@Traveler It is interesting how different things look in the macro picture than in the micro. As I look back on all the good men and women that I served with on my mission, and reflect on how so many of them are wandering in the wilderness today due to the issues you mention above, it makes the whole vaccine judgement issue look quite trivial.

Have not heard it, but wouldn't doubt it. From an organizational standpoint you wouldn't want lay leaders asserting a doctrine that didn't exist. Now if it was a mandate to drink coffee in order to keep more alert at work I think we could apply for a religious exemption, but it would get more complicated if the mandate allowed diet Pepsi and Monster as substitutes.

Coming to a hospital near you - the unintended consequences of poor policy decisions!
NY Hospital Forced To Stop Delivering Babies After Maternity Workers Resign Over Vaccine
A hospital in upstate New York has been forced to 'pause' the delivery of babies starting Sept. 24 after a flood of maternity workers resigned over Covid-19 vaccine mandates.

Lewis County Health System CEO Gerald Cayer made the announcement in a Friday press conference, according to WWNY. According to Cayer, six employees in the maternity unit resigned and another seven are 'undecided,' rendering the hospital unable to safely deliver children.
"If we can pause the service and now focus on recruiting nurses who are vaccinated, we will be able to reengage in delivering babies here in Lewis County," said Cayer.

Backroads, not sure how much information you would like to share but.. how many kids we are talking about? Both parents are receiving unemployment? Did they explicitly state they can't feed their kids?  Is anyone from school assisting in any way?

Hard to believe they can't afford breakfast given the current $250-$300 per child per month tax credit being given out each month? Unless that is being used for other payments.
In my church experience, 95% of members are terrible at their finances. I would suggest they find somebody they trust, give that person POA over their financial matters, and see what an experienced budgeter can change to improve things. People's pride usually prevents this.

I'm not entirely sure what I precisely want to say here, so I'll just pour my thoughts. I'm working with a family that is attending virtual school. Neither parents are able to work at this time. They are staying with a relative. They are receiving unemployment, SNAP, and WIC. They still allegedly can't feed their kids. Apparently one reason they chose to do virtual school was to avoid the cost of transporting their children to school. However, that puts them in a funny place for receiving school breakfast and lunch since my school can't exactly prepare or deliver meals. So apprently the kids are going hungry for portions of the day.
I can't help but think of preparedness. I don't know the family's full story, if something is happening to the benefits, if they don't know how to budget or meal plan, or if it just flat out isn't enough, but I do know I'm probably luck in the grand scheme of things to have employment and a home of my own and no worry about feeding my family.
But, dang, what is one to do when one is receiving all the services but still can't provide daily meals?

@SpiritDragon there is too much money at stake for Big Pharma, and too much power at stake for Big Government, to allow any cheap, widely available, and safe alternatives to the current vaccines.
America is built on profit. Ivermectin threatens profit therefore it is un-American and dangerous.

    Interesting review of Ivermectin Toxicity:

TL:DR Ivermectin has been concluded to have an exceptional safety profile that is better than many over-the-counter meds available. No deaths have been attributed to Ivermectin use in humans, with it being widely available for nearly 40 years as a human prescription drug, and longer for veterinary use. That's not to say it shouldn't still be approached with caution, but it is certainly safe enough to try out.

Im encouraged to see 100,000+ people in the stands watching the Oregon vs. Ohio St football game. They did not require proof of vaccination.
General conference will again be closed to the public next month.
I realize that conference is an indoor event so it is appropriate.  Maybe if this social plague continues we can plan to have conference in an outdoor venue in the future.

8 September 2021: Another false Covid belief meets the reality of actual data
    Don't Vaccinate Teenage Boys!
Research conducted by the University of California has found that teenage boys are six times more likely to suffer from heart problems caused by the COVID-19 vaccine than to be hospitalized as a result of COVID-19 itself. https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2021.08.30.21262866v1
A team led by Dr. Tracy Hoeg at the University of California investigated the rate of cardiac myocarditis – heart inflammation – and chest pain in children aged 12-17 following their second dose of the vaccine. They then compared this with the likelihood of children needing hospital treatment owing to Covid-19, at times of low, moderate and high rates of hospitalization.
Researchers found that the risk of heart complications for boys aged 12-15 following the vaccine was 162.2 per million, which was the highest out of all the groups they looked at. This compares to the risk of a healthy boy being hospitalized as a result of a COVID infection, which is around 26.7 per million, meaning the risk they face from the vaccine is 6.1 times higher!

What do you do when you completely and humiliatingly botch the entire exit out of Afghanistan?
What do you do when can't fix employment shortages, out of control inflation, when being woke starts to backfire on you, etc??
You deflect, you redirect and you get the peasants distracted by something else... like more mandates that threaten their livelihood.
When you can't win anything abroad and you have burned all our international credibility, try threatening those at home with the sword instead.

If the Taliban are the new choir boys... then simply classify the unvaxxed as the new terrorist? Pit family against family, neighbor against neighbor or church member against church member.
Our city just received one of the recent 13 KIA service members from Afghanistan.
Our city for one, will not be so quick to forget or easily distracted.

It would be kinda hard to use one's religion as a reason to not be vaccinated when the leader, the president of the Church, is vaccinated. One can't really say, "It goes against my religion," like a Jehovah Witness could say, "It's against my religion to have a blood transfusion."
I think @clwnuke provided a good example with a mandate for drinking coffee. In that scenario we would have a leg to stand on as it pertains to being a member of good standing.

The historical trend for Presidents (Rep and Dem) to issue more and more Executive Orders and administrative rules, often with dubious legal foundations concerns me. In other countries those types of actions have often been a prelude to the rise of a dictator or a coup - who often justify their actions by saying that they needed to act without checks and balances because it was an emergency.

Politicians love to take credit for trends that have already started down. In a few weeks President Biden will try to read his prompt card, point at an updated trend chart, and tell us that he single-handedly saved America from Covid.

@Traveler Yep!  I can hear some of them now when the heavens are opened saying - "Oh my, you let clwnuke into the Celestial Kingdom?? You blew that judgement. He hated cats, listened to disco music, snored at church, and had a secret picture of Jaclyn Smith in his wallet. No way I'm going in there!".

I have wondered if at the final judgment that G-d will open the heavens and let us each see the Celestial Kingdom and all it entails - and them many Latter-day Saints (and others) will look on in disappointment and say, "I paid tithing , made temple covenants, attended church all my life and endured the hardships of being a Saint for this?"  And then G-d in his mercy will show another kingdom with the question - "Perhaps this is more to your liking and a Kingdom of Glory that better fits your expectations.  And the response will be - "Oh this is much better.  Thanks  so much - this is what much better for me."

@dprh You got that all wrong! It's BYU's defensive strategy called "Planned Confusion". The idea is that you offer so many open paths down the field that there is a moment of "confusion" in which the opposing player hesitates and can be tackled.
It usually works until the opposing team realizes that it doesn't matter which hole in the line you choose, they are all good .., 🙁
