Ford Motor Company posts surprise $1B profit

Anatess, Spot on! Maybe Obama should get YOU to be the car czar....you obviously know more than the person he put in there about the car companies! -
Saw where Urban Meyer suspended his star defensive player Spikes for HALF a game against Vandy this next weekend after he was caught trying to gouge the eyes of a Georgia running back last week. And it wasn't just a swipe at his facemask--the jerk stuck his flippin' hand in his helmet. Really classy. But when you recruit thugs to play a game because they can, and then you 'punish' them for 1/2 of a game, you send no message at all except 'next time don't get caught'. Sportsmanship is gone. Has been for many years.

And let me tell you--it was FULL in that shaker!

Ford Motor Company posts surprise $1B profit

Ford is doing well because they are able to have commercials as they wish as well. You hardly see any GM commercials (not nearly what you used to) and I can count on one hand the Chrysler commercials I see in a week. See about 1 or 2 Ford commercials/hour, though. A lot of people swore off of GM/Chrysler when they took the bailout because it was NOT a popular action by either administration. And I used to work with both GM and Ford in selling them parts, and believe me, Ford was much easier to work with as a supplier than GM was, by FAR. They actually treated you like a partner. GM treated you as an adversary for the most part, and truly adhered to the old purchasing motto: you (the supplier) are wrong. Even if you prove that you are right, you are wrong and you will be the one to pay for it. I was sad to see the US cede automotive supremacy to Toyota (BTW, I am a Toyota man, I have always had them and always will), but since it was GM, I wasn't too broke up by it... -
Hey, who took out my part of this thread?

This week's games include the 'biggest outdoor cocktail party in the world' Florida/Georgia. Florida showed it could be beat last week against Mississippi State (I know that Florida won, but they shouldn't have. Did you see the horrible touchdown call by Florida? Shameful) and Georgia has to win to have any credibility this year. Then there is OK St/Texas and Oregon/USC. Luckily, the Cougs are off this week to lick their wounds and maybe get some killer instinct...

When prayer doesn't feel like the balm of Gilead

Ram, You hit the nail square on the head with that answer. -
Miss Rachel,It is just obvious that you didn't drink good sweet tea. It only had ONE package of sugar in it? No wonder it was foul....

Do not go to a used car lot to buy your car! Go on Craigslist, choose a couple that look promising, and then go check them out with someone. I will NEVER buy a used car from a lot. A lot of times it is from the auto auctions, and the guy has no clue what the service was, how it was driven, etc. If you go to the owner's house, you will get it for less than on a car lot, and you can tell if it was taken care of or not. I got my 98 Ford Pickup from Craigslist, and am very happy with it. The PO took care of the vehicle, and I have had almost no problems with it. Don't go to a lot! Go with CL.

Vort,I know I speak for us all here on this board when I say, from the bottom of my heart: Get some help. Soon. Really. Before your mind deteriorates any further...

I think that we as humans like to have a definitive answer as to the whys of something. In effect, we're all 2 year olds that have learned that most annoying of questions: why? The simple reason is 'because I said so'. It isn't the caffeine, the tannins, the color, the aroma, that mouthwatering sweetness or deliciousness of it.....sorry, I digressed. Our HF doesn't have to give us reasons why or why not. We simply are commanded to obey. Then we have a choice: do I or don't I? As for which teas are 'good' and which are 'bad', I'll go with what I learned many many years ago in Japan. Tea leaves are bad. We aren't to drink drinks made, dunked, saturated, steeped, boiled or chilled with them. In Japan you will not hold a TR if you drink them, which include green, brown, black, oolong, chai and a myriad other teas made with tea leaves. Other teas, such as buckwheat tea (a personal favorite) and other herbal teas that are made from things OTHER than tea leaves are okay (unless, of course, you are drinking 'crack tea'). Check your label if in doubt. The Prophet Joseph was counseled in the D&C that there would be conspiring men in the last days that would try to make money doing things that aren't for our benefit. I remember when I was at BYU many, many years ago when wine coolers first came out how some of the people there drank them because they thought it wasn't 'really' wine. Huh?? This is the same type of justifying, IMO. We need to be vigilant, and not LOOK for ways around what we've been commanded. My hope is that the tea restriction will be lifted in the CK. I plan on making up for my time here by having sweet tea ALL of the time....
-
If you're breaking the WoW, you will lose your TR. It is one of the questions. Doing it out of ignorance is one thing--doing it anyway after being corrected...another thing altogether...

Exactly. and for the MOST part these guys work hard to protect the company and make the stockholders money, creating wealth for them and for their employees by giving them jobs, etc. Although I believe entertainers and sports people provide a valuable respite from life's problems, let's be honest. These guys are paid to either 1)read other people's thoughts, 2) play a boy's game, or 3) sing/dance. But somehow these guys aren't greedy, they are doing it for 'love' of their profession, not for the money... Uhhh huhhhh. And I go work in the dump that I do because I feel so GOOD afterwards....

John D, No, Russia, China, and India will NEVER sign up for this piece of crap legislation for one very simple reason: they don't want to ruin their own economies! But they'll tell us to do it because in that way they don't have to fight us to destroy us...we'll just do it ourselves. We have come so far in such a short time (10-15 years) in destroying ourselves. We have people in this country that actually think it is a bigger crime to kill an animal than it is to kill a human being. All of this 'sky is falling' crap from Algore and the other leftist loons is simply a power play to regulate everyone's life (but theirs, of course) and make sure that America destroys itself. We are in the midst of a terrible economic situation and we are trying to make it worse....Heaven help us all...

