I can imagine that.  My wife used to be a public school teacher, so she is accustomed to the effort.  We have a dedicated homeschool room where she works her magic with the kids.  I think it is fair to say that the majority of her time as a mother is spent teaching and preparing.

Great micro-essay @Vort. I didn't even realize it was an old thread but nonetheless exactly applicable to us right now. Thumbs up to the weirdo Latter-day Saints!!
P.s. Wasn't aware of the tattoo/piercing slave connection until now, cool fun info.

Pornography has become freely available, perhaps moreso than at any other time in history. Society is saturated with sex, which is portrayed and discussed at every turn. Yet despite this -- indeed, because of this -- an upcoming generation of young men find themselves largely unable to engage in normal sexual relations, because regular women just do not appeal to them. They require increasingly perverse and decadent stimulation even to feel sexual arousal.Meanwhile, those sexually repressed Mormons keep on chuggin' along...

Women have more legal rights than at any other time in history. In point of fact, the educational institutions of today cater to girls and young women at the expense of boys and young men, who are largely relegated to second-class status. Yet women freely give up their rights, power, and status to pursue vanities, and turn their backs on their own divine endowments and inborn abilities as women by avoiding children and families, or in other cases pursuing motherhood as an independent activity instead of a partnerhood, along the lines of a career choice or vacation destination.Meanwhile, those Mormon women build actual communities of caring individuals and raise intact, functioning, happy families...

Relationships are front and center in our society. You cannot turn on the television without a soap opera of some sort bleating from the speakers, whether in a forensics show, action-adventure, comedy, or...well...soap opera. Women's magazines rake in millions of readers and dollars discussing every nuance of interpersonal activity. It's as if the entire nation is in a constant, never-ending Relationship Therapy session. Yet the political environment has rarely been so toxic and never more polarized. The Satan-inspired "war between the sexes" is, if anything, stronger than it was during the 1970s feminists-burning-their-bras days with the heady, man-hating rhetoric of Andrea Dworkin. As our 50%+ divorce rate and head-spinning flight from marriage demonstrate, if there is anything our generation is incapable of doing well, it is making and supporting intimate interpersonal relationships.Meanwhile, those backward Mormons keep marrying each other "for time and all eternity", with a divorce rate less than half of the population as a whole...

The cult of individualism has taken over Western thought. Each person is believed to be utterly unique and is encouraged to find his or her own personal path to fulfillment or enlightenment or whatever. "Conformity" is, in the eyes of many, the worst possible sin, to be met only with contempt and derision. Yet the result is hordes of people running out to get their bodies pierced and tatted up -- both of which are ancient and long-standing symbols of slavery -- so that they can be unique and individualistic, just like all their friends. Morality, such as it is, is strictly a lowest-common-denominator affair. The wonder of individuality is celebrated by what color you want to spray-paint your head today.Meanwhile, those Mormon zombies keep teaching antiquated moralism to their brainwashed brats, resulting in young adults who make rational decisions based on their own well-considered values...

Tolerance is the deity of the modern American intellectual. The word itself is a shibboleth of social status; how are we to get along without genuflecting at the altar of the great god Tolerance? Indeed, we must absolutely tolerate (by which we mean "accept and embrace") all manner of sexual deviance and antisocietal actions, thus showing how emotionally and societally evolved we are. Yet this idea of "tolerance" applies only to the ideas accepted by those who push tolerance. Indeed, to champion any idea that does not agree with the group Goodthink is to ensure one's marginal status and invite mockery from the Tolerance crowd.Meanwhile, those shamelessly intolerant Mormons keep preaching their hateful brand of what they call "morality" while simultaneously inviting everyone to join them and worship their God...
The only reasonable conclusion: Mormons are weirdos.

