The inability of the formerly united States to conduct a presidential election perceived by the vast majority of participants to be free and fair is quite puzzling and extremely surprising to this particular outsider.

With 27 amendments, isn't it a little too late to start talking about saving the constitution? The first time it was changed/amended it ceased to be in its original condition and every change since then has only taken it further away from its original condition. Might the elders of Israel have already failed in there opportunity to save the constitution when Utah voted to repeal Prohibition?

Where I live, we haven't had an active case of commission transmission of covid since about June. And yet it was only a month ago that we started having all the ward being able to attend sacrament meeting instead of what had been happening since about April, when the number of people allowed to attend had been cut in half due to social distancing requirements. There has been some speculation that Priesthood and Relief Society meetings might resume early next year, but nobody knows for sure yet if or when that will happen. Priesthood and Relief SOciety have been having lessons via Zoom since about May, but Sacrement meeting has only been broadcast via Zoom just once. I believe these same sort of practices have been in place for most of Australia, except for the state of Victoria, which only resumed face to face meetings last Sunday. I don't believe that Stake PResidents, in this part of the world, have much discretion about what meetings to run, when, and how, as I think those decisions are coming out of the Area Office. -
The answer might be evolution. We have perhaps arrived at the version of the plan that we have because over time, through trial and error, this version was found to be more effective than all of the other plans that were previously in existence, but which have now become extinct because they weren't sufficiently successful.

I suspect that the law of entropy applies to social constructs as well, meaning that without some sort of external influence, things will gradually decay and fall apart. When applied to the specific "social construct" of the plan of salvation, that outside influence which prevents it from falling apart could be God, and as He is the one that is keeping it going, it could be described as His plan. Another possibility: How much difference is there really, between certain types of car models produced by different manufacturers? Some of them look almost identical, but you can bet that there are seperate sets of plans behind each model and one is definetely a Honda while the other is a Toyota. As to the idea of this current version of the plan of salvation (version 3Bii) as being something that "just has to be done" I think time and the universe are big enough to allow for the possibility or perhaps even the probability of multiple different outcomes and multiple ways of achieving each outcome. The plan we are operating under is aimed at achieving one particular outcome under one particular path.

This reminds me of the importance of word order. It has such a different meaning if the word order is slightly rearranged to I dated a stripper once

Life, Death and an Isotropic Universe:

33 And worlds without number have I created; and I also created them for mine own purpose; and by the Son I created them, which is mine Only Begotten. 34 And the first man of all men have I called Adam, which is many. 35 But only an account of this earth, and the inhabitants thereof, give I unto you. For behold, there are many worlds that have passed away by the word of my power. And there are many that now stand, and innumerable are they unto man; but all things are numbered unto me, for they are mine and I know them. (Pearl of Great Price | Moses 1:33 - 35) Elder McConkie and Elder Callister have both taught that Christ's infinite atonement covered all of God's creations, no matter which world they lived on. -
Is it just a coincidence that Trump is claiming fraud only in those States in which he hasn't done well? Surely someone who was primarily motivated by concerns about the fairness and accuracy of the election would want to investigate all seemingly legitimate claims of electoral fraud regardless of how it impacted on their own electoral prospects.

I think that a lot of the problems here come from various participants trying to persuade others of the rightness of their own views while trying to convince others of the wrongness of the others' views. I don't come here to debate, I come here to ask questions and get answers. The answers may or may not be right, but they generally inform my thinking about a particular question I have in mind, and for that I'm thankful. If you look back through the history of my posts, you will rarely see me attempting to argue a particular point or trying to persuade or dissuade someone. That is not why I am here. I'm here to gather thoughts, information, ideas and perspectives. I feel no need to bring others around to my view point or encouraging them to change their mind, I'm happy for people to have their own opinions rather than having mine. It's my own little philosophy that there are very, very few things that can be known for certain, and the only things that can be known for certain are those things that are revealed by the Spirit. Such truths are generally not found through hammering things out in arguements on a discussion board. It seems to me that there are very few matters that are discussed here in absolute terms, and that most of the matters discussed are where to draw the line between two opposing positions, rather than whether or not one or both of those positions should exist at all. When trying to draw the line between two positions, I think that one person's opinion is as good as anyone else's, and if someone ends up in an incorrect position, that is between them and God. I'm also of the view that when you get right down to it, many people's opinions are derived from their feelings rather than the facts. It seems to be an emotional, subjective decision on how much weight to put on particular fact, and which facts to rely on and which to discard, and emotions are not readily amenable or responsive to logical discussion.

Fro mmy scripture reading this morning: Titus, 3: 1- 4 1 Put them in mind to be asubject to bprincipalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work, 2 To aspeak evil of no man, to be bno brawlers, but gentle, shewing all cmeekness unto all men. 3 For we ourselves also were asometimes foolish, bdisobedient, deceived, serving divers clusts and pleasures, living in dmalice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. 4 But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, and verse 9 9 But avoid afoolish questions, and genealogies, and bcontentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain.

Just by way of information, in Australia, I think the consitution mandates a compulsory retirement age of 70 for the judges in our highest court. -
I accept that there might be some difficulty in trying to calculate the hour or the day of the second coming. I'm not as convinced that it would be equally difficult to calculate the month or the year. The scriptures are very specific in referring only to the hour and the day.

Its my observation that for speaking assignments given at the last minute, Bishopric members often leave it up to the speaker to set their own topic, probably in the hope or belief that that makes it easier for the person preparing the talk. It gives them the opportunity choose a subject that they are already familiar and comfortable with.
