Yes. Officially, these groups who demand everybody be tolerant to them are condemning these acts of terrorism and vandalism. And it is possible that these crimes are not being done by members of these groups. But a logical person has to at least keep in their mind that these things may be related. It is also possible that certain individuals who already disliked the LDS Church may have tried to seize the opportunity to commit crimes, thinking that it would be looked upon favorably by those who are demonstrating against us peacefully.

Now they are going to send postcards to President Monson. I wonder if they will even make a dent in the amount of mail he receives? I mean, with all the letters he gets from members of the Church and goof-offs and antis anyway, what would a few thousand postcards matter? I'm glad to see that at least our good people down at the post office are getting a positive out of this.

Those protestors who traveled long distances to protest at Salt Lake were disappointed to go all that way only to be forced to go to the back of the line behind the many protestors already on the square.

Romes go wild here ... is it true that Temples of SL and LA have been evaquated and that several church buildings have been made dirty or graffited by these people who stand for tolerance?

No the temples have not been evacuated. More LDS Priesthood holders were called in to help security at the LA Temple. The work goes on.

Demonstrations have been held outside the temple in New York City.

A few days ago envelops with white powder were mailed to the SLC Temple and the LA Temple. No one was evacuated from the Temple but those there were not allowed to leave until the level of threat was determined. (I can't think of a better place to spend time than in the temple anyway.)

These acts are being treated as domestic terrorism here in Utah.

"Truth stirs opposition. We are continually being tired and tested as individuals and as a church. There are more trials yet to come, but be not discouraged nor dismayed. Always remember that if this were no the Lord's work, the adversary would not pay any attention to us. If this Church were merely a church of men and women, teaching only the doctrines of men, we would encounter little or not criticism or resistence -- But because this is the Church of him whose name it bears, we must not be surprised when criticisms or difficulties arise. With faith and good works, the truth will prevail. This is his work. There is none other like it. Let us, therefore, press forward, lengthening our stride and rejoicing in our blessings and opportunities."

"Do not falter nor be distressed when others misrepresent us, sometimes deliberately and sometimes in ignorance. this has been the lot of the Lord's people from the beginning, and it will be no different in our time.'

Here is an interesting article I read today on Slate. For those of you that aren't familiar with Slate, they are a relatively liberal (though not extreme) mostly political online magazine. They have an "Explainer" column that addresses issues in the news, and today they tackled the gay-Mormon conundrum. Pretty accurate, and fairly written.

Can you be a gay Mormon? - By Nina Shen Rastogi - Slate Magazine

No, sorry. I know that sounds harsh. What I mean is, the church will let gays come to church and attend etc...as long as they don't actually do anything gay. They accept gays as long as they aren't gay.

They can come to church and attend even if they are committing sodomy. They just can't be baptized, say prayers, take the sacrament, or hold any callings, but they can show up any Sunday they want.

Not true Jap...those that are gay are held to the same standards as those that are heterosexual. This has been explained probably a hundred times in the last couple of months. As Kris said...fornication is fornication whether it be a heterosexual or whether it be by someone that is gay. People can be "gay" without committing fornication.

What everyone is tryiong to say:

ANYBODY can attend the church, just usual behaviour is aquired. To take sakrament, hold the prayer or a speach or a church calling or priesthood you also need to: Not to have sex with anyone except your spouse which is of opposite sex. No premarriage sex, no sex with children, no sex with same sex, no porno, no sex.... with anyone but the spouse. Wedding dont need to be in Temple, stil you are not allowed to cheet.

It is a simple take it or leave it situation for everybody! After rependance you can get back your rights after it seems that you have changed.

I missed the last few months sorry. If gays could marry then it wouldn't be fornication.

And God has said man shall not lie with man and women shall not lie with women. Even if the government passed laws allowing gay-marriage it would still be fornication because the Lord has declared sodomy a sin, period.

If the government passed laws allowing adult men to have sex with "consenting" 9 year-old girls, would you think it was perfectly fine then?

I agree, Kristoffer. In fact, I think we should take this one step further and make it illegal to divorce as per Mark 10:

Mark 10

2 Some Pharisees came and tested him by asking, "Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife?"

3 "What did Moses command you?" he replied.

4 They said, "Moses permitted a man to write a certificate of divorce and send her away."

5 "It was because your hearts were hard that Moses wrote you this law," Jesus replied.

6 "But at the beginning of creation God `made them male and female.'

7 `For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife,

8 and the two will become one flesh.' So they are no longer two, but one.

9 Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate."

10 When they were in the house again, the disciples asked Jesus about this.

11 He answered, "Anyone who divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery against her.

12 And if she divorces her husband and marries another man, she commits adultery."

Since Adultery is also fornication, we must logically extend this to prevent all divorce.

I can't see any logic being applied here. lol

Anyway, go for it. Get gay married, then get divorce banned, then you can be happy.
