annewandering Posted December 2, 2008 Report Posted December 2, 2008 it was a great talk. i remember thinking he was looking well also. Quote
MarginOfError Posted December 2, 2008 Report Posted December 2, 2008 NOOOO...how can he do this to me? He was the only person in my line of authority who didn't serve as President of the Church (with the exception of my father). I was counting on him to make it to the top! He was a neat character. But, as sad as his passing is, I'm sure he's happy to meet up with some old friends. Farewell Elder Wirthlin. Quote

checkerboy Posted December 2, 2008 Report Posted December 2, 2008 Wow... I was just thinking of him last night too. I was listening to a talk from Pres. Monson and he was talking about all the apostles he had served with and I thought I wonder when Elder Wirthlin will be leaving us. How sad. I loved his talks because he was so dang funny and yet had such a great spirit of charity about him. You could just feel his love when he spoke. Quote
Jenamarie Posted December 2, 2008 Report Posted December 2, 2008 I just gave the Teaching for our Times lesson in our ward last month on his "Come what may... and love it!" talk. SUCH a great talk for these difficult times. I'm not usually one to just read a lesson straight from the manual (or magazine, as the case may be) but man, I just couldn't edit this one down! His talks were always so great! He will be missed. Quote

Hemidakota Posted December 2, 2008 Report Posted December 2, 2008 I don't know if that would be wise or even mentioning some of those moments by others who would ask, when is he moving on? He will be missed... Quote
StrawberryFields Posted December 2, 2008 Report Posted December 2, 2008 He has touched many people with his words. I hope when I go I will have made a difference in at least a few lives for good. Quote

MarginOfError Posted December 2, 2008 Report Posted December 2, 2008 Who's your father? My father is the only person in my line of authority who wasn't an Apostle. That was helpful wasn't it!(I guess it's safe to say that you probably haven't heard of my father). Quote
Hemidakota Posted December 2, 2008 Report Posted December 2, 2008 Question is now, whom the Lord chooses to replace him from the 1st Quorum of Seventies. :) Quote
checkerboy Posted December 2, 2008 Report Posted December 2, 2008 Question is now, whom the Lord chooses to replace him from the 1st Quorum of Seventies. :) Who says it has to be from the Seventies? I believe that Elder Bednar wasn't a Seventy when he was called. Quote

Moksha Posted December 2, 2008 Report Posted December 2, 2008 Wasn't it nice that he lived to be 91? I liked Elder Wirthlin. Quote
Superbaldguy Posted December 3, 2008 Report Posted December 3, 2008 Just stumbled on this news, an ES is supposed to know everything=) Sad news, as always, but Elder Wirthlin was a valiant servant and Apostle. One of the greatest assets of the Church is we never forget such great people since there is much written by them and are constantly being quoted. Let the speculation begin on who will be called to the Twelve.......... Quote
TeancumsSword Posted December 3, 2008 Report Posted December 3, 2008 Who says it has to be from the Seventies? I believe that Elder Bednar wasn't a Seventy when he was called.Howard W. Hunter was a Stake President in California when he was put into the Q12 Quote
TeancumsSword Posted December 3, 2008 Report Posted December 3, 2008 I just hope it's a real foreigner this time... Claudio RM Costa, or one of the Asian guys Quote
checkerboy Posted December 3, 2008 Report Posted December 3, 2008 I was always hoping Elder Helvacio Martins would be called. But alas, he died in 2006. Quote
