  1. A high tax rate in Canada for high income, no kids is 31%
  2. I know that your situation is unfair. Have talked to the Bishop? Perhaps the ward can fundraise? A GoFund Me project? Very sorry about your situation!
  3. @Scott I am so sorry for your troubles! I am Canadian so I see things from a different perspective. My younger brother was in Toronto Sick kids for years. My parents did not need to worry about the bills. Good luck!
  4. @Irishlds97 I would talk to your bishop. This might be a good time to start talking about financing your mission. My guess is that you will need at least some help with your finances so it would be a good idea to start discussing your situation. My guess is that your bishop will become a get source of moral support in your challenging situation.
  5. My family are all atheists. They also feel that the church is a cult and that I am crazy to be a member. I am personally responsible for every bad thing every mormon has done or is rumored to have done. All issues that I have in life are clearly the church’s fault. Time has not changed their opinion. You have to live your own life. Your parent’s opinion may never change.
  6. @artemisia12 So glad that you are here!
  7. Well either cookies and coffee or ..... couldn’t we yell out, or jump up and sway or something? On the other hand watching other people’s children dash around the chapel is quite jolly and diverting! How many of us spent the last sacrament service laying bets on whether that adorable child would manage to reach the stand?
  8. Whatever helps people get through the service! The Lutherans have coffee and cookies. I am jealous!
  9. You clearly hail from a different part of Zion. We are not so regimented here. Duck, duck, goose rules!
  10. When we do something, we try not to give offense When someone else does something, we try not to be offended. We have a world to convert, let’s try neither to give offence nor to be offended.
  11. Jogging topless? Two black eyes.
  12. We are Mavericks!
  13. If they listen to the lesson, they get to play Duck, duck, goose https://www.kidspot.com.au/things-to-do/activity-articles/duck-duck-goose/news-story/db6d250d75e48a6f55302675796ff1f4 My sunbeams loved it! in my class, we opened with prayer. I picked a student to come to the front of the class to say it. i had a very short lesson Then we coloured something about the lesson Duck, duck, goose Closing prayer AND then we practised what we would tell Mommy and Daddy about today’s lesson. My sunbeam’s LOVED this! I will show Mommy this drawing and tell her... We also had a little segment for what to tell siblings. My brother steals my dolls and rips their head’s off! Well, we tell him: Jesus would never do that! Most enjoyable!
  14. @Jersey Boy A single study is enough to raise eyebrows but not enough to change your views. When the study’s findings have been replicated many times then it is time to rethink old theories.
  15. @Still_Small_Voice Good job! Congrats!
  16. You would be most welcome! I want to see OZ!

  19. There are many tired people in this world ...and many of these tired people are mothers! They need one more thing to do like they need a hole in the head.
  20. A sister today was waiting on the stand to give her talk. While she waited, she breastfeed her baby, She covered herself with a small stretchy blanket. No one batted an eye.
  21. @Perhaps he lacks a physical attribute that all males have in his society eg ability to see in the dark? They can feel another’s fear when they shake hands? He does not have this ability due to mixed heritage? His hobby is calligraphy and thus his obsession with quill pens and ink? But not accepted in this macho culture?

  24. @Wall flower I am so sorry that you are going through this! Agree with Literate above. Why not make an appointment to see the bishop and discuss. You can adopt. If you talk to lds family services they can talk to you about the process. My stake president has adopted two children. I don’t know the story for both children but one child was an lds child. Before you go through the adoption process you need to work through the marriage problems. Good luck!
  25. @Chilean So happy to hear from you! Hope to hear from you again!
