Dear LDS.net Users, Tampons, baptisms and safety ?
lizzy12 replied to lizzy12's topic in Relief Society
I couldn't care less if the guys in my ward new I was having my period or not. Rather the question was if I could do baptisms while wearing a tampon. My temple never asks but they do have free tampons and pads. -
They give them out.It depends on the teacher weather there used. I've had 3 years of teachers and i'm doubling seminary this year so I can graduate early from High School so i'm doing Old testament by home study. I'm obviously using the manual for homestudy. And I like it. I've never used the manual with my other teachers unless I was doing makeup work/

A testimony doesn't come all at once. And I never had a "ahh-ha" ensign moment. My testimony developed through prayer and receiving answers. Girls Camp and seminary helped a lot too :)

Talk about the influences of good friends vs bad. And what exactley a good friend is and how to be one. Use personal experiences. Ask for the teens to give examples in their lifes. Look to the scriptures for ppl who had good influences. emphasize that your siblings are your best friends.

One of the YM in my ward is leaving on his mission tomorrow- we aren't close, we never dated or hung out outside of the youth program but I would still like to write him. What do you write to a missionary?

welcome! I looove Oregon :) I use to live in Milwaukie

Object lessons are effective! People relate best when you "liken the scriptures unto them." So, use object lessons when avalible :) However, make sure they relate and the students get the message and how it relates to the scriptures.

never heard of magic squares. And I love seminary. I'm sure you will be fine without it :)

thanks all

I've talked about doing the baptism and confirmation and leaving the rest to them. I'm not sure how much work is involved after that.

Thanks for the advice Gwen. The thing is, shes going to be waiting a long time. Perhaps until my grandma dies. And my father fine with it, kinda encourging actually. But, i'll talk it over with my mother.
-
They don't live near me. Nor, have I seen them for 5 years. My grandmother, Ida, is a very ..unique person and doesn't keep with her commitments...She's been married 9 times and calls and says she coming for a visit. She's never actually come.
-
So, my great grandmas works needed to be done for like, 15 years. SO, i'm into family history latley-the bug caught me. And i have her work reserved. My mom says "Don't you dare do Grandma Maries work! My mother (my grandma) is trying to be temple worthy by the end of the year, All all my sisters want to be there when the works done." I say it doesn't matter who does it as long as its done. The church has said that a child is NOT to wait to be baptized by the father if the fathers not worthy. I've done the familys work- a ton of it, and i'm ready to go to the temple. Do I save the card, or go ahead with it. Frankly, i'm not close with this side of the family, and in all honesty could care less. The idea of waiting for someone to be temple worthy sickens me. Your views on that?

If you need someone to go over your lesson plans let me know :) I'd love to look at them. Play games, sing the seminary songs, keep them awake. Help them to learn to love the scriptures. You have an amazing opportunity to make an impact in these teens lives. I'm a Junior in High School this year, and I can honestly say that the most influential adults in the church have been my seminary teachers(i've had 2 different ones.). I see them everyday and they taught me to love the scriptures. I can come to them with questions about anything and they always help me. You'll get to know these teens, and hopefully love them, and they will hopefully love you. Seminary is an amazing program. Its helped me so much in my life. Your helping these teens to feel the spirit before what could be a horrible, stressful day of peer pressure, anxety, tests and drama. The feelings of my whole day and attitude starts at seminary. I've been able to start my day at in a wonderfull way everyday because of Seminary. I wish I had seminary in Middle School- I really really needed it then. You should prolly get ppl to vote on a class president which changes every semester. The class president assigns devotionals (every day begin with a song, prayer, spirtual thought.) and keeps track of attendence :)

Could someone explain this to me, Saving Ordinances
lizzy12 replied to yorkiebeebs's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
Saving ordinaces are ordinances needed to reach the highest degree of glory in eternal life. These ordinances are preformed in the temple-except Baptism and Confirmation for living people. A patriarchal blessing, is not a saving ordinace, its not preformmed in the temple for dead ancestors however it helps guide us so while its not nessacary for the celestial kingdom it helps :) -
I love women who make the daring jump to short hair! I want to but i'm scared!

Who asks people to give opening/closing prayers
lizzy12 replied to EQ_Guy's topic in General Discussion
I'm 16 and I love speaking in sacrement! In fact, I ask to speak, and the bishop says I can't for another few months because I just spoke The 1st councsler never assigns youth speakers. Its irking -

The church has advised that Men pray opening the meeting and women pray closing the meeting. My grandpa said so once after church when a women had opened and a mad had closed

i was referring to my home implying if people needed a space they could sleep on the couch, of course thats only after I here from your bishop :)
