  1. I like Judominga's thing...whatever happened to they reach for each other and the lights fade out to close the scene? Sometimes I watch that show "So you think you can dance' and so much is said with those dances, so much is said when they have a lot of friction and in the end they hug. Or maybe the man lifts the woman in the air and she flings her arms up joyfully and smiles. Art has gone out of romance I think, and has been replaced with lust.
  2. We are created in God's image. I know lots of mainstream Christians who say they believe this, and yet the churches they belong to do not teach it. This whole 'God is only a Spirit' is so misleading, pale, and flimsy when in the light of the truth. God is male, God smells and sees and walks and talks. He is referred to as a Father, not a Mother, not a cloud "My CLOUD in heaven...?" nope Jesus called Him the FATHER. How much more clear can it get? Where in the Bible does this claim of God not having a body come from? How can Jesus be on His right hand? How can He sit on a throne? How did he walk in the garden? We have a body because He has a body. Jesus has a body. Maiku, I understand why you ask that question, but I have to tell you...They don't know. They don't know what the plan is, they don't know there is a plan. They think we are here to please God, they might say, "He gave us bodies because he loves us" but then how could he love us before we had bodies if we don't exist before we get them? and that's all they know. They don't know the meaning of life, they don't know why God created this world and put us on it. For all they know He did it so we could make him cheesecake. According to 'them' we will spend eternity worshipping Him forever and ever, but why create this whole big planet and do the whole tree thing, and all the tests if all he wanted was a bunch of mindless worshippers? Why not just create mindless worshippers and be done with it?
  3. Were Peter, James, or John resurrected or translated? Was John the Baptist resurrected?
  4. No missionaries in the family yet, but we usually let them call from our house. How did it go?
  5. In the US military adultry is a chargeable offense, but there is an unspoken "don't ask, don't tell" policy, so even though it can be enforced it won't be when people look the other way. It isn't the law that's the problem, it's the social acceptance. It is bad examples of it romanticized in the media, etc.
  6. I have found a few things since my hubby has recieved the priesthood...and is a HP, he honors me quite a bit more. We are more equal, not less. His preisthood means he is equipped to serve me, not the other way around. He learns spiritual things much quicker now. Before I was always waiting for him to 'catch up' but now he leads our family scripture study, and I nurture. We are equals.
  7. I think a lot depends on the type of affection...is it lustful? or is it a bit like petting the family dog?
  8. Well, for example I can feel gratitude for living in the country that I do, and express it when I sing the national anthem. I can share with others how great it is, point out wonderful things about it. I can support it, but I don't pray to it. I do not address it and expect a response. All good things come from God. When we acknowledge those things and express gratitude for them, it becomes worship when we admit that it came from our HF
  9. OH,, what memories, both my girls had horrible colic. I lived in an appartment building and one of my neighbors suggested I put beer in her bottle. I was like, "Well that explains what happened to you!" slam door. I did not generally let them cry it out, but I cuddled them only b/c it made me feel better. They of course don't remember anything about it, so I don't think setting them down and walking away would have hurt them at all. I just couldn't bring myself to do it. It went away after several weeks. There is nothing like 3 - 4 hours a day of screaming to make you appreciate the silence of say, the local library :) Colic is like 2 Nephi, a test to see how serious you are about this parenting thing.
  10. I would start the rice as soon as possible, some babies do take it a little earlier. I worked in day care for about a decade, and I have seen a lot. Some babies just need the cereal, some moms give it to them b/c they think they are supposed to. Babies who don't need the cereal but get it anyway are usually overweight. Babies who need the cereal wake up at night a lot and are underweight. Starting cereal can make her a little dehydrated, and make bm's a bit harder for her, but with her being breastfed I doubt it will be much of a problem. If you give it to her before bed she will sleep for a long time and be really hungry in the morning, so let your milk build up during the night and she will use it when she eats next. It will also make her stomach expand a little and give her a bigger appetite. YOu are such a good mom!
  11. The Lord's prayer was taught to my kids in primary, and I think we did an FHE on it too. It is a perfect example of prayer. I have had a lesson on it in RS, it was mainly on our sins being forgiven as we forgive those who trespass against us.
  12. I think that the 'worship' you might be thinking of is actually 'expressing gratitude'. Though it is important to acknowledge God's hand in all things, and praise Him, we should also express gratitude for having, say...a country where we are allowed to attend whatever church we want. It is important to express gratitude to our parents, etc. That is part of the gospel, and assists us in recognizing our blessings.
