Wouldn't a Jeanie-God be more like a Lucifer-God? After all Lucifer only started doing the mean and nasty stuff after the rebellion when his 'force em all to Heaven' idea was rejected. I must admit there are times when I would like a Jeanie-God but then I realise it wouldn't have been for my ultimate benefit and the only way I can grow is a bit at a time. A forced plant is never as strong and healthy as one grown naturally and slowly.

Girls: Could you marry a guy like this?
WillowTheWhisp replied to Maxel's topic in Young Single Adults, College and Institute
I would like to encourage your friend by saying that nothing is impossible but he must take care of himself and take medically approved medication if that is what he needs. I am diabetic and also have glaucoma. I need to take medication for both for the rest of my life. There is no hame in having to rely on medical help. A word of warning though. Love may be blind but it cannot conquer everything and one of the main causes of marital problems is financial. That doesn't mean that he should not marry bu the future wife would have to understand how rocky the road could be when it comes to money. -
I remember them. They were revolutionary. I had a shiny black one, slightly smaller than the one in the pictuire. I think it may still be around in a cupboard somewhere and yes it did drag your jeans down on the side where you clipped it to the waistband.

So are you saying that you did not join the church because you had a testimony of the truthfulness of the restored Gospel? Or are you saing that the failings of men outweigh the truthfulness of the restored Gospel?

OK, THIS(click here) is just really weird. A pink elephant in a part hat.

My extended family won't come to my temple wedding.
WillowTheWhisp replied to annamaureen's topic in Advice Board
When I married my first husband our legal wedding ceremony took place in the LDS chapel which is hiow it has to be here in the UK because temple ceremonies are not regarded as legal marriages here. At the time our temple was closed for 2 weeks and we were married in the middle of those two weeks so we were not able to be sealed until a week later which was a bit odd because I felt 'half married' for a week. Although family and friends attended the church wedding no-one came with us to the temple. We were just pointed in the right direction and off we went. We didn't even know the names of the two people who acted as our witneses for the sealing. The sealing ceremony itself was very short and I would say that any non member not witnessing it didn't miss much. That is how I would explion it to anyone who grumbles about not being 'allowed in'. Of course it meant the world to my husband and myself but for our guests who had been at the church ceremony that was the be all and end all to them. It was followed by a meal and a party. Anyone with the dilemma of not being able to invite non-member family to the temple I would just explain to them that it's a very short and personal moment just between the two of you and God and that any other celebration you have - ring ceremony or church ceremony or civil ceremony is the bit for everyone else to join in and celebrate with you. I have been invited to weddings where I've only had the invite for the "night do" as opposed to the meal following the wedding and I haven't refused to go because I wasn't included in the rest of it. I've been invited to some where I have only been invited to the church service and not to any of the reception. I've still gone. I hope your family will understand this is about you and not about them. It's YOUR big day and it's you two who matter here. I hope I've managed to explain that OK. I know what I mean in my head but it doesn't always come out right. -
I think it's a great place to discuss them because you get a far wider range of opinions than you would in a real life group scenario. If a church leader told me to kill someone I would not do so. I would discuss it with other leaders. I think that's one reason why we have 3 members in a presidency. If one of them goes cuckoo the other two would notice.

I've never found them uncomfortable. In fact before I was endowed I always found bras uncomfortable but when I discovered I could wear my bra over the top of my garments I have been comfortable ever since. I've never had problems with the elastic waistband digging in either. In fact the nylon mesh waistband seems very gentle and comfortable. I have tried different materials but prefer the nylon mesh.

That's what I was always taught too Seanette but a lot of what I thought I knew was brought into doubt during this lesson.

This is an interesting thread for me at the moment. We had a lesson on the subject by a member of our Stake Presidency a couple of weeks ago and he stated that a fast should last a minimum of 24 hours without food or drink. Our WML pointed out that is not what the missionaries teach and was told that they are wrong. He also said that fasting is good for the body physically as well as for the soul and when I pointed out that it is not good for some people such as diabetics he said I was sitting on the fence. Then he went onto the point about not drinking and I thought he would bring up exceptions, especially when he said that he takes ongoing medication of 2 tablets every evening and 5 every morning. I asked if he allowed himself a sip of water to swallow the tablets and he said no. I was amazed that he could swallow them without a drink but my amazement turned to shock when he said that he simply doesn't take them on Fast Sundays. Surely that is not Church doctrine? As a diabetic I do not fast but I still pay a fast offering. I do not have enough faith to go without food never mind going without my medication too. Maybe I shouldn't pay fat offering if I do not fast. I brought up the subject for discussion with some people online and when one of our Ward members agreed with me she was told off by our Bishop. This whole thing has now left me wondering if perhaps I should have faith to miss out my meds and to fast despite doctor's advice. I know that President Monson is diabetic and would love to know if he fasts or takes his medication on Fast Sundays.

In pengin society isn't it usually the male which looks after the egg and chick anyway?

The Bible doesn't state that God never was a man. It doesn't say anything at all on the subject of God's origins.

But surely what he did is still forbidden?????? My own personal understanding of the priesthood not being given to certain races during a period of time might have more to do with the ability of other races to accept it than with the worthyness of those races who were denied it for a while.

Why Was The Laugh Option Removed?
WillowTheWhisp replied to Still_Small_Voice's topic in General Discussion
I think the option exists in some sections but not in others. -

I find it quite unnerving when I have believed someone online and it turns out they have invented a whole fake persona. Not long ago someone I know and have as a friend on Facebook changed her name on there. Now this is not like a screenname on a forum. We are talking about real life name here. I thought she had maybe changed her real name by deed poll or reverted back to a previous name but then I noticed she was spelling her first name differently too. Then when I wanted to wish her happy birthday she told me she had put a false birthate on there. In fact she had totally recreated herself for Facebook - why would someone do that when your real life friends know you and know it isn't true? It just seemed so weird.

I knowabout PPIs. In our Ward they tend to take place at Church but I didn't associate it with a PPI as this seemed to involve the whole family not just an interview with the priesthood holder. On the subject of Home Teachers. I've never really had any on a regularbasis in over 25 years. At present only the inactive member of our Ward get visits (HT or VT). There are times I could really do with Home Teachers as we have no priesthood in our home. There have been a couple of times one or other of us could have appreciated a blessing but we have had to wait until we could get to Church.

Hi and welcome. I'm also in the UK. :)

Ah but there you open another minefield. Ulster geographically and historically covers more than the counties in the Province of Northern Ireland. Even the term "Northern Ireland" is a misnomer as the northern most county of Ireland (Donegal) which is part of Ulster is also part of the Irish Republic and not part of the UK. Some people from the Province would not accept the name "Ulsterman" or even "Ulsterwoman";) as it would have more meaning to them than simply denoting where they live. It implies a political alleigance which they might not embrace.

I've never known that happen, apart from visiting less active members. Isn't it the Home Teachers who assess people' needs etc?

A friend of ours recenly died forma teminl illness and a few days before that she was visited several times by her deceased daughter which reassured her about where she was going.

The UK is actually "The United Kindom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland" - now some people from Northern Ireland dont mind being called British but some certainly do, and some (like my cousin's friends) object to being called Irish! So it is a bit of a minefield. For the rest of us in Scotland, England and Wales we are British but some Welsh and Scots are more keen on their Celtic lineage than being lumped togther with us English!

There is a third answer which I believe would make more sense to Jim and which describes LDS beliefs and that is simply that Jesus is not God the Father but along with God the Father and the Holy Ghost forms the Godhead. Saying that in LDS beliefs Jesus is God only serves to confuse people IMO.