We put our kids into a private school a few years ago.  They've been thriving.  So has the school.  There is a waiting list so long, we don't know if we can keep up.  We've been blessed with a generous benefactor.  They've purchased more properties to build new schools.  They've asked me to head up the efforts in developing the properties.
This may seem like a simple business model.  But it is more than that.
People are waiting in line because they see what is happening.  They know that they can no longer simply "hope" that the public school system won't corrupt their kids.  The School Administrator said in a meeting that we need to build these schools faster because too many families are concerned about what their children being taught.
Boys are girls and girls are boys.  They're racist even when they've never even had a racist thought in their lives. They're being taught that homosexuality is superior to hetrosexuality.  And "pansexuals" are the most tolerant of all.  They're being taught that government running your life is the best way to live.  They're being taught that the United States is the most evil, racist, oppressive nation that has ever been established on this earth. Now, consider those last two and recognize just how contradictory the mindset is to accept such ideas.

What are conservatives establishing as of late?
What 'action' are conservatives willing to actually do about issues facing us as a nation OR are 'we' (myself included) sitting on the sidelines neutralized simply watching things play out?
Every time I see a parent stand up at a School board meeting and voice their concerns over issues like CRT, I witness some glimmer of hope.
We need more of this, more action.

Are you (generic you), are we members of the Church?

Or coffee.  Or any other number of things.   I don't feel the need to point out to Saints that they are sinning.  They already know.  HOWEVER, as an adult convert, I. can tell you that it was extremely confusing to see Saints openly drinking beer, coffee, or other things as though it were normal and still tell others how to be good Saints.   I have zero problem pointing out to others that a person's example may not be the best to follow.

It drove me nuts and made things difficult.  It was worse on this forum when other Saints didn't call it out.  It's confusing and not exactly in the spirit of ministry.

Well, my wife and I took our kids out of the public school system and are homeschooling them, that is the action we have taken.  There is some expansion in the works on that to create a local homeschool co-op.  I would suggest one of the most effective things that could be done would be for people to leave the public school system en masse.  Then you have complete control over what is being taught to your children, and the principles of the Constitution and liberty can be instilled within them at home.

NeedleinA reacted to Fether in I think I need to see a therapist...
Specifically for people who haven’t had traumatic events in their live, I doubt it’s effectiveness for a couple reasons
For therapy to really work, you need a GREAT therapist. Not an ok one, not a good one. You NEED someone who is both knowledgeable, but also someone you can respect and trust. There are not a ton of those. I have seen probably 6 or so. One was great, one was really good, three were good, one was awful. The only time I felt like I got anything from the paycheck I cut was with the very first one and the one that I thought was great. All the others were just ok… stuff I could have YouTubed really.
Also,  I’m not really the type of person that benefits from long term therapy. There was a point where I was like “I know just as much as this guy/gal with a PHD.” After the first 5 or so visits, everything just became repeats. My wife, who is far more emotional than I am, even agreed with me.
I think everyone should see a therapist in the same way so think everyone should take a Philosophy 101 class. Learn just enough basics so you think critically and understand the basics a good argument or reasoning. I think there is value to be had in seeing the process of how to deal with emotions, things that maybe were not taught to you growing up.

Therapy is probably more useful for those going through or working through traumatic experiences.

A couple thoughts - I recently saw a headline about leaked documents from the Iowa school system and what teachers are forced to classify as racist thanks to CRT. You might want to google it.
My other thought - Years ago, a RS teacher shared a quote from Ezra Taft Benson saying that in the last days, most would be teaching their kids at home (I've looked for the quote from time to time and haven't found it yet). Anyway, how much nonsense does there need to be before parents finally say enough and pull their kids out for good whether it's crt, violence, bullying, lack of morality in the halls, etc?

To expand on Suzie's quote, and just to reinforce what is and what is not being said [emphasis added]:
    Handbook 26.5.7:
Worthy members who identify as transgender but do not pursue a medical, surgical, or social transition to the gender opposite of their biological sex at birth (“sex reassignment”) may receive a temple recommend and temple ordinances.
Temple ordinances are received according to a person’s biological sex at birth. For this reason, the following members may not receive a temple recommend, including a limited-use recommend:
Members who have received elective medical or surgical intervention for the purpose of attempting to transition
Members who have socially transitioned to the gender opposite of their biological sex at birth
In other words, if you feel gender dysphoria and thus identify as "transgender", the mere identification of self as such is not considered something that prevents temple attendance. But acting on those feelings, as in pursuing even a "social transition to the gender opposite of [one's] biological sex at birth", does indeed preclude temple attendance.
I'm all for showing love and tolerance at Church, and for that matter in all aspects of our lives. That is what Christ would do, and what each of us should do who have taken his name. I confess that I am bothered by the seemingly unmitigated hypocrisy of those Saints who insist on criticizing, berating, and pointing out the flaws of their fellow Saints who are uncomfortable with open displays of homosexuality or gender dysphoria, yet themselves exhibit discomfort with displays of e.g. pedophilic or racist tendencies. Such virtue-signaling strikes me as pride-based and phony.

