One spouse goes to Celestial, the other does not
MichaelPAGuy replied to Javajot's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
I cannot personally imagine going to the celestial kingdom without my wife. I believe that would be a horrible situation for myself. Except of course I would be in Heavenly Father's presence. -
I am a Non-Mormon living with a Mormon
MichaelPAGuy replied to kjmeyers84's topic in Introduce Yourself
If you do not want mormons preaching to you then just tell the local bishop of your fiance's ward that you want no contact. They will respect that. -
If you are excommunicated or resign from the church you lose your blessings, including the priesthood. When you return and are repabtized after being found worthy, all of your former blessings are restored to you.

My wife and I just got married on January 8 in the Anchorage, AK temple. We both had people pushing us for a big reception or open house before the sealing. We stuck to our choice and decided to keep it small. We had a small brunch after the sealing for people who were at the sealing and a few other invited guests. People were offended and got upset, but it was our day and we enjoyed it.

That is the question here, Are you willing to make the changes that you must make in order to be able to serve a mission and then follow through with those changes and not fall back into your old habits? You need to go talk to your bishop as asson as possible. Let him know before you say anything to him that what you want to tell him must be kept private. Your bishop is not there to judge you, but to help you.

Thank you everybosy for the terrific advice. I believe I am going to meet on Monday with my new asst. manager and see if a compromise can be made. My ward meets at 9 am. Unfortunately, this is the only day that I actually get to spend with my wife for the whole day, but I cannot afford to go start somewhere else. If a compromise means I get to keep my job and still go to church then I will do what is best for my family.

Divorce and LDS attitudes?
MichaelPAGuy replied to rfountain's topic in Marriage and Relationship Advice
If anyone is going to judge you for divorcing an abusive husband then that is their problem and they are not worth your friendship. Do not let it stop you from receiving the benefits of the gospel. Congrats on joining the church and best of luck with everything. Please keep us posted. -
This is my availability. I put it on my application when they hired me. Walmart knew this when they hired me and made me full time. Now we get a new assistant manager and he tells me to either open up my only restriction or lose hours. I just think it is unfair when it is in my availability with the store and they knew this when they hired me and made me full time.

The tv show you are thinking about the doctors in South America is called Off The Map. I absolutely love the show too.

I currently work for Walmart. I have been an employee with the company since October 2009. The company hired me knowing that I would not work on Sundays. I had that put into my availability when I put my application in. Six months later the company made me full time. This weekend my area is receiving a new assistant manager. Earlier today our new assistant manager came to my department and said since we are short handed he wantgs all employees to open up what they can work or be forced to lose hours. This means I have to open up what I will work on Sundays which is the only restriction I have or my hours will be cut every other day I work. I feel this is not fair because I do not want to miss church for work. I feel this is religious discrimination. My department manager says it is not because it is happening to everyone. They both know I am a member of the church and how deeply involved I am in my religion. As I said, the company hired me with this restriction and also made me full time knowing this restriction. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hello all...I just recently received the Melchizedek Priesthood back. I was wondering, What are the steps for consecrating the oil that is used for blessings?

I am currently receiving my associates degree online, after that I intend to transfer to a major university to finish my bachelors. It just depends on what you feel most comfortable with.

I watched the films a few years ago and they left me wanting more. I wanted to know how the story ends, so I started reading the books. I am currently reading book number 6 of 9. The films are a little bit different than the books. From my understanding the reason why no more movies are being made was because the movies lost money. The person who funded the movies decided to pull his money out of the movies because he lost so much money. I wish there could be at least 2 more films in this series. I encourage everyone to read the books. Gerald Lund is a terrific author.

Just my opinion...I honestly think you should have a talk with your friend first and have his permission before sending the missionaries to his home. If he rejects the missionaries it is just waisting everybody's time.

Secrets of the Mormon Temple Revealed!
MichaelPAGuy replied to prisonchaplain's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
Although I cannot enter the temple yet...Hopefully a few more months, I live 10 minutes from the temple in Alaska and I love to just go and sit in my car outside the temple and just ponder. I can even feel the spirit that exists outside the temple on the grounds. -
For myself the reason why I embraced mormonism, even though it took me a very long time to fully embrace it and accept it is because it has the fulness of the gospel. This is truly the lord's true church on this earth. We are lead by a modern prophet whose name is Thomas S. Monson.

No eating out for missionaries?
MichaelPAGuy replied to RachelleDrew's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
I work at a Wal-Mart and we have a McDonalds in the store here, I buy lunch for the Missionaries at McDonalds every Monday. -
My favorite team the Dallas Cowboys did not make it. Oh well. I will pick the Colts to win. Another ring for Peyton & Company.

I recently bought this movie and watched it. I give it 4 stars. I just about cried when the parents of the groom could not see their son's sealing.

Are you worthy? A Campaign against LDS Women
MichaelPAGuy replied to SeattleTruthSeeker's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
A campaign against oppressed women in the church. As many women have said on here, Women can do just as much as men in the church. These groups are not looking at the big picture. Only their side of it. -
I love Brigham City. I own it on DVD. I really need to re-watch it again sometime.

Hello Stallion, You are coming up to Anchorage, Alaska...That is awesome. I just moved up here in September. You will love it as much as I do. There are some awesome missionaries up here right now. Maybe we will run into each other. If you want to know some questions about Alaska or anything else up here just e-mail me at [email protected] and I will be glad to answer.
