  1. Please know that this question is not directed at any one or to anything that has been posted on this thread. It is questions that I overheard someone asking and therefore thought I would throw it out for discussion. Please forgive me and disregard my post if it is too far off topic. I, in NO way am a Bible scholar or even pretend that I know a lot about the OT or the NT. Also I am not posting this to upset anyone and if it does for some reason I truly hope that you will forgive me and provide guidance if possible so that I might be able to understand better why the person might have asked the questions. Ok, here it is: If the Bible, King James (NT), is incomplete or wrong in any slight way, doesn't that lead one to ask themselves the big question that it may mean the entire gospel of Jesus Christ is not true, therefore any faith that is based on Jesus Christ is also possibly false? It's an awful thing to even think about but when I heard it I was bothered to some degree. I am still holding firm to my faith 100% and in my belief in my Savour Jesus Christ.
  2. As for dating them both, just be up front and truthful with them both. It's always best to be truthful. Sometimes it hurts feelings a little but it's a lot better than hiding your feelings and intentions then later having to deal with a mess that could have been avoided. Both, if they are mature, will respect you and feel better about it themselves if you are totally truthful from the start. Then if they show harsh feelings it may be that he is not the one for you.
  3. Pray for strength. Every time you have that urge, pray. Ask others to pray for you. Prayer works.
  4. Wha??? When my oldest son joined the church a few years back I looked hard into the church. I visited many times going with him to witness baptisms and to regular church services. I was invited to the Bishops house on several occasions, one I remember most was to celebrate one of the girls birthdays which was a killer pool party. Had a blast. If there is one single word I would call any and all Mormons I've met so far it would be "normal". The biggest thing or turn off I've witnessed that I feel, as a non-member, would help in a commercial or in any attemp to make people who are not members be more attracted to the church it would be to try and get away from the "us/them" mentality. Along with the "us/them" thing comes words to call us and them. The second you put a word on a living breathing person you instantly turn them from a live human being, into a thing. I'm not just a thing. We all have many things in common. We all hurt. We all are looking for truth. We all need Jesus Christ. I'm sorry that I don't have all of the answers how to fix the "us/them" thing but I do everything in my power as a non-member when I hear other non-members saying crazy stuff about people of Mormon faith to stop and look into the church personally, and I don't mean just on the dumb internet. Go meet them. Talk to them. Get to know them, then they'll see. Maybe the add is like that. Sorry, I haven't actually seen it yet. If it is like that then........never mind.

  8. I work with a very nice lady who grew up in a church where the women wear thier long hair in a bun on top, I forget the name of the church. Also, they frown on make up and pants and also jewelry except of course for a wedding ring. She said some of the women are now beginning to change, using some make up, jewelry and even cutting thier hair but not real short. She gets her hair cut but only so it will stay at the exact same length it has been for years. I have never seen her in pants even at work functions outside like company picnics etc. I think the world of her and her beliefs. Not putting down others who choose to dress differently though as long as it covers what needs to be covered.
  9. The original Wizard of OZ in black and white scared the mess outta me. Those flying monkeys!!!! I still can't look them in the eyes. Monkeys should never fly. Especially with those little bellmen hats and vests. yeeoooowweeeee!!!!!! GOOD BYE
  10. I like many of them but my favorite is the great "I AM". I've heard it since I was born but not until recently did it hit me. Duh!!!! It's more than a name. "I Am" is present tense which means He is with me, right now, I mean REALLY right now, next to me. Inside me. His name is not the great "I Was".....or, the great "I'm Gonna Be".. it's THE GREAT I AM!!!!!! Yeah, I know...I'm a little slow. It's the heat down here in South Georgia USA. Sweltering.

  14. Moksha, I was prepared. Had my Rhino Chaser on my roof and everything was clean, then I saw it! A SERIOUSLY gnarly and I mean MACKY bomb, all red and sparkly...fell into the fade, did a AWESOME floater for what seemed like 10 minutes, then was forced to do a Turtle/two wave hold down because the wave behind mine was twice the size. I was barely able to hold my breath any longer when finally I popped up in the soup. I was like totally stoked!!! Can't wait till 2012. Note: I have been accused of being a "kook" in the past by fellow surfers who are obviously jealous of my style.
  15. Ah....if God ceased to be God, who would take His place? I don't understand.
  16. Bias. It's so hard to be nonbiased. About as hard as it is to love someone unconditionally. It sounds really nice but is it even possible for us mere mortals? As for the chance of finding thruth about anything, I'll have to go with bytors idea, follow the Spirit.
  17. Welcome Ms. Katy!!! This is a cool forum. Lots of really nice people. :)

  20. I think the most valuable thing we can ever give another person, is our time. Just be there for her if or when she needs her spirits lifted up. Make it a point to check on her every now and then but not so much that it creates added stress. Just make sure she knows you are there for her if she needs to vent or talk. Time will take care of the rest. :)
  21. Do they make them for little people? I'm only 3 feet 6 inches tall. I have an 11 inch inseam. No, REALLY!
