  1. Glad your son is ok. I think we all, even adults should have someone with us when we swim especially in big bodies of water like the ocean. There are so many unseen things like rip tide and the creatures like jelly fish that could cause very serious problems if the person was highly alergic. Not to mention the many things that can happen like diving and hitting our head enough to knock us out or make us so dizzy we loose our balance and all, you know? My uncle had a form of epilepsy that caused him to doze off even when standing sometimes. My grandmother warned him hundreds of times about going fishing alone but that was his love and passion. In 1996 it happened. Another fisherman was a little distance away on the rocks and said he saw him, turned his back to bait his hook and when he turn back around my uncle was gone. He looked around and then called the 911. It was too late but if my uncle would have had someone with him there is a very high chance it would have turned out diifferent. We never know when our time is upon us and when it is, nothing will stop His will.
  2. I agree along the lines of what Dravin is saying. I don't buy lotto tics and one of the bigest reasons I don't is it would be my luck that I'd win. People should think more about what this much money would do to thier lives. No matter what everything they know and have right now would change forever. Things may be rough but aren't working together through those hard times, praying, putting our faith in Heavenly Father and coming out the other side still broke but closer to our loved ones and friends and to Heavenly Father worth much more? If He is strongest when we are week wouldn't having that much give many people a false feeling of security which I feel has a huge opportunity to make one slide farther and farther away from Him? I was born broke. I will die broke money wise but I am the richest man I know because of the many hard times I've made it through in my life side by side with my loved ones and with Heavenly Father right in the center of it all. Those lessons and blessings are the things we can take with us when we croak. He provides all that my family and I need to survive on in this world and the next and I thank Him every day and night. I think people need to really watch what they wish for.....because they just might get it! :)
  3. As long as you don't implement rule #15. Sucking up to Pam on lds.net will no longer be tolerated. NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! I don't know what I'd do if you enforce that rule. Probably be forced to get a job because the checks would stop. AH MAAAN!!!!
  4. Hordak, I like you. 3 billy goat gruff came to mind from the get-go. HA!!! :0
  5. Welcome Lonewolfx. Yes, ease the mind, unwind, take yer shoes off and sit a spell. This place is a haven for me. A safe place, free of the violence of the world. I've been a member of forums since Al Gore invented the enternet and this one is the best. (jk about the Al Gore thing.)
  6. The 5th Dimensions were so cool. "When the moon is in the 7th house, and Jupiter aligns with Mars. Then peace will guide the planets, and love with steer the stars!!" and when they did the funky breakdown in the middle of the song into "Let the Sunshine In" you just can't help but jump up and do the groovin dance. I think I just dated myself.
  7. LM, I totally agree with you about Mother Teresa. Not to compare them in any way but I had some issues with the way Michael Jacksons death completely blocked out every channel and news print when on that same day Farrah Fawcett and Ed McMahan died. No disrespect meant against Michael Jackson or his fans but sheesh!!!
  8. When I first saw this on a bumper sticker I thought it was a little weird. I don't mean to hijack the thread but what are your feelings about it dotdotcurve and anyone else?
  9. Does this mean my brand new tattoo of a Gingerbread man right above my heart has to be scrapped off now? YEEOOOOOOWWWW!!!! It hurt bad enough having it done. I just can't win for loosin.
  10. QuestionableSanity, I believe that Heavenly Father blesses all of us with certain gifts and abilties. I have been on crutches since I was 5 yrs old because of a skeletal condition and obviously could never join the military or go on a mission, but, I am able to use the gifts and abilities I have been blessed with to help others. I do not choose to use the word "disability". I have replaced it with "Different Ability". We are both different from most people but that does not mean we are useless. We can use what we have to help others by not allowing our difference to stop us from shinning the light and love of Heavenly Father to all we meet. As a matter of fact we have the opportunity to be an inspiration to others who feel they have nothing special to share. If we can over come our issues and lead others Jesus, then they see this and realize that they can too! Hang in there brother and never give up. Also, I find it very helpful to pray for strength. Prayer is the most powerful thing. If you ask He will grant you this strength and remember, it is His promise to never leave you. Heavenly Father loves you very much and has plans for you just as He has plans for us all if we will only open our hearts, be obedient and follow.
