  1. You are just jealous that everyone is getting clogged arteries and you don't!
  2. Hi, we discussed this topic extensively here: http://www.lds.net/forums/lds-gospel-discussion/36633-issues-brigham-young.html The thread is long but touches most points about Blacks and the Priesthood as well as giving historical background and sources, if you are interested in the topic as I do, I am sure you will find the thread interesting. Maybe you would like to check it out and reply there.
  3. Welcome Norah. :)
  4. See the bishop? Sure, but FIRST please get professional advise from a lawyer as well as a professional psychologist. You have been a victim or physical and mental abuse. On top of all that and based on your account, your husband has been neglecting your daughter. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that things can get even uglier. Please take care of yourself and protect your daughter from any harm. Yes, you can listen to the counsel from your Bishop, family, friends, strangers on the internet...but ultimately, none of us are living YOUR life therefore please think carefully about the decision you will take. Safety for you and your child should be PARAMOUNT.
  5. You know what? I don't think is unique to American society. I think if you carry out this experiment in most countries, you would probably get a similar result.
  6. She did not get offended at. We met this afternoon for a little while. She said she has been thinking about what I said and that she has problems realizing when she is being mean and wasn't aware of the impact it has on others. She then stopped for a minute....looked at me, gave me a smile and said: "You know what Suzie? Your attitude sucks sometimes, too". I looked at her, laughed and said: I know.
  7. She sent me another text. We will be meeting this evening. She said "I'm sorry about my attitude. We will talk later".
  8. Yes peeps, I will try Judo's loving and caring method (as I have done in the past) depending on what she has to say first.
  9. I think I am probably the only person who tells her as it is because most people are afraid of her. The word "friend" from me is almost sacred, I try hard not to use it lightly.
  10. She said last night that she will call me back today. She did sent me a text this morning to say she wants to talk more about it. Btw, she knows I am blunt, I don't think it bothered her the fact that I said her attitude sucks but the fact that she knows it does.
  11. Oh I did. This is not the first time she brings up the point. I tried to reason with her to no avail many times and yet she sees the most caring and loving people as losers and she surely let them know about it too so she got a little of her own medicine. She was silent for a few minutes and told me she will give me a call today.
  12. Yes, I did. She is not a friend of mine but I have been trying to tell her that her attitude is what prevent people from being friends with her however, in her mind (and probably a defense mechanism of some sort) she finds there is nothing wrong with her attitude but everything wrong with others. Well, she asked what I thought and I told her.
  13. An acquaintance of mine that I know for quite a few years, gave me a phone call last night and she was very upset at the fact that her co-workers allegedly don't like her. I wasn't really surprised but she was. She started saying that the reason they don't like her it's because she is an LDS member. I asked how did she reach that conclusion and she simply replied it was just "evident" because she cannot understand why anyone would purposely try to stay away from her. So I am paraphrasing some of the conversation.... Woman:...So I am very upset about it Suzie. I just cannot understand why anyone would purposely try to stay away from me. They're just a bunch of losers! Who cares anyway? Suzie: Well, obviously you care enough to call me and rant about it... , Woman: Well hello?, it's not like I am asking you for advise or anything ok?. I just wanted to vent a little bit because you know me and I thought maybe you could tell me what do you think is the reason for their behavior? Suzie: Well, that's obvious and has been obvious for years. Your attitude sucks. Woman: *silence*
  14. Thanksgiving rocks! And I refuse to listen to any Christmas songs or wear my favorite sweater until after Thanksgiving.
  15. It is simple. Possibly, most people can or they are able to fast, doesn't mean that in all cases they should. Staying Healthy: Welfare Services Suggests How - Liahona Sept. 1981 - liahona
  16. You forgot to mention that you slept in the couch that night.
  17. Well, I wanted to be classmates with MOE and Slamjet but I think they were suspended....
  18. I used to love cats, until I saw one vomiting a hair ball.
  19. sister_in_faith, you are the only person that truly knows your body and your issues. You have to do what you think is best. :) About Vort, don't sweat it. Sometimes (heck, most times), he can be a pain in the....well, you get it... but I don't think he meant any harm. He just seems to feel strong about most points he makes and of course, people should just take it as what it is, his personal opinion and nothing more. Therefore, I don't think anyone should feel guilty after reading his posts or any other post from any other member for that matter. We are just random folks using the internet and trying to sound intelligent.
  20. Bini!!! I wish I could hug you right now! Things WILL get better and you will enjoy being a mom. You are great and very blessed to have a supporting and loving husband. :) *hugs*
  21. Angry or constipated?
  22. Oh noooo! My number one pet peeve type of answer! Geez, if I have to bet a buck every time I hear this from a member, I would be a millionaire by now.
  23. Approval is requested if you plan to do the elective surgery or if you had the operation already and you are seeking baptism in which case you will need to be interviewed by the mission president who needs the approval of the first presidency. If after being baptized, you choose to go through the operation, you will possibly face Church discipline. So basically, I don't think there is anything about your transgender aspect right now that is stopping you from being baptized (again, if you are not seeking the operation).
  24. I have no problem with fasting (thank goodness tacos are eaten on Tuesdays!)
