Pam, was the 2 hour thing just your ward? This is supposed to be a stake thing and I think we have a bunch of wards...not sure how many. Usually we do things with the 2 other wards in my city but this is going to be bigger than that, I think.

I was hoping this is something all primaries do every year and I just didn't know about it. (See previous threads about my complete and utter cluelessness) I was hoping everyone except myself would know all about this. I don't feel so alone anymore.

I don't know what I have to do and I don't know what kind of clothes they are supposed to wear. All I know is it's going to take place at a park in a small town about an hour from where I live and that I'm supposed to have my girls ready. I don't even know what that means. I got an email from the stake asking what I have done so far and I wrote back and told her I hadn't even heard about this before that email. She said to talk to my counselors. I have and the one counselor I have is as clueless as I am. It might be time to ask for a meeting with the stake presidency.

I just found out we are supposed to have a stake fashion show for the 8 to 11 year old girls. It's going to be an all day thing from 9am until 4pm and it's only about 6 weeks away. Any ideas? I have absolutely no idea what I'm supposed to do. Not having a clue is normal for me though but I'd still appreciate some input. Thanks

Anyone else here that thinks money can solve A LOT of problems ?

Money cannot buy happiness but it's awfully hard to be happy if you don't have any money. -
Maybe he's annoyed that you didn't go thru his secretary to set up the appointment.

Could YOU Live Polygamy During Your Lifetime?

Nobody, but generally men make more money per hour than do women and in families with more than one wife there are usually more children. -
Could YOU Live Polygamy During Your Lifetime?

Given these economic times, polyandry makes more sense. -
Football was always a family event at my house when I was a kid. Now, my kids and my sister all call me during the games to talk about an awesome pass or a flagrant foul or whatever. I live alone with my non-member husband so I'm not taking time away from him or anything. I wonder about exercise though. Is it okay to take off on a bicycle by myself or is it only okay if I have the grandkids with me? This came up because I ride my bike for exercise nearly every day except Sunday. It isn't just for exercise though. It also helps me settle my brain and it's where I do my best thinking. I have always taken Sunday off and miss the time alone I get on the bike. This past Sunday while taking a casserole to a family I passed our RS president and her family riding bikes down the street and it occurred to me that maybe it's okay. ???

This guy says he's upset because his daughter wasn't following his Mormon faith? Well he wasn't either. What a maroon.

I'm interested to know what normal activities are off limits on the Sabbath as part of keeping it holy. I know we shouldn't shop but what other things should we avoid?

This thread makes me wonder what people thought of me as far as being active/inactive goes. I worked shift work so I only had 2 Sundays out of 5 off. Then, I was on vacation, out of town, attending a different ward for about 6 Sundays each year. Then there were the outages I had to work where I didn't get a Sunday off for about 6 to 8 weeks at a time. These outages happened once or twice each year. Oh well, God knew what was going on all those years and what was in my heart.

FunkyTown, I really wish you would stop beating around the bush and let us know if you like trolls or not.

D&C 128:15 And now, my dearly beloved brethren and sisters, let me assure you that these are principles in relation to the dead and the living that cannot be lightly passed over, as pertaining to our salvation. For their salvation is necessary and essential to our salvation, as Paul says concerning the fathers—that they without us cannot be made perfect—neither can we without our dead be made perfect. Sounds like their work must be done but not all by you. There are other descendants who will also do the work for your ancestors. If your best is doing genealogy research for an hour every week or an hour every month then that is your best and you need not worry. Just mho.

Do you really think a bishop can't make a mistake? I mean, if you're looking for a reason to hate the church then go ahead and hate it for not putting convicted child molesters in positions of power over children.
-
The one that comes to mind is the pedophile. If someone had been convicted of such a crime it would be unconscionable to allow them to be a a calling that would allow them to be around children. It would put the children in danger of being hurt and it would put the pedophile in a position of temptation.
-
If having been disfellowshipped in the past kept us from getting callings there would be a lot more of us getting disfellowshipped. I said something to my last Bishop about having been disfellowshipped a long time ago and he seemed genuinely surprised. However, if there was something in someones past that made it dangerous for them to be around children then the Church has a legal obligation to make sure the children are protected.

Looks like hypertrichosis coincident with havenorazoritis.

If you were in the Celestial Room when you died and then you went to the Celestial Kingdom....how would you know you were dead?

I had some problems a long time ago that I really couldn't fix by myself. I prayed a lot but I also kept church music, especially primary songs, playing in my home and in my car. I also hung out with the missionaries as much as possible. I tried to stay in the presence of people who were strong where I was weak. It worked. One thing I didn't do that I wish I had done is I wish I had kept my name on the Temple prayer list. You can call the Temple and just give them a name. It's that easy.