  11. Congrats!!! It will be the time of your life! :)
  12. Dear BluePlastic, I feel your pain. It's so busy when the missionaries are visiting, they call often, they do blessings, they invite you to church for events and then.......they leave. Yes, the church is there and others from your ward and yes the Relief Society is a wonderful thing to be a part of that I assure you will keep you busy which will help push away that lonely feeling but I can relate to your situation. NetGood and LDSValley offer good advice especially much prayer and staying in scripture. Maybe praying for the Holy Ghost to help you with this specific issue would help. Also try to focus on what the missionaries were doing while they were visiting you. They were doing everything they could to get you closer to Heavenly Father. To teach and show you the many awesome blessings we can have when we are close to Him. It is His love that sent them to you and it is His love and mercy that will sustain you. Seek someone like the Mission Leader for your area and ask if there is a Bible study group for women in your age group. It may be hard for you at first if you are shy but it will be worth it. If you need any of us we are always here for you also. :)
  13. @IATW, I've been on this forum since I was 3 ft tall. I'm not LDS. My oldest son is and is almost finished with his mission. I joined this forum for the purpose of adding one more resource to my list of ways to learn about the Mormon faith but quickly found out that being here provides me personally much more than just that. First of all it's not just a forum for LDS, we have faiths of many types here, including athiest (if that is a faith) and to me that is what makes it extra special. Keeping in mind that it IS still the enternet we have our occasional troll problem and regulars that have a bad hair day from time to time but in general looking at the big picture this forum is the best I have ever been a member of. Even though I'm non-LDS I truly feel like I'm at home here. There are rules to follow and I am thankful that the mods keep a close eye on everything which is another reason I like it here so much. You can post just about any question and most replies will be honest and as helpfull as possible but we are all human. I also found out pretty quick that a lot of people here have a sense of humor which is a must for me cause I'm a nut. Hang around a while, have fun, vent if you like and I think you'll find like I did there are many who will do all they can to lift you up, provide personal and scriptural guidance and do it in a careing way as long as they can tell the poster is sincere. I've already enjoyed some of the views you've posted and believe that you are the type person that will bring to the table more goodies that help to make this forum more full rounded, fun and educational as well. I believe that Heavenly Father made this a very diverse world for a reason and the many different people that are members here sure provide that crazy mix that I love being a part of. Not all will like you, they sure don't me and that's ok. Don't take it too personally even if they seem to make it sound that way. This forum is totally cool to me because of all the crazy folks who bring so many different views to the table so post away and hang on and be on guard for some on here who are even crazier than I am. Welcome to the forum. :)
  14. A banana-bini playing guitar. I like it! Happy Happy everyone!!! I love you. :)
  15. You might want to check out Capella University at: Online Education Degree Program - Online Degree Programs - Online University Degrees They have a PHd program in criminal justice but I'm not sure if they have an actual program to become a lawyer.
  16. I'm like Godless, I've tried several times to load my pic, shrunk it to a tiny size thinking it was not working because the file size was too big, still wouldn't work. I gave up. I've loaded many other pics in my photo album with no problems so I don't get it. It may be best for all though. Kurt's dog is hansome compared to me.
  17. It may be because of the "watched pot" theory but as hard as I've tried since I was a teen I've never seen even a glimpse of ghost. All of the meetings and conversations I've had with others that have passed have been in dreams but those are many. Some of the dreams were more real than reality itself. I also believe there are small beings, mostly benevolent, that have the job of taking care of nature. Flowers, plants and the Earth in general. I've been in the deep woods and felt that "being watched" feeling way too many times to belief it's just the wild life alone. I also believe very VERY strongly in guardian angels.
