@Iggy IThanks for answering! I really don’t know what this means: ‘what was *ministered* to me that affected me the most. One was a good one, one was a bad one.’ Could you explain? If teachers step out of line here, the presidency talks to the teacher. We had a couple retire and move here. We were so happy because this area really struggles. The wife was a professional teacher and she taught in RElief Society (RS) but she taught in the a worldly manner. I am not sure what she did but I assume that she really controlled the class and squashed discussion. The RS presidency spoke to her about teaching in an lds way and..she responded with, ‘ I have decades of professional experience’. The couple moved to the US! 😢 When I started teaching in RS, I thought ‘ Oh good. I will pick up some tips to teach at work! ‘ Nope totally different environment! I was so turned off by being suppressed, ignored, and spoken to rudely, I was determined to make the class open and welcoming. A teacher in RS once told me that I should not ask such a basic question and that I should go back to Gospel Principles! I am now close friends with that lady but still! In RS we teach adults and they should be treated as such! With love, gentleness and discretion! -

@zil and @Manners Matter. Thank you both so much! This is gold! -
@Jane_Doe I am so sorry! The program was really important to you and you put your heart and soul into it. I find the lds culture to be strangely traditional. The light of progressive thought does not shine here. I really wonder what happens above the ward and above the stake level? I wonder what kind of pressure our local leaders are under? Oh a brighter note! 🌞 Job Hunt! Now that’s exciting! You could totally change your life! What is your dream job? We have fingers crossed for you!

Can you think of anything to add to this lesson about Ministering? This lesson is a bit thin so I am trying to think of some material to add. Do you have any ideas? Thank you The worth of souls is great in the sight of God. The experiences of the sons of Mosiah illustrate that the way we see people affects how we minister to them. You could write on the board How the Nephites saw the Lamanites and How the sons of Mosiah saw the Lamanites. Then invite members to search Mosiah 28:1–3 and Alma 26:23–26 to find words and phrases to write under each of these statements. What does this comparison teach us about how the way we see people affects the way we minister to them? How can we learn to see people more as God sees them? (see D&C 18:10–16).

You know...there is something in this ‘ministering’ thing. I just taught a Relief Society lesson on Ministering and..all the sisters were very keen about ministering. Previously, I thought that the change from the close monitoring of visiting teaching would be the end of visiting but no!

What Would You Do? LDS vs. Homosexuality

Send photos! Will the performance be public? Televised? I am not sure that ‘younger’ leadership is coming any time soon! But I imagine that your friend is thinking of a change of generations so generation z, or later. What will the generation after z be called? A? The flying car generation? The 10 lost tribes return generation? -
Thank you for solving all of my problems! ...and all of my neighbors problems!

@inquisitive Welcome! We are happy to answer culture questions on this forum. In my area, you can only speak to the stake president in specific circumstances for example if you need a temple recommend. I imagine that this varies from stake president to stake president. Good luck! Hope to hear from you agAin! -
@Jane_Doe Thank you so much for caring about this issue. You are a lovely Person! My stakepresident explained the great emphasis on young men by explaining that we need priesthood to serve in the future. My observation is that far more young men leave than young women. I completely agree that the situation is unfair. I honour you for caring. I am thrilled that you care! In my area we lose almost all of our young men. It’s a crisis. From what I have read, far more young men leave in their late teens/early twenties than young women. We have to stop the hemoraging ....and the young women will benefit if we can stem the flow. i respect you and I respect your motives!

Advice needed, long read: Contemplating Divorce
Sunday21 replied to jmom's topic in Marriage and Relationship Advice
. It would be better for the kid to have two sets of happy parents than one set of unhappy parents. Of course the best solution is one set of happy parents. Chasing happiness does not lead to happiness. You end up with Fear of Missing Out.- 53 replies

Thank you. This is what I was thinking. Are you sure that you want to live in a tiny home? They tend to be smelly -even with just two people. The cooking smells alone not to mention the toilet smells can be offensive.
