  1. Narcissist hardly ever burn out...they just find new toasters...and that is all people are to them...things. Having dealt with a boyfriend that was actually diagnosed as having Narcissistic Personality Disorder, they hardly ever admit they are narcissistic, they don't see themselves that way. They usually are highly manipulative and can manipulate people into thinking they way they want by using tactics unlike any normal person would even imagine. I have found once the perfect mask falls off and you see the real them they are far more difficult to deal with. Things that used to make my NPD boyfriend mad..the way I walked, the way my voice sounded, the way I broke up with him when I found out he had a wife and kids (he said he would commit suicide which wasn't really a suicide attempt but an emotional blackmail attempt). They are emotional vampires that will drain person after person to get attention and the biggest hurt you can inflict on them is to act like they don't exist, ever. I hope that someday they get help but I have a feeling most of it will be in the next lifetime. The good thing is the actual percentage of real Narcissists in society is very low. They also tend to make the largest population of serial killers...along with borderline personality disordered people (the two disorders tend to be a lot alike)
  2. I am soooo happy about this!!!!! I loved the books...and I have read all of them regarding ME. I just wish the Tolkien Estate would release the Sil...so all those fantastic stories could be made into movies (before I die) And Thorin is the hottest Dwarf ever.
  3. Why Why Why would the parents agree to this???? I'm all for packing up and leaving sodom and gomorrah now. I won't even look back...
  4. Well in Matthew Jesus pretty much explains things.... Matthew 6: 5And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. 6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. 7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
  5. Maybe the Lord likes to have a day without visitors..thus Sunday is a day of rest. Also partaking of the sacrament is just as important as doing temple work...and is not done in the temple. Therefore, in my own logic, it is important to attend those meetings on Sunday.
  6. Yes, if the person has truly repented they can reach the highest level of the CK. I have examples: Paul the Apostle Alma the Younger And I highly doubt that Alma the Younger hadn't been taught the gospel, Alma the Older doesn't strike me as the type of Father that didn't teach his children the gospel. I also think that it mocks the Atonement to say sinners can't reach the CK.
  7. giving them the Gospel is the answer, but that won't happen without a government change. However, neither Christianity or Democracy can be forced on a people at the tip of a sword. If it is, it won't last and the people will end up hating it. And if we force people to live the gospel...we will find our selves in the same boat as the lost third.
  8. This just reinforces our need to protect our 1st Amendment rights here in this country, especially the right to all religious freedoms (not just our brand). Because if the government ever gets to pick ours will not be the choice.
  9. wait wait wait wait wait...you didn't have to wait months and months, die of cancer three times, and sell your soul for this type of health care???? I.am.shocked. my evil liberal side showing, isn't it? Iggy, I am sorry, I've had the almost same thing happen with my daughters wisdom teeth...we ended up going to a different dentist, who extracted the cracked tooth immediately and it cost us $50. I would get a different opinion if possible, it was weird how one dentist did almost exactly what your dentist did and the other just pulled the wisdom tooth that day.
  10. No, not necessarily, but a non-endowed member usually gets a lessor punishment, lessor covenants have been broken. Mamma_Girl is right, don't wait that long. If you go in and confess, wanting true repentance, it won't be as difficult as you think. Most Bishops are very loving and want to help people return to the flock, excommunicating someone is one of the very last resorts they want to use. If you wait until you're 40, you might be so far away from the church you won't want to come back.
  11. My point is this...This is exactly what the millennium is for, for those who didn't have the opportunity to do things, be it be baptized, hear the gospel, marry, repent...and then after that we will start final judgement. So if we die, in the state we are in, then there will be another opportunity. And we can speculate what those opportunities are until the cows come home, but in the end it will only be between God and that person. Only he will determine who is worthy of the highest degrees of glory. Being sealed doesn't guarantee the celestial kingdom, it merely promises the opportunity to get there. Heavenly Father is going to afford all of his children the same opportunity, and the ability to retry for the opportunity if necessary. He realizes none of us are perfect, and it's a good thing he realizes this or it would only be the Godhead in the CK. We have no idea, and no right to judge who will make it to the CK, that is not our job, our job is to obey as best as we can, keep working, help others and to forgive. Ours is not the job to judge anyone

  13. So as a single person who probably won't have the opportunity to marry in the temple in this life time..I get to be someone else's angel forever...well if that isn't some motivation commit sin to get the heck out of the celestial kingdom I don't what is... I can either be someone's servant in heaven or do nothing in lower kingdoms...oh the choices.
  14. I used to do things out of fear and want of reward. Now I do them because I love God, I'm not in it for the reward....nor do I do anything out of fear of punishment. At this point I don't think I could go back to the other way.
  15. Heavenly Father is a Scientist, and can use the elements to do what he wants...I mean if us lowly humans can build an atom bomb and figure out dna structure...I bet he can too... That's how I reconcile science and religion. I really honestly feel if we humans can have our understanding of the way things works, via science, his understand and ability is far beyond ours. Do I believe he could take a carbon atom and create the entire universe...yes I do. It's that simple for me.
  16. This type of thing does not just happen in the Muslim world, or even in the eastern part of the world. Below is a link, and it is graphic with what happens to girls in Eastern Europe who get sold as sex slaves. Multimedia | The Price of Sex
  17. I agree, but sadly if a person doesn't have hope of anything better, then why should they care about anything here and now.
  18. I agree it is in bad taste, but I will defend the guys right to do it, even though it mocks Christianity. Either that or we end up with an official Bureau of Religious Affairs, and I can promise that LDS won't be sanction by that Bureau. at. all.
  19. Child Abuse - LDS Newsroom Here is the church's official stance on child abuse.
  20. I watched it, it was very good. I loved the video, shared it on FB, have had several non-members like it :) The music was wonderful, I even sang on the last song. The weird thing that happened in my house is the dogs had been wanting to play and acting wild all day. When it came on, they both went to sleep, and slept through the entire broadcast, and as soon as it was over...both were up wanting to play again.
  21. My understanding is the virgins do represent the church, both women and men, but the oil represents testimony and true conversion. Most members have a testimony, but the difference is how strong the testimony is and if they are truly converted. If we only have a testimony and it is not strong we will be out looking for more oil (others testimonies), but if we are truly converted we won't need others oil and will be able to with stand the tests and trails of the last day with our own testimony. Meh this is just my opinion. But here is Elder Oaks: https://lds.org/general-conference/2004/04/preparation-for-the-second-coming?lang=eng&query=ten+virgins
  22. I hope, for your son's sake, that if he is being abused by his step father he is going to LDS social services for therapy. Wouldn't want him to grow up thinking it's ok to abuse his own kids.
  23. Balrogs don't have wings either.... just sayin'
