  1. Isn't wine supposed to get better with age?
  2. Rare Possessions Podcast I'm not sure how well this fits into what you're looking for, but one of my facebook friends posted it and I figure at least somebody here might appreciate it. And if I post here I'll probably be able to find the link again more quickly than if I have to hunt it down again on facebook a month from now. "The Rare Possessions Podcast will dig into the archives at Book of Mormon Central to find rare, and valuable works that focus on the Book of Mormon. Each each a new episode will feature a brief interview with archivist, Jared Riddick, about the next chapter of the book being presented, followed by host and narrator, Nick Galieti, reading a chapter of the book in audio book format. Stay tuned each week for the next chapter, and to learn more about these lesser-well known books that teach about the Book of Mormon."
  3. @BJ64 Have you read Fire of the Covenant? That one has one of my great-great-great-grandfathers in it, which may contribute to why it and the Kingdom and the Crown series are among my favorites by Lund. I'm not very good at identifying what exactly specific books have done for me, but I can say that books I've read that stand out to me include The God Who Weeps by Terryl and Fiona Givens, Way to Be by Gordon B. Hinckley, and Women of the Old Testament by Camille Fronk Olson (though I don't think I finished that one). I saved some quotes from The Fortunate Fall by Daniel K. Judd, so I can look up those to see what about it touched me.
  4. I'm mostly interested in remembering what I remembered and what I thought about.
  5. And I guess on the lifestyle front, @anatess2 can talk about love and @Carborendum and @Vort can discuss homeschooling? I haven't listened to many podcasts in the past, but I have been thinking of starting to listen to gospel-related stuff while exercising, and this thread may prove helpful for that.
  6. Have you checked out the Mormon Channel podcasts? https://www.mormonchannel.org/listen/series
  7. So, @zil can do the tattoo episode. @MormonGator can tell about compound living. @mirkwood takes the Halloween special. What other topics should we cover?
  8. I was always the fastest reader in my classes at school. At least in the ones where we were expected to read certain texts during class periods. I always read every word during these periods. My dad once took a test that followed the focus of his eyes to see how fast they could move across a screen or page or something. He scored significantly higher than average. If this was a good test, then it seems likely that a reason for my ability to read quickly is because my eyes move quickly. As for speed reading, I never saw the appeal. Likely because I read quickly without having to skip words. And while I can see the utility of taking in an entire page of text in one glance, I don't think I'd enjoy it nearly as much as reading word by word, start to finish. Especially for novels. I don't suppose that's something that can be turned on and off, depending on the purpose of the reading?
  9. Taking away objects from dangerous actors. Taking away objects from all actors.
  10. Experience of past answers combined with the knowledge that I have a Heavenly Father who loves me and my trust in Him. Dear Heavenly Father. Then just say what you want or need to say. Thank Him for things that have gone well in your life and anything or anybody that has helped in your trials. Ask questions you need or want answers to. Ask for whatever help you need. Talk about whatever is going on in your life and your thoughts on whatever you are asking about, and why you want or think you need what you are asking for. See my answers to your first question. If possible, find a quiet place where you can be free from distractions for a while. Stay and listen after the prayer. You might want to have something available to write any impressions/thoughts/feelings you receive during or after the prayer. And remember that sometimes the answer is "no" or "not now". Try to be prepared for that possibility.
  11. Depends on how you define soul mate. If it is the one person who you can be happy with forever, then no. But I do know at least three couples in real life where at least one received a clear witness early on, not like something they would have thought themselves, that they should marry a certain person. If they had disregarded that impression or if the other person completely rejected them, however, I'm sure they could have found somebody else and everything would work out eventually. And I thought the Spencer W. Kimball quote was saying that almost any righteous pairing could make it work.
  12. A couple weeks ago I was wondering what was going on in my cousin's young son's mind. This lead to thoughts of the speculations some have made about the veil not being fully there yet for babies, then thoughts about when the veil would be removed from our minds. And then I wondered if when the veil was removed, we would remember our babiehoods. What do you think? Will we remember what it was like to be babies? Will we remember what we knew and remembered as babies? If so, when do you think these memories will be restored?
  13. Now I'm wondering whether I need any sort of permit to carry a dagger concealed on my person (might be difficult to conceal a sword). And where I could get training in defending myself with one.
  14. But it is appropriate to use my gun on the creepy guys who want directions to the grocery store or the community college, right?
  15. As a shy extrovert with actual introverts in my immediate family, I really appreciate reading this. So much of what I see online about the qualities of introverts applies as much to me as to them. Sometimes more. And it can be frustrating.
  16. The first several times I saw the thread title, I read it as "Comparing RGB Systems".
  17. And on a more cooperative note, aside from what's already been mentioned, I've had sugared almonds and hard-boiled eggs.
  18. Raspberry vinaigrette. Poppy-seed dressing. Italian dressing. Ranch. Usually only one at a time.
  19. Not sure if you've received your call yet, but I thought I'd let you know that when my brothers opened theirs, I'm pretty sure it was just my parents, us kids, and my grandparents.
  20. What if I don't minister and am not ministered to? All I see left is outer darkness...
  21. I actually have watched that. It doesn't make my favorite movies list mainly because the story of Mr. Oberkugen and his violin broke my heart.
  22. The Shop Around the Corner. And You've Got Mail. Because I like the story, I guess. And Remington Steele, because that show could make me smile during a very difficult period of my life.
