If you want to be constantly amazed at the way God does things, study physics.

I got the following from the lds.org site. The Blessing of Children Men who have the priesthood can bless babies, usually a few weeks after the babies are born. They must have the permission of the bishop or branch president to do this. The baby’s father can bless the baby if he has the Melchizedek Priesthood. If he does not have the Melchizedek Priesthood, he cannot bless the baby or be in the circle with men who bless the baby. He can ask someone who holds the Melchizedek Priesthood to bless the baby. The father, if he holds the Melchizedek Priesthood and is worthy, or another person who holds the Melchizedek Priesthood, holds the baby in his arms, assisted by others who must also hold the Melchizedek Priesthood, and says a prayer. In the prayer, he addresses our Father in Heaven, says he performs the ordinance by the authority of the Melchizedek Priesthood, and gives the baby a name that is chosen by the parents. He then blesses the baby as the Holy Ghost inspires him.

He was probably getting a group together to teach the CTR 5's. Threatening their eternal life would be his way of getting them to accept the calling.

The Mormans originated from Europe? (Not!)

Maybe he's been told of Nephi and his family coming to America from Jerusalem. -
My grandmother died when I was only 6 years old but I remember the warmth of her hugs and the wonderful way she smelled...it was a combination of lilac, vanilla and something even sweeter.. When I was 45 my dad died. I had my arms around him and as he drew his last breath I smelled lilac, vanilla and something even sweeter.

I can only make a judgment based on the members I've met, almost all who have been good, kind, giving folks. Most of the families in my ward are what I call 'blessing junkies'. They call the compassionate service lady before she has a chance to call them. They want to take food, provide rides, babysit kids, mow yards, weed gardens, etc. They have figured out the big secret; that the more you give the more you receive in blessings. However, a very few of the families in our ward are what I would call takers. They are almost never able to go work in the Bishop's Storehouse or take food to a family in need. They are too busy to babysit or give someone a ride to the doctor. But, they will complain if they go in the hospital for day surgery and only get food brought to them for 4 or 5 days. They feel bitterness and let it show if someone waits a little too long to come mow their yard or if they have to reschedule a doctor's appointment. I sometimes take breaks from helping the 'takers' because it's just to hard to deal with them. I always go back to help again as do the vast majority or our members. Perhaps the OP has let the bitterness show and everyone is taking a break at the same time.

We had the presidency and the pianist and the music director all standing at the front with our arms folded. I think it helped set the tone. Next time I'll ask a boy and girl to help us.

I like the reverence thermometer idea. We're going to have one that looks like a real thermometer for the big kids and one that looks like a flower growing out of a pot for the younger ones. BTW, they were a lot better yesterday. Maybe part of the problem last week was having a new presidency in there and they were testing us. This week I wanted to put them all in my pocket and bring them home with me.

The Prophet will issue a commandment that we are no longer allowed to call that green jello stuff a salad.

(((hugs))) and prayers during this time. I lost my Dad a few years ago and your post brought back all the sadness, joy and love. Wonderful Dads are an amazing thing.

The article says the next big doozy of a flare up will be in 2012. Isn't that when the Aztec calendar, or maybe it's the Incan calendar, says something bad is going to happen?

1 Timothy 2:13 - For Adam was first formed, then Eve. But don't all architects and engineers make a rough draft first and then the perfect version later?

Well, my newest calling is Primary President so I will use the wisdom I gained as RS President. That is to go to the Temple and ask for guidance often and to pray a bunch in between Temple trips. That's the big thing I learned. That God does not want me to fail and He will give me inspiration....all I have to do is ask and listen. I know that each generation is more choice than the one before and as a grandma I don't really feel worthy to be teaching them. But, I'm already feeling a little less overwhelmed and am starting to feel more love than fear for these little ones.

Thanks! I'll use all the suggestions given so far.

When my oldest was 3 and my twins were a few months old I got them all to take a nap at the same time. I thought it would be a good time for me to get a nap too. Big mistake! My oldest had seen me mop and wax the kitchen floor that morning so when he woke up first he decided to surprise me by making the bathroom floor all nice and shiny like the kitchen. He used a large jar of vaseline to accomplish his goal.

I have 2 chihuahuas and a schipperke. My son is not allergic to the chihuahuas but he is to every other animal on the planet.

I need to have a meeting with my teachers so they'll be more helpful. I also like the idea of starting out with some stretches and deep breathing. I think that would help them focus. I've always believed any kind of learning can and should be fun and I guess that's especially important in this age group. I really do want them to love coming to Primary. I'll be talking with my teachers about that too. Thanks.

My favorite place is teaching the teens, either as Sunday school teacher or in YW. I don't know about the best and the brightest thingy 'cause I think I got picked because my maturity level matches that of the Sunbeams

If I go with the duct tape I'll probably need to tie their little hands together behind their backs so they won't take the tape off......mmmmm yeah, that would go over really well. Maybe it would be better to have them stand during part of singing time and ask that sharing time include some kind of action.

I messed up already but the kids thought it was funny. If they laugh every time I make a mistake, they're going to have a fun year. I'm already amazed at how much they know. Even the Sunbeams are pretty savvy.