  18. Niether, I'm sticking it out because I love gingerbread cookies and I'm hoping I can catch you not looking and steal a birthday kiss maybe getting a tiny piece of your blueberry eyebrow. i like blueberry.
  19. Sometimes I think when we've done all we know to do to make our spouses happy and I mean EVERYTHING... and it still doesn't work, then it is my personal feelings that maybe, just maybe, Heavenly Father is allowing this to happen to force us to focus on Him and to strive to have a close relationship with Him like we should have all along. Of course we can't have the intimate part with Him but we can have much of the other parts of a relationship with Him. Talking to Him in prayer, telling Him our problems, going to Him for guidance and just plain telling Him we are done, finished trying it on our own because nothing works and actually makes things worse sometimes. Turn it all over to Him, every bit of it, then pray. I strongly feel that until we can have a close serious relationship with Heavenly Father, we cannot have a relationship with anyone else. Not one that will last and work right any way. With Him in our heart He helps us with the understanding, compassion for the spouse without guilt, He shows us what "real" love is. I will keep you in my prayes and wish that you would do the same for me because for the past few yrs my marriage has been real hard and it has taken all I can do on several occasions to not pack my bags and walk out but I pray for strength and He provides it, I then take it one day at the time. The trick to all of our relationships lasting and being good is Him, we MUST have Him right in the center of it at all times. God bless you and keep praying.
  20. I agree it may not be the best idea to post peoples names who requested the blessing and also who might have taken part unless you ask first but sharing with us and the whole world how it fills when the Holy Spirit comes in and uses you as a vessel is totally awesome. Not only do I feel there is no harm telling but I feel it inspires others to do everything they can to get closer to Heavenly Father and the Holy Spirit themselves. You Elders are so awesome in my eyes. Just being around you is a blessing. Keep up the good work sharing the love and the light of Jesus everywhere you go. That's your job, sharing the Gospel, Plan of Savation, getting them to church and then Baptised. Elders have a serious and MUCH needed job and I can never thank you enough for the sacafice and committment you have shown during your 2yr mission. Thank you again Elder Kurt and ALL elders, male and female across the globe.
  21. Happy 23rd birthday Pam. Luv ya!
  22. Very true Bini. For many years I felt alone, even when in a crowd. This hole in my chest had a hunger, I fed it with many things, some things I am not proud of admitting. Relationships that were built on quicksand doomed from the git go. I'm 50 yrs old and just recently realized something. Heavenly Father made us, right? Did He just make our ears and our toes and stop? No. He made ALL of us from head to toe, which means.....He made that hole too! and He made it for a very special reason. TO. PUT. HIM .IN. IT!!!! Once I started filling this empty hole with everything I could, and can still get my hands on that was good, scripture, fellowship, obedience, attending church, serving others in any way I can and here's an important one to me...PRAYING. I began to feel a calm, peaceful feeling. A feeling that I was not alone anymore. One that I have never felt before. One that truly quiches the thirst I've had for so so long. It did not change like the flip of a switch. I did not get in the dark place I was over night and knew I would not get out of it over night but I DID get out. I still have my days but now I know what to do and it starts and ends with getting on my knees. Literally. There is something about being on your knees in a submissive way that I guess helps Heavenly Father's ears perk up because He sure does listen and bless me when I do it. If you are already down my brother it is only a few more inches to be on your knees. Try it. What do you have to loose? What do you have to gain? I do not believe we can be happy, alone or in a relationship, until HE is in the center of our life and heart. We love you my brother. :)
  23. Why don't you call the church and get the contact number for your local missionaries??? They are far from home and would love a Christmas meal. I took off this Monday, took my pick-up and my enclosed trailer to the appartment where both companionships live and helped them move to another appartment across town. We had a blast!!! Even if you take them somewhere if you don't feel like cooking. It will be fun. :)
