Why doesn't the church, which has billions of dollars provide at least some sort of health insurance for their missionaries?

Does anyone know what the Philadelphia, PA temple will look like?

I predict if Max Hall enters the NFL he could be a great quarterback just like Steve Young. 303 passing yards in the last game. Totally awesome!

Should a former member like myself, who is trying to come back to the church pay tithing or not? Even though I plan on attending, however I am not considered a member.

Update
MichaelPAGuy replied to MichaelPAGuy's topic in Learn about The Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints
I did go to church today. I stayed for the first 2 hours and I must say I had a great experience. I was very nervous about going back. Once I got in, I saw the missionaries who I have been meeting with. They even offered to sit with me. A few people even came up to me and said how nice it was to see me again. One of them, I grew up with his son in the church when I attended. They really made me feel at home. It was a very positive experience and I look forward to going back. Even Tuesday when I have the missionaries over for dinner. -
Is this something you want to keep hidden, where in the future maybe your fiance could find out. It's best to get it out in the open now, deal with it and let the cards fall where they will. You will be a much better person for it.

Mitt Romney the person, not the politician
MichaelPAGuy replied to Heather's topic in General Discussion
If you know who would get elected, Do you think he might offer Mitt Romney a spot in his cabinet? If so, what spot? Maybe Secretary of State? -
I know I will talk about the NFL here, but if the NY Giants can beat the New England Patriots then, BYU can beat Michigan. Does anyone smell national championship contention?

Thank you very much Pam...Let me know if my idea becomes a reality. I know jus tthe thought of myself once again being able to enter the temple makes me very happy. One step at a time. It does give me something to look forward to.

What about maybe starting a section dedicated to temples?

Hello Everybody, I just thought I would give everybody an update on my situation. I just met with the missionaries once again. I have made a committment to them to go to church this Sunday. We talked in great length about my situation, and as I have been reading and actively praying I finally feel like I have a full testimony of this wonderful gospel. I now know in my heart that this is where I belong and I am committed to taking the steps to once again becoming a member of the lord's true church. I would once again like to thank everybody for putting up with me in the past and I am thankful that I have finally come around and realized where I belong in this life.

Yes I too supported and loved John Edwards. Heather is right, We can all see where that lead. I do respect Mitt Romney as a person and for everything he has done. I may not always agree with him, but then again, Who here always agrees with every politician? -

How can we know what kind of Mormon Mitt Romney is unless we know him personally? -
I do get all of those channels with my Comcast sports package and I watch the games every once in a while. Sometimes I find them more entertaining than american sports.

How does one receive witness to it?

Salt Lake looks beautiful!

Correect me if I'm wrong, this could just be soly my opinion, Isn't this the church crossing bourdaries between religion and politics? The fact that it is urging it's members in California to donate their own time and money to fight this cause? It's one thing to issue a statement saying how they feel, but when they urge members to join the fight, that is where I think they've crossed the line between religion and politics.

Gospel Culture
MichaelPAGuy replied to pretty_in_pink's topic in Learn about The Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints
Is it true that the LDS church does not like/prefer beards? I say as long as they are kep trimmed. My former bishop shortly after I left the church had a beard. He always has. -
Maybe they are just not interested in the church.
-
The LDS religion is not a cult. People fear the unknown. They don't want to get to know the religion first hand. They only rely on what they hear. Thus, if people rely on what they hear(including negative) and do not get to gain a knowledge of the restored gospel they will always have a fear of it. That is just my 2 cents.

Can you please specify on what the leaders of the church said? Which leader was it? -

If you are afraid of talking to the missionaries on the phone you can go to mormon.org and request to meet with the missionaries over the internet. Just click on the ask a question link and then have missionaries contact me. Then fill out the rest of the info and missionaries will contact you within a few days. -
CandyPrpl that is a very good way of putting it. The polygamy issue is one of the issues that is/was bothering me. You are correct, it was a different time back then.

Does the holy spirit manifest itself to someone in different ways for the truthfullness of this church? I was watching The Work and the Glory yesterday and I cried throughout most of the movie. I actually found myself believing in Joseph Smith again. Here it is almost 24 hours later and I still find myself believing. What does this all mean for me?