I can’t give the sort of answer the OP requests, but I will point out that the Utah legislature recently passed HR 901.  The resolution expresses concerns about CRT, but substantively limits its restriction against the adoption of CRT in schools (“recommendations”, really) to the following:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives strongly recommends that the Utah State Board of Education review standards for curriculum and ensure that the following concepts are not included in the curriculum standards:
              ▸     that one race is inherently superior or inferior to another race;
▸     that an individual should be discriminated against or receive adverse treatment because of the individual's race; or
▸     that an individual's moral character is determined by the individual's race.
The weeping, wailing, and gnashing of teeth that this resolution elicited from the usual suspects, leads me to conclude that CRT is basically a pretext for impending Maoist-type “struggle sessions”—or worse.
You may not be interested in the race hustlers, but they are very interested in you.

I'm not saying always, but many times...
we simply just need someone (set of ears) outside of our circle of friends/family/associates that we can vomit our feelings/thoughts upon. No worries of it coming back to bite us. I struggle with X, I think about Y, I'm great at A but fail at B, I hate M and don't give a rat's behind about L, so on and so forth.
Over the years, I'm less and less under the illusion that the person needed to accomplish this needs to be a 'therapist'. Especially with the caliber of therapist I see more and more.
There is a great weight that can be lifted by simply verbalizing things out loud.
This in part, is a small reason, why I think Bishops are such a valuable tool to many members... they just need to share X with someone in confidence.

This is what concerns me whenever I hear CRT, and it even more concerns me when people seek to promote it (skip to 45 seconds and goes to 1:30 seconds). I have mentioned this before. My oldest went to a symposium at UVU where he was specifically told that because he is "white/caucasian" he is racist. It doesn't matter how you feel, what your actions say, if you are white you are racist.

These are the definitions as given in the articles.  And this is about as good as it gets.
These definitions can actually have some beneficial educational applications.  And I'd applaud it if that were the way it is applied.
The reality of how it has been applied is somewhat different.
    1) I believe that the history of this country certainly shows rampant examples of systemic racism.  I don't know if anyone could disagree with that statement if one knows history.
    2) I believe that we've made HUGE strides in eliminating these vestiges from our legal system.  I don't know if anyone could disagree with that statement if one knows history.
    3) I believe we cannot completely get rid of ANY stupid behavior (yes, racism is stupid.  I said it.) among humanity just like we cannot completely get rid of crime.  We keep it to a minimum and do the best we can to deal with the minimum, just deal with it as best we can.
Question: Are we about as good as any flawed, mortal system is ever going to get?
    ???
The reason why we can't give clear definitions of what it would look like in schools is that it has indeed been applied differently from location to location and from teacher to teacher.  There really isn't any clear definition.  It is just the "general idea" that "systemic racism exists".  The "what do we do about that" is left out of "official definitions" because part of the strategy of implementation is to allow the imagination to run wild.  And that is where things can get weird depending on the specifics of policy and the notions of teachers and  other individuals.
It could be as simple as "raising awareness" and let people know, "No, belittling someone because of their race is not acceptable" to "kill any white person you see in your neighborhood" (yes, that has happened because of CRT).
With that wide range, one would think that people should be responsible for their own interpretations. Yes.  But it is interesting how much people have their interpretations "steered" by people who don't say much.
What do you think is the likely emotional response to people being told "There is nothing you can do.  This oppression will always be over your head.  And THOSE guys are responsible"?  If you teach it so that someone absolutely believes that, what is the natural reaction?  No manipulation there.
