    No, you don’t; because it was explained to you well over two weeks ago (by me) (in this very thread) that:
    It’s important to note that at the time of the vision Joseph also sees his own parents in the Celestial Kingdom—even though they were still alive at the time of the vision.  Thus the vision represents the future (or at least, a potential future), not the 1836 status quo.  The vision should not be interpreted as suggesting that Alvin received his exaltation before/without receiving the covenant rituals that are associated with salvation.

    Alvin was baptized. As soon as the doctrine of baptism for the dead was revealed,  Joseph Smith had his older brother Hyrum vicariously baptized for their beloved deceased older brother. When Joseph Smith had this vision in 1836 his father and his mother were still alive! Joseph Smith Sr died in 1840, 4 years after the vision, and Luck Mack Smith died in 1856, 20 years after the vision. So what the prophet Joseph Smith saw in 1836 was a vision of his Father, Mother, and brother Alvin as they would be in the future, after the final judgment and the resurrection.of the dead.
    All those who inherit the celestial kingdom of post-resurrected glory must first be baptized either in the flesh or vicariously after death for the remission of sins. Doctrine and Covenants 76 testifies that the inheritors of the Celestial glory “are they who received the testimony of Jesus, and believed on his name and were baptized after the manner of his burial, being buried in the water in his name, and this according to the commandment which he has given...”

    It’s appears obvious you’ve  never read the Book of Mormon, or if you have you didn’t retain the information found therein that answers your question. Do you remember anything about the Brass Plates, written in Hebrew, that the Nephites brought with them to America from the Holy Land?
    If you keep trying to play gotcha while remaining in ignorance of the LDS basics, you’re going to continue to needlessly paint yourself in a negative light.

    Of course they’re still going to be anxiously engaged in the Lord’s work. But isn’t the the original question that kicked off this thread focused on whether or not the work of salvation performed while in the flesh is a greater work than the work of salvation performed in the post-mortal spirit world? The point I’m trying to make is that Doctrine and Covenants 138 makes it clear the work or salvation performed in the spirit world is carried out only by righteous spirits who have not yet received the resurrection, so the verses quoted from Doctrine and Covenants couldn’t possibly be comparing the relative importance of the work of salvation on earth with the work of salvation in the spirit world.

    You know, you might be right. Desecration might have been the word I was going for. They are close phonetically (yes, yes, I know not perfectly). The more I think about what I was saying desecration is probably the word I was meaning to use.

    From an online dictionary:
    Discretion: “the quality of behaving or speaking in such a way as to avoid causing offense or revealing private information: "she knew she could rely on his discretion" 2.the freedom to decide what should be done in a particular situation:”
    I thought you might have been going for the word ‘desecration?’ “Desecration is the act of depriving something of its sacred character, or the disrespectful, contemptuous, or destructive treatment of that which is held to be sacred or holy by a group or individual.”

    Because in the pre-earth life we were fully informed about what would happen as a consequence of the fall, and then after being fully informed about what we would face and experience, we voluntarily decided to partake of the fallen nature because we knew it was the only way to continue to progress toward greater spiritual empowerment and happiness. If we had had no say in the matter, then it indeed would have been unjust.

    Wow.  Further evidence that you didn't come across it in honest study.  You only have the cherry picked snippet to work with.  Poor dear.
    The answer to this question is in the very text that you pretend to have discovered all on your own in your "earnest" search for the truth.  Maybe if you actually read it, you wouldn't need to post such a question on an anonymous internet forum.
    In other words, when the average Latter-day Saint doesn't have a copy handy to look up the context for themselves, you'll figure out what ways to cherry pick statements to twist their meanings again?
    Thank you for yet again confirming your motivations.
    And thank you for showing another tactic that you're using.  Once I point to the truth (the survival of the Latter-day Kingdom of God being preserved by the Hand of the Lord) you have to shift to divert attention from one weakness in your position to another weak position.

    That's Pero, BTW.

