Some men may have an issue with it, some won't. But the same is true outside the Church to a lesser degree. As an Adult convert myself I had a past sexual history and so did my convert wife (and not with each other). We were both single when we joined the Church, then met and got married after becoming members. The good news is that there are more Converts worldwide than there are lifetime members currently. I'd have more trouble with a bright red Mohawk than a past sexual history -- but thats me

A few elections back Paul Tsongas (now deceased) ran for President, he was going to make the massive cuts needed (or at least said he would) one of his slogans was "I'm not Santa Claus" meaning you can't keep giving and giving and make everyone happy. How did it work or for him? -- well I sure don't remember any 'President Tsongas" ever getting elected or even getting past the primaries. To quote a famous author "Once a nation learns they can vote themselves Bread and Circuses - that nation will fall" Its coming folks, I hope you've all got your years storage.

I understand why he's your EX. I would of handed him the iron and told him to have a blast. I'm not sure my wife even knows how to iron.

I have the ability to annoy people in just one single post.

Sorry, don't really care for it myself. The original is a better statement on what happened and why. Salvation has always been available, even without Joseph Smith and the restoration. (Exaltation may or may not be a different story).

Tell your Bishop to open the new Church Handbook of Instructions Book 1 - its there. Its never been called a "Temple Divorce" its a "Cancellation of Sealing" and will need to be done.

<<Shaking head>> Nothing personal here but Y'all really ought to try the 'real' world. It's statements like the above that make me so happy to never have lived in Utah and why we make jokes about 'Utah Mormons'.

A Few Questions
mnn727 replied to Neem1221's topic in Learn about The Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints
Everyone else is covering everything pretty well, but I wanted to touch base a bit more on this one: You don't have to serve a mission, in fact you shouldn't unless you want to, and you won't be allowed to for at least 1 year after Baptism -- so you have some time to learn what you're going to be teaching. -
Us ornery cusses need to unite 'Tradition' is never reason enough. My wife (girlfriend at the time) sat down and talked about the wedding/sealing in advance and wanted nothing other than what we wanted -- Parents wishes and tradition be danged. To us: just being a Temple sealing was enough, we didn't want anything to attempt to upstage it. We both made a Covenant with each other and with God that day -- that was special enough for us.

That is so disgusting, year old freezer burnt cake YUCK!Save the freezer room and take your spouse out to eat for a decent meal on your anniversary.

Our Marriage/Temple Sealing I planned in 1 afternoon (me, a male) Flowers? no, why would you need them? (luckily my wife feels the same way) Cake -- Sheet cake from a bakery Sodas/juices to make punch, little mints and some cans of nuts Reception - in the Cultural Hall with a couple of RS Ladies setting up. Disposable Camera's - great idea -- we did it. Professional Photograper who is experienced in Temple Weddings (got a couple business cards from the local LDS bookstore and interviewed via phone in advance, then made arrangemnts to meet. If it had not been for the photograper we would have spent under $100.00

Thats the thing, no we can't. If he was mentally unbalanced which many people believe he was, then he may not be accountable for his actions. The whole key here its up to God not us -- so leave judgement up to God and start doing what God has told us to do which is to forgive everyone and do Temple work.

The Lord has already instructed both the Prophets and us to do the work for everyone. The Lord has already instruucted us that He requires us to forgive everyone -- what more do you want?

How bad is it not to fast on fast Sunday?
mnn727 replied to prophetofdoom's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
Fast offerings go to pay for people that are less fortunate than you. It has nothing to do with YOUR fasting, it has everything to do with helping Brothers and Sisters in my own ward and stake and in the Church as a whole. To think its hypocritical to pay it if you don't fast is absurd. -
So its impossible for Hitler to ever repent even if it takes billions of years? and Jesus has no power to help him? Is that what you are trying to say? I'm certainly no Hitler fan, but I also certainly don't know his mind or his heart, but I certainly believe there has to be something wrong with someone like that - heck even some of his closest Generals thought he was nuts and tried to assinate him. I'm not able to judge Hitler, I have enough to do with judging my own life finding myself always coming up short, to worry about Hitler and others like him.

Not if you know how names are submitted.
-
Whats your intention? are you buyinmg it so you can show off? or are you buying it because its better quality and will presumably last longer?
-
Can you name one person Jesus is powerless to save? Having said that it was not sanctioned by the Church and may have been submitted by a non-Mormon.

How bad is it not to fast on fast Sunday?

I don't think its bad at all -- fasting is supposed to be purposful and many times I don't have a reason to. My wife is an insulin dependant diabetic and she never fast's. It took her too long to get her blood sugar numbers in line - one day of messing up her eating schedule can mess them up for a week. We always pay a fast offering. -
I'm Comin' Back to Church. You have Been Warned.
mnn727 replied to unixknight's topic in General Discussion
#1 remember you are seeing these other members for 3 hours on a Sunday when they are at their best. #2 who says you can't wear short sleeves and colors, we have a former Bishop (who was honorabley released after serving 5+ years) now teaching SS that never - ever wears long sleeves or white shirts. I never wear long sleeves - ever! anywhere (except the Temple and I have to rent those) I do wear a suit coat and tie, but I had to wear ties at work for 25 years so no biggie to me. #3 I have played D&D in the past (for about 15 years) and only quit because everyone in our group moved cross country and I havn't found any here that are decent to play with. I do play WoW but it does take a lot of time away from my family so I limit myself to x hours a month. What I'm trying to say is if you love the Gospel, then come on back, thats what its all about - not white shirts and RM's -
Prophets & Healing
mnn727 replied to Bini's topic in Learn about The Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints
Those are the key words of your entire post.Just becasue we want to keep a loved one alive doesn't mean its the best thing for the person in the eternal scheme of things. And as Beefche said, Elders have the same Priesthood Authority as the Prophet. If God wants it done He can work through me, and other Elders. -
Its just one more way God or nature has of making sure the weak don't breed. ie survival of the fittest. It improves the breed. Not trying to be callous, just stating fact.

I'm in my mid-50's and an Elder and just requested (and was approved by the Bishop) to start meeting with the HP --I have much more in common with the geezers than with the young guys in EQ.

Having sat on disiplinary councils I am telling the truth here. Say what you want, but Sex outside of marriage is a serious sin. Listen to an general conference and you'll hear that a number of times. It's much more disrespectful say "the Church does not excommunicate someone for having a child out of wedlock." when they can and very very often do. I assumed this person came here looking for truth - I gave it.
