Does baptism of the dead include baptism for those people who we, at the moment, consider to have been evil, as in Hitler, Stalin etc...as I have recently read that Baptism by proxy did take place for Hitler...

I don't see why women should be submissive/obedient to anybody...in personal relationships all should be treated equally...in the workplace too, women should be treated equally to their male counterparts, although I believe this does not regularly happen...they should have just as much right to hold positions of higher authority as males...this does not mean that they wish to be males, as biologically we are who we are, but we do not wish to be treated as 2nd class citizens or anybody's servants because of our biological differences. I think religion has a lot to answer for in it's treatment of women...holding positions of authority etc. they work as an hierarchy and women are at the bottom...servants, or at the most in the middle...teaching younger children, or just teaching girls? Have I got that correct? Sorry I might be making some assumptions...

Well said Winnie...I agree with you entirely...I wish the British Government would keep some of it's promises to the less wealthy residents of the UK and do what you're suggesting!!
-
Welcome back Cal...I've been wondering where you were...Can you explain about your comment...I don't read the BoM so don't understand your statement :)

Hmmm...I'm trying to reason with what Traveler was first saying...about allowing our children to see 'Adult' material...I believe most media, dvds, cds, videos and some books? and movies at the cinema is covered by a censor which guides adults as to whether or not it is suitable for a child/teenager of a certain age. Of course it would be very difficult to make it 'against the law' to allow your child to see any of this unsuitable material in their home or anywhere else...how could it be policed, unless you are suggesting the Big Brother scenario should be brought in. It is the responsibility of the parents to try to ensure their child is not exposed to unsuitable material, however in the real world the children are exposed, and as another member suggested, if they are exposed to it, they should be taught the rights and wrongs of whatever they witness...and how to act responsibly, so that they don't turn into pyschotic killers or sexual deviants...if that is what you are suggesting happens to all children/teens who see material of an adult nature? Is that what you were suggesting?

Nice to see you getting involved in this issue...I'm in the UK otherwise I would have downloaded that petition and passed it around...Good luck with the campaign!!!

Thank you Jason..I would love to learn more about it from you...sometimes sifting through websites to find the one with all the answers is so difficult...PM me if you wanna start teaching me a little about it please..!

Ex-Mormon Jason...that debate about the RCC and Eastern Orthodoxy would be interesting, I'm sure...but you know what? I went through 14 years of schooling in my RCC school and didn't feel that I fully knew what my religion was all about...which is why I investigated Mormonism at the time...I still don't feel that I know enough about it, and so I am just investigating it and other religions out of interest...I have no intention of joining one religion or another these days..:)

Thank goodness you've joined this debate Ex=Mormon Jason!! I was going to suggest that you knew the true facts regarding the origins of the Roman Catholic Church...I've been following your other thread about it, and Eastern Orthodoxy which is very interesting...I was raised RC but haven't practised for years...I find the things you say about the Eastern Orthodox Church interesting and will try to read up about it some more. As for poor Chicago Guy...I know where he's coming from too...although I started to look at whether or not the Church was true (LDS) church when I was considering returning to it...it was then that I discovered site upon site discrediting the Joseph Smith story and other things within the Church too...I must say that even members of the church have posted on here about how some items could be discredited... Outshined, thank you for supplying the many links you have posted here...I will take a look at those further, but I must say that I am pretty sure in my mind that the LDS church was built on dishonesty. I agree that it has many good people within it, who believe that they are members of the one true church...that is fine...I will not try to convert them to any other beliefs. I have to say that I am not worried if it is found that all religions are true...why should that cause any problems? Like you said, if everyone lives according to their own faith, and doesn't kill or hurt anybody as a result of this...then why should God treat them any different from others doing so...they can all be saved!! As a final note...I don't happen to believe in 3 degrees of heaven, so believing in 1 true church wouldn't be an issue as to which level of heaven you would reach. Also...why don't you agree with the amount of DNA being shared by man and chimpanzees? 98% or so isn't it?

So can you relay 'acceptable' messages to/from him now Jennifer? So, So sad that he's gone...
-
Thank you Winnie, that was a wonderful story with a good lesson to be learned.
-
A lovely verse...and an interesting theory too...are we taught that these sort of things are sent to test our faith? that we can endure extra hardships and not lose faith in God?
-
LOL Sgallan...thanks for filling me in with some extra details...I can understand the stance you are taking, assuming you would be a gay LDS for instance, it's sad that they would be made to feel that way because of the doctrines they believe in.As I too do not 'hold' with the LDS theories re heaven and hell, then I have no argument to make with your hypothetical question...
-
Cute Pix Faerie! Hope you had a great day!!
-
LOL sgallan, took me a little while to figure out your meaning/message...but I do think I know what you mean now...if you are so sure that there is an everlasting world to come after this one, and you are not likely to be sent to Spirit Prison or Hell...according to whichever religion you follow, then you would not be afraid to look death in the face and take the consequences...perhaps someone might argue that, for the sake of the ones you would be leaving behind, for whom you might have some responsibility, you ought to take care not to reach that eternity before your natural time comes, or this could be taken as committing a sin? of being irresponsible? lol, it isn't my way of thinking, but do any of the religious folk you know think that way?
-
Sgallan, I love your point of view, and I love the way you express it. I wish you and your family the very best of life after your wife has completed her rehab...you all deserve it! Good luck and best wishes to you all. :)
-
My heart goes out to you and your family, Winnie...nobody should have to undergo the sort of abuse and humiliation that your son endured...
-
A wonderful piece...wonder what dyslexics would make of this research?
-
Well Jenda...me and the ex don't often speak to each other, as when we do we tend to argue!! LOL... He doesn't have a very good memory either, but something tells me that this might have been a Peter Davidson episode, or perhaps the Dr.Who special The 5 Doctors...something like that, as there were many puzzles or similar to resolve in that... If we ever speak again I will ask if he can recall it...or maybe I might search a Dr.Who forum where somebody else can say if my memory is serving me well, or betraying me!! LOL
-
Thank you for settling that little puzzle Setheus...I do believe it was the same question that was asked in that Dr.Who episode I saw many, many years ago!! (my ex husband was a mad D.Who fan so I've seen a whole lot of them!!!)
-
Well said Estump and Amillia...now I wonder if Cal and DisRuptive1 are willing to compromise a little on their definitions in order to resolve this endless circle of arguments, or whether they are as stubborn as mules

Hi again Ray...It looks as if I overlooked replying to this post...maybe I was very tired when I read it and meant to reply later, then forgot!!Anyway, as I said in a post on another thread, I do believe in repenting as well as saying sorry for something that you do wrong, once you know that it is wrong, and that you must try never to do it again. However, I would like to add that I do tend to go on 'gut' feelings, so if something feels as if it might be wrong then I would tend to not do it...