Masala chai (Hindi मसाला चाय: masālā cāy, "spiced tea") is a beverage from the Indian subcontinent made by brewing tea with a mixture of aromatic Indian spices and herbs.[1] By itself, chai is merely the generic word for tea in Hindi and many other languages around the world, but for many English speakers outside those regions, particularly in the Western hemisphere, "chai" automatically implies "masala chai". Conversely however "chai" or "char" is also British slang, referring to tea. Chai tea is simply saying 'tea tea'. It is tea. It isn't herbal.

We're slowing moving towards a society where we don't interact personally. First, we emailed, then texted, twittered, facebooked, myspaced, etc., to the point where people have web spouses and have web lives, all built on someone you don't know except by their web name. And the 15 mins of fame thing that is so prevalent now IS hurting people from getting a job. I know that HR departments will google names and then check out what has or has not been said, or what those people have said, posted, etc., on line. Satan is letting loose all of the big guns in these last days to deceive the elect and lead them astray. Nothing per se wrong with anything on the internet, but if you do it too much to where it becomes an obsession then maybe you need to 'log off'.
-
But, are you then saying that we teach the kids to be modest so that they can NOT be when they are adults, since they are adults? To what purpose then teach them to be modest unless it is to teach them that they should dress that way their entire lives? I watched a bit of the trailer on the website. Gotta say, that is one well endowed momma, and the camera made sure that THAT was emphasized about every 5 seconds. But since she is doing it for breast cancer, THAT must have been why they were falling out of her dress. Sure hope she doesn't have any daughters that decide when they are 14 or so to dress like a tramp to get the boys' attention, you know, because dear old MOM did it to prove a point. Because, well, THAT would be wrong... Either you're in or you're out. You can't say one thing and then do another. And say what you will, these women were out to embarrass the church.
-
In reading the article, yeah, the only reason given for him being ex'd was for making calendars that are in poor taste. Since when do we, as a church, WANT to be accepted by the world or their standards? And the 'cover muffin mom' talked of how she got 'mad' that the church was so unfair to the creator Chad when she knew nothing of the circumstances. Satan shall lead them CAREFULLY down to hell, or so Nephi claims. I don't know anything of these women, but it seems that this calendar, just like 'men on a mission' is an attempt to make the church and its people look foolish. And there are consequences to that, whether you want them or not...

It is an interesting question, but I know that I HAVE been steered to make certain decisions. My agency wasn't taken from me--far from it. But I had certain feelings that made my original choice seem wrong. And in another instance a friend of a friend had a lead for a job, and then I ended up here, where we were desparately needed (along with about 4 other families in our ward). In another instance, we were prayed into another ward. Perhaps it is different for us as Christians that want to do God's will. We lay our agency before God, saying basically 'do with me what you will' and then he gives it back (obviously) but does put us where we're needed, either in a job, a move, a calliing, etc.
-
I know that it does happen, as it has happened in our family. Does that therefore show that God is manipulating another's agency to grant us an answer to a prayer? I don't know that manipulation is the right word. Softening another's heart, perhaps. Giving them inspiration/revelation, perhaps. Steering them in a course that meets the intended result, perhaps.

Adam-ondi-Ahman and Far West Sacred Ground

22 And it came to pass that Satan cried with a loud voice, with weeping, and wailing, and gnashing of teeth; and he departed hence, even from the presence of Moses, that he beheld him not.(Moses 1:22) I read your post, and it was amazing to say the least. But as you can see, Satan did the same with Moses. Justice I think hit the nail on the head: it was more of a rant and rave temper tantrum rather than a sign of sorrow... -

I turned it off. Before the end of the 3rd qtr. They had Chad Lewis on KSL, and after they were done with him, I just thought: why put myself thru this anymore? So I turned KSL off and watched the Florida/Miss State game instead. The Cougs problem is that they just don't have the killer instinct. Alabama today should have lost that game. Twice. But they refused to lose, they did what they had to in order to win. Same with Iowa in East Lansing tonight. Our Cougars choke. They don't have that attitude that they just won't lose, no matter what. Saw it last year (?) in the basketball game with Wake Forest. The Cougs played with them for 38.5 mins, and should have won. But Wake Forest was determined to not lose, period, and so they didn't. Why don't we have that instinct? Always a bridesmaid, never a bride. Maybe they ought to make another version of '28 Dresses' and have the Cougars play Kathy Heidl's role...

Listening to the BYU-TCU game is causing me to cry!

I'm not so sure. If BYU wins tonight and then runs the table, they will have 1 loss, and will have beaten 2 top 10 teams. And I'm not so sure that there will be that many undefeateds left. Either Florida or Alabama are going to have 1 loss no matter what (if they end up meeting in the SEC Championship game, one will have to lose), Texas has been, IMO, less than dominant, etc. Granted, BYU won't play for the national championship, but they may get invited if they run the table. I was thinking today, watching College Gameday, that the BCS guys are a bunch of scaredy cats. You know, Boise State went in and won in a BCS bowl game, Utah did it last year quite handily, etc. I love the Bowl season, but for them to keep certain leagues out is stupid. Let's face it, parity has reached college football. But BYU has to play flawlessly. And they have to kill TCU tonight.