  13. IF you read the lesson it clearly says that God does not live in the dimension of time as do we. It describes our experiencing of time as being 'hampered'. From the manual: Neal A. Maxwell, a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, explained: “God does not live in the dimension of time as do we. We are not only hampered by our finiteness (experiential and intellectual), but also by being in the dimension of time. Moreover, God, since ‘all things are present’ with him, is not simply predicting based solely on the past. In ways that are not clear to us, he sees rather than foresees the future, because all things are at once present before him” (Things As They Really Are [1978], 29; see also Alma 40:8; D&C 130:4–7). Concerning God’s knowledge of all things, the Prophet Joseph Smith taught: “Without the knowledge of all things God would not be able to save any portion of his creatures; for it is by reason of the knowledge which he has of all things, from the beginning to the end, that enables him to give that understanding to his creatures by which they are made partakers of eternal life; and if it were not for the idea existing in the minds of men that God had all knowledge it would be impossible for them to exercise faith in him” (Lectures on Faith [1985], 51–52; see also D&C 88:41; 93:8–36). It is this knowledge of all things that is so pivotal, without it we would not have a plan, there would not have been God sending his precious children into the world to gamble on whether or not the whole thing would work. He has Knowledge of all things, not an educated guess, or a hope.
  14. Okay so I want to put in my 2 cents...maybe you are self conscious and wondering if you will measure up to that fellow who trod where you dare not go? Maybe you are worried that somehow you cannot compare to her first? I can tell you something from my experience with this concern. My husband and I are both adult converts. We have both had experiences with several people before we were married. In fact we have both been divorced, (he was married to her for 8 years for crying out loud) so I did worry if I could be his favorite ever. I used to be really stressed about it, and wondered if I should up my game a little. But I giggle at my younger self, I have nothing to worry about. We have been sealed as eternal companions, our level of harmony, intmacy, and love unfettered by guilt or pride is so beyond anything we ever had before. We love each other unconditionally, and we will do so for eternity. What does 8 little o years have compared to eternity? She is the one he regrets, a dark sadness that overshadows him at times. I am the one that will be his reward in the celestial kingdom, the one that comforts him, the one he reaches for at night, the one he tells his deepest worries to, the one he shares his joys with. Think how happy you'll be when she is carrying your baby....her round tummy...she has lots of firsts ahead of her too.
  15. oooohhhh, okay, he had three sons, so that makes 3 sons, their 3 wives, Noah and his wife....8 sorry just catching up (facepalm)
  16. Wait, so who were the eight. Noah, his wife, didn't he have four sons, and they had wives, shouldn't there be more than eight? I have always wondered why the font is an octagon, nothing is an accident in the temple. Everything is so well planned and precise, I don't think it is a coincidence that it is an octagon. This is very very interesting. But who are the eight?
  17. I am thinking of when the Lord said, "They draw near to me with their lips while their hearts are far from me" Don't get me wrong, singing praises is important, but it is what lies in the heart that is the most important. If you are truly converted to the Lord, not just your actions, but your intentions will be different. The pharisees followed the letter of the law, not just to show obedience to their God, but for other reasons that were all wrong. They were running around hating on each other, tattling on each other, thinking that their love of God would show through their outward obedience only. They were doing the best they could with what scripture they had, but it was not nearly good enough. When their very Savior was among them, they did not even recognize Him. Following the first two laws is important, showing love one to another.
  18. Jesus entire life was not conforming to what was normal. His life was the entire opposite of conforming to what people thought of as normal, beginning with the king being born in a manger, a child of 12 teaching in the temple, general laborers being called as apostles, as well as a tax collector (and given the priesthood in spite of what lineage they were) dining with sinners, doing the Lord's work on the Sabbath, etc. try looking up worldliness in the TG there is a ton under that
  19. How did she like them, Just_A_Guy?
  20. The fact that all things are present with God is not only an idea, it's doctrine. Whether or not it affects free will is mention in the Pearl of Great Price lesson manual linked in the first post. It says God’s foreknowledge of all things does not hinder or limit our freedom to choose good or evil. Elder James E. Talmage, who was a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, wrote: “Many people have been led to regard this foreknowledge of God as a predestination whereby souls are designated for glory or condemnation even before their birth in the flesh, and irrespective of individual merit or demerit. This heretical doctrine seeks to rob Deity of mercy, justice, and love; it would make God appear capricious and selfish, directing and creating all things solely for His own glory, caring not for the suffering of His victims. How dreadful, how inconsistent is such an idea of God! It leads to the absurd conclusion that the mere knowledge of coming events must act as a determining influence in bringing about those occurrences. God’s knowledge of spiritual and of human nature enables Him to conclude with certainty as to the actions of any of His children under given conditions; yet that knowledge is not of compelling force upon the creature” (The Articles of Faith, 12th ed., [1924], 191).
  21. Maybe it only looked like they caught him, but later he escaped to return to his master to recieve more training...
  22. I know it is hard, but yeah, would you regret it if the 12 year old needed help, asked for it, and no one responded. I think you do have to do something...but if the first person you tell is the mom, it has been my experience that in a situation like this they will move away leaving no forwarding address. Making a girl an accessory to falisfying drug testing for a job...not cool. It doesn't necessarily mean the kid has to be blamed by the parents, but what will happen to her? I wonder...does she have grandparents that can take care of her?
  23. Did they call his dad to talk him down? man with bullhorn "I am your father, join me"
  24. oh, I need to keep my house tidier this year. Going to work full time in 2011 was great for our bank account, but hard on my carpet!
  25. Whoa, I'm a Star Wars fan too, but really? maybe he needs mental help or something Attention shoppers, violence on isle 3!
