Yes. A person who dresses in their best clothing to administer and partake of the sacrament couldn’t possibly be trying to show the Lord their reverence for His great sacrifice for them. Nope. It’s all virtue signaling. In the privacy of his home. Where nobody except his family is gathered. 🤔 Sorta reminds me of someone who gets upset about what others wear when partaking of the sacrament in the privacy of their own home and then judgmentally declares them to be pharisaical without being able to look at the intentions of their heart.

Due to government complications with visas, I was in the Provo MTC for 13 weeks. Granted, it was years ago. But I can definitely empathize with his concerns.

Putting the “home centered, church supported” to the test! For me, it really started with the urging from our leaders to keep the sabbath day holy several years ago. That seemed to be a preparatory step for individuals and families to really focus on Christ centered worship in our homes and away from standard church services. The Come Follow Me program was the next step.

Just to reiterate for those who might not know, partaking of the sacrament at home must have approval from the Bishop as he holds the keys of the sacrament administration. From the Handbook: 18.9.1 Approval to Administer the Sacrament The bishop holds the priesthood keys for administering the sacrament in the ward. All who participate in preparing, blessing, and passing the sacrament must receive approval from him or someone under his direction. If members of his ward are unable to partake of the sacrament because they are confined to a home, care center, or hospital, the bishop may authorize priesthood holders to administer the sacrament to them. He may authorize this even if they are temporarily outside his ward boundaries. However, he may not authorize the sacrament to be given to members outside his ward boundaries in other circumstances.

Ah yes... I have witnessed several bus loads of “impromptu” protesters who show up coincidentally right as the news media does. They generally all (media and protester) vacate the area about 15 minutes afterwards. (Disclaimer: I didn’t read the article and I likewise DO believe there are legitimate, impromptu protests. On occasion. On RARE occasion. Rarely, on rare occasions.)

I believe you are looking at this in a different way than your wife. You seem to look at this from this accounting standpoint: You spend $200 (?) a month for goods and receive only $50 a month for those goods. That is a negative balance of $150, so why would you pay tithing on a negative balance? Your wife seems to see it in an overall budgetary way: She has automatically written off the expense of $200 for the further raising of her child just as all other expenses she expects to pay. She is willing to pay ALL of his expenses because she loves him. Period. The extra $50 she receives from him is an increase to your overall budget in her view because she views his expenses as any other bill that simply has to be paid. I’m not saying who is right or wrong, but I do tend to lean towards your wife’s way of thinking. I believe she views it this way out of great love. As for those who are saying the amount is only $5, the amount is irrelevant to the conversation. The widow’s mite was a tiny amount, but was worth more than the buckets of money being poured into the coffers in a spiritual sense. In this case, the conversation is a question of obedience, not financial convenience. Edit: Just to be clear, I understand you are mentioning the $5 as an amount not worth causing contention. In such, you are encouraging him to be a peacemaker, which is great. But this is clearly an issue for them or else he wouldn’t have posted the question.

Very true. To be fair, though, what did we all expect it to be like in the last days before Christ’s second coming? I believe it will get much worse. That being said, the restoration itself is getting more and more exciting, isn’t it?

Everyone knew that Harry Reid would choose a particular side on most issues. We already know that a venomous serpent will bite and therefore we don’t put any confidence in it not biting. Mitt Romney makes a pretense of being on a team and then sides with the other. Justified or not, this comes across as disloyalty at a time when the nation is deeply divided on foundational principles. Wanna know who is hated worse than the enemy? A traitor. The Democrats made their impeachment decisions in order to uphold their ideology. I disagree with their ideology and believe them a dangerous enemy to liberty. But I believe Romney made his decision to serve himself and his own political interests. He might state differently, but I simply don’t believe or trust him. I bear no ill will towards him, but he needs to be voted out if he is going to place his own political interests above that of the nation; especially during times when a small number of votes can sway the outcomes.

You know, for whatever reason, I decided to watch this piece tonight after you recommended it. Glad I did!! Thanks for recommending! Gave me a much greater understanding of the reasoning behind this particular impeachment process. It also gives a great insight into how deep the corruption really goes. It also solidifies what I thought about Mitt Romney..... Not. A. Fan.

C’mon guys. That’s not fair. They need just a little more time to decide who they want to win... ...and with the graveyards closing at sundown, most of their constituents didn’t have a chance to vote.

My son really liked Monster House. Admittedly, it is kinda creepy in some parts and maybe too old for her. Another is A Corpse Bride. This one is on the same level as A Nightmare Before Christmas. Maybe not a “monster movie” per say, but Disney’s Princess and the Frog has monster-esque people. Seems to be another favorite of fans of that genre.

Because some member(s) would attempt to second guess the decisions made by the bishop(ric) because they “feel” that some other decision should have been made? I just can’t imagine a scenario where that would EVER happen.... 🤭

The only thing I recall that we are told of Lehi and Sariah’s age was on the ship sailing to the promised land. The record states that they were stricken with years (1 Nephi 18:17) and that they had grey hairs (1 Nephi 18:18). They also had “young” children. The record states that they had wandered in the wilderness for 8 years (1 Nephi 17:4) prior to their start of the ship building process and gathering of provisions for the ship. We are not given information as to how long the building and gathering processes took. Anything else would really be our own presumptions. In terms of the Book of Mormon videos, are we really going to keep having discussions of how the book was better? 🤓

Shortly after my mission, I dated a young lady who was pretty amazing. When I prayed, I felt that she would be a great eternal spouse for me. This was exciting! However, I then felt to pray further and ask if I would be a great eternal spouse for her. The answer was, “No.” I would not have been the person she would need. This was a turning point for me in my spiritual progression in realizing that sometimes I wasn’t asking the right questions. I have since found that there is often further insight to be gained in most anything God reveals. Just like Lehi’s dream, it was actually Nephi’s further questioning that gave us the insights we have come to rely on.
