  1. I joined the Church I. Germany when there were only 4,000,000 members and being from Georgia where there were few members. As such since there were few members in Germany and Georgia, I am a pioneer. Not to mention my wife's aunt many times removed joined when Missionary activities first started here...she joined, went West and became one of became one of Brigham Young's wives. So pioneer can mean many things. I am the only member in my family (of course my wife, children and grandchildren are members) also makes me a pioneer. So from 4,000,000 when I joined and now 15,000,000 counts for something. Rejoice that (if you are the first) or that your family joined a Church of pioneers. :) God bless you. If we all live long enough, we will one day marvel at how many membership grows too, and we will talk about when the Church was so small and how we helped grow it. I marvel how much it has grown just since I joined and how much it has prospered. At my age, I won't get to see it grow by 3x+, like it has since I joined...but maybe, who knows.
  2. Contention is always of the devil, as he "desires that all Ming be missable unto himself". You might feel good for a short moment be contentious...but it soon passes leaving you with dread, and an overwhelming desire to repent.
  3. Love that song as well. Also love!!! "Carry on my wayward son". "We will rock you" by queen.
  4. Ever at 57, sometimes I feel the need to drive fast listening to such while banging on my air guitar. :)
  5. We have nice restaurants in Atlanta...that way I could come. :)
  6. A Higher Tier I would be content To remain in Hell, If from it's walls I could expel, Those I love To heaven's gate, And spare them from This awful fate! But, alas this thing I cannot do, The choice to make Is up to you. I pray we meet In heaven's sphere, Then be lifted too A higher tier. William E Lee
  7. There is a Catholic board where they have a Mormonism forum. I thought I would join. To my surprise I had joined sometime last year; how do they know who signs on, or remember log on. I seldom log off, is this how they know, or is it my computer that remembers?
  8. I have carried for most of my life. As a police officer I never had to conceal, so now in retirement I just carry my service weapon in open view. My sons wonder why I don't conceal smaller weapons I have, but I find it puts people at ease to see someone not trying to conceal their weapon.
  9. I have always been reluctant to listen to or take part in "end,of the world" narratives. But we have come to live n a word where political correctness will soon lead to disrupted General Conference, then it will move to disruptions in the Temple and Wards and Churches everywhere where congregations hold traditional beliefs. Wars will rage in the Middle East, until the Nation of Israel will have to act, bringing the condemnation and war of the world. Our children will soon grow up in a world where "freedom of thought and conscience" will be a crime. Where police officers (as I was before my retirement) will be hunted, along with those of faith. God help us all...add what you see coming.
  10. The world we have come to live it...that and militant members, seeking to approval of man and the world....being in the world and of the world. Little better than those who stand out on the sidewalks holding signs, yelling and put families and dragging BoM's on the ground on ropes.
  11. Having served in the Army, I feel anger by this and other colleges are calling the American flag "aggressive". When it was thought that Sen Kerry had won the election instead of Bush (on the nightly news, I came into my office in Atlanta City Hall to find that the American flag moved below and the UN flag above it. As a police office I wanted to go ask the Mayor yes. I was ordered not to, for fear I would be fired. It anger me ever day I say it. I don't know what is happening to my country anymore. I once thought about changing it at night a number of times.
  12. Yes we are...don't know why we are considered otherwise. Also we are NOT commanded to never judge, but to judge righteously. When those who exclude us from being "Christians", they are passing judgement upon us and claiming themselves superior to us all. That is not a judgement, but being observant. Some are more kind than others when they do so...but it is a "kiss me kick me" type of thing.
  13. Because, if you know the Gospel to be true and reject it, there is no second chance. Also, even if there were no God (which there is) living the commandments leads to true joy. Living a good life, no matter the commandment is always a good idea with favorable outcomes. Even tithing means your money is going to a good cause (as we give so much; not by choice to originations we don't agree with their polices) and "Fast Offerings",mew are helping the poor. Obeying the "Law of Chastity" always means being true to those we love, and setting proper examples to our children. Simply put, there is no reason I can think of not to being obedient to all commandments. Also do what is right and you cannot do wrong. :)
  14. I feel lke people's time would be better spent teaching what they believe instead of trying those of other faiths that they are wrong...just sayin.
  15. I often feel like I have a large target on my back. :)
  16. Just hope that one of meany who are seeking high office seeking for an endorsement. Each who are in the game...even worse thank last, I can stay focused
  17. I served as well and I am in awe of those in the BoM, but I do not believe in or feel I have the right to leave my wife without support or my children and grandchildren without husband, father and Papa when I could prevent a criminal from doing so. Maybe it is the Police in me that feels this way...I don't know. Maybe I would have the courage to do otherwise. But for the Lamanites, it was their friends a brother and not a criminal seeking to steal or kill.
  18. I remember when my youngest got his carry permit and gun. I would not allow him to carry it until he had fired 1,000 rounds and go through gun safety.
  19. A better question; are the rich any less entitled to the money they earn. Not to mention the rich create jobs.
  20. First of all the "wow" is for members, not,for anyone else, although a good idea.. It is not our place to expect others to live our standards. Also coffee and tea are not debatable for members. We either obey God's will given to us by Prophets or we don't. We will have to answer for how we choose. Thankfully there is no prohibition on bacon. :)
  21. I misread I thought you were speaking of weekly shooting in America...my apologies.
  22. That is simply untrue and an example of anti-America, which most,of Europe is. Also when such shootings does happen it is no registered gun owners. Wow...just wow.
  23. I am 57, soon to be 58 and have a broken back and walk with a cane. Being ex-Military and retired Police, I have many weapons to choose from, I have a conceal carry permit....but since I have my retirement badge, I just carry mine on my hip as I did when on the force. My sons ask why I don't conceal it and I tell them; why hide it? I either carry my S&W 9mm or one of the greatest guns ever made, my Walther PPK 380. A lot of people should not carry guns, because pausing in shooting to protect yourself or family can end up with being shot by your own gun. Guns are dangerous and should not be carried by those who just feel empowered or to feel like a man. You do not need to have a gun to be a man or to be taken seriously and if you think you do, then by all means you don't need to even own a gun.