    You’re missing Nephi’s central point. He’s saying that unless a man comes unto Christ and is reconciled unto to God by embracing and internalizing the transformative redemptive power offered to him through the atoning sacrifice, that man can never be saved no matter how hard he tries to live a life that will prove he is righteous. Growing in the grace and knowledge of God by faithfully and conscientiously living the Gospel of Christ does indeed bring positive spiritual growth toward ultimate exaltation, but only after first coming unto Christ in faith and being reconciled to God through the Savior’s atonement. Even the inheritors of the Telestial Kingdom will be required to bow the knee to God the Father and confess to him that Jesus is the Christ before they will be permitted to enter into that kingdom of post-resurrection glory.
    109 But behold, and lo, we saw the glory and the inhabitants of the telestial world, that they were as innumerable as the stars in the firmament of heaven, or as the sand upon the seashore;
    110 And heard the voice of the Lord saying: These all shall bow the knee, and every tongue shall confess to him who sits upon the throne forever and ever;
    111 For they shall be judged according to their works, and every man shall receive according to his own works, his own dominion, in the mansions which are prepared; (D&C 76)
    10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
    11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Philippians 2)

    I believe @Jersey Boy was responding to the original question asking what fundamental difference exists between The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints versus other Christian denominations. His response is that the Restored Church is "the only true and living church upon the face of the whole earth". I don't think he was attempting to answer why he believes that.

    Samuel’s point is clear: The infinite and eternal atoning sacrifice of Christ, the ultimate act of divine love, is so powerful and complete that all men are are unconditionally redeemed from physical death by his resurrection,  and all are unconditionally redeemed from spiritual death, and thereby brought back into the immediate presence of God, without any effort on their part.. The only problem is that after this “free ride” back into the immediate presence of God not all will feel comfortable and at home there, so they will retreat from the fulness of the intensity of divine light and back to a less intense realm of light where they will feel more comfortable and at home.

    I prophesy in the name of the Lord God of Israel, unless the United States redress the wrongs committed upon the Saints in the state of Missouri and punish the crimes committed by her officers that in a few years the government will be utterly overthrown and wasted, and there will not be so much as a potsherd left, for their wickedness in permitting the murder of men, women and children, and the wholesale plunder and extermination of thousands of her citizens to go unpunished, thereby perpetrating a foul and corroding blot upon the fair fame of this great republic, the very thought of which would have caused the high-minded and patriotic framers of the Constitution of the United States to hide their faces with shame.

    As I was pondering upon current events in light of the Pearl of Great Price a thought struck me.  In the pre-existence a war started between those who supported the Savior's plan and those who tried to push a different plan.  I do not think it there was mortal death involved at the time...so what type of war would it be.
    I think it was a war of words, a clash of cultures, and a battle to convince the other side to think or act in a manner supporting their position in any way possible.
    In many ways, I think it was similar to what we are currently seeing occur in the US.  There is probably an active push to change the culture and society in the US, but rather than fighting with guns (yet), it is being fought by protest, riot, and many other means that overall involve words and action, but not the type of bloodshed we normally see in wars.
    That does not mean I do not sympathize with what some of the reasons that those who say they support BLM are protesting.  I think in some cases they have a valid complaint and these things should be addressed.  Police SHOULD serve the public, and in some areas the do not.  There should not be such stupid policies as ticket quotas.  There should not be search and seizure where seizure is pushed by the department so that they can make more money.  There should be things put in place to negate such ideas as they act against the supporting and serving the public.
    On the otherhand, there are many good departments which should probably be praised more and supported more.  The good that officers do should be highlighted in an effort to inspire others to also do as good.
    Unfortunately, there are those in the US today that say they want to make changes, but in truth simply want to destroy.  They want to destroy the police, but it is more than just the police, it is anything dealing with the history and culture of the US, or at least that is what seems to be coming out recently.  They are committed to destroy it, or at least some of their leaders are, and they are fighting in everyway they feel they can.
    In this way, I think it is very reflective of how the War in Heaven began.  I think that War that started in Heaven continues today on this earth and there are many things that happen (that hurt, ad sometimes perhaps even kill individuals as we are now mortal) that are extensions of that war.
