! I'll spare you the boring details of the decisions made to be here. I'm a believer in force as long as the kids are minors because house rules, just as in society at large has rules, is something we all have to deal with. It's part of growing up.- 18 replies

I'll stick up for PB a little bit. In my ward, as well as another nearby, people who don't wear white shirts don't administer the sacrament. Yes, there is a period at the end of that sentence. R So from a cultural point of view PB has a point. BTW I don't happen to own a white shirt. Got enough of it on my mission to last a lifetime.

Of course you are correct. But the reality is that human endeavor is so complex that there are lots of corollaries and it is very hard to stay focussed on the big picture. Hence, auxiliary commandments such as the TEN etc etc. God has to simplify things to help us on our way.:)
