I'm just a newbie here, so bear with me... but is there really a need for this type of posts? This type of one-upmanship is disheartening for me who thought this was a forum that, at least, maintains Christian, if not LDS values of humility and fellowship.

Maybe, we can all try to check our emotions, and when the heart starts to pitter-patter from... indignation, hurt pride, whatever... then press reply and furiously type in the... rebuttal, name-calling, one-upmanship, whatever... read through it one more time just to get it out of your system, then press the "Back" button to effectively erase the post.

Just wanting to improve my experience here, is all...

I apologize, Ana. You certainly shouldn't be forced to get involved in these things. I'd recommend going and reading any post that has Snow's name attached to it. I'm certainly not involving myself in any one-upmanship. I don't even bother reading his posts any more.

I'm certain if you search for his name, you will find that every single thread - Without fail - Will include him picking fights with people online. I'd suggest simply giving this thread a miss. I've learned to just pop in once in a while on threads that he's on, assume he's picking a fight, and remind people he does that all the time and not to take it personal. He's just trolling.

... and that would be completely wrong - not that I would expect you to know, but I respond very well to a superior argument and a sizable portion of what I understand of Church history and the gospel was learned right here at this message board from people that had superior understandings compared to mine and who, by virtue of their knowledge and wisdom, caused me to rethink my positions and improve my understanding.

As you can imagine, however, I (anyone) cannot be persuaded by logic so faulty as... since you found a definition or a word in one dictionary, therefore other definitions in other dictionaries must be in error.

Not to worry - I don't feel singled out, nor is my pride hurt. However, you may find find the majority of my posts to be laced with humility or long-suffering towards posters that are either dishonest or illogical or dogmatic, nor should you expect that I will follow you instructions to delete my posts.

That is incorrect. Apostles are commissioned by God and sustained as "prophets, seers, and revelators."

I was not using today's criteria as much as I was using Pre-incarnation or should I say Church era.

God Spoke to Paul and sent him Himself for this work.

I was using that as a designation to say that.

I know that he was never set apart as a "prophet" by the Church (as far as I know, we are not told everything).

Yet neither were most of the Old Testament prophets.

Usually as far as I can remember, most men who had a personal visitation by God and sent on a mission were referred to as a prophet weather set apart in the office of a prophet or not.

Yet I cannot find where any man with that office ever set him apart to that office.

Acts 13:1 Now there were in the church that was at Antioch

certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was

called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been

brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.

I will settle as referring to him as an Apostle, personally sent by God to the Gentiles.

You'd be surprised. I've been of this board and it's predecessor for something like 8 or 9 years. Many of my posts engender lots of passion, both pro and con. I can't claim any special talent of perspective but lots of people follow my posts and appreciate the challenge.

This board is pretty tame much of the times but I have had some of the most intense and educational times of my life - arguing back and forth on what makes sense. I've gotten so much out of the process... I just trying to give back a little

You know Rudick, GOD does still speak today to HIS children [considered the Morning Stars], with personal visitation. Now, does that constitute them as prophets also? Even though, it is only a few of them, but unknown to the church [media attention] and its membership.

I'm trying to understand the different personalities at play here:

1.) Snow - logical thinker, outspoken (or is, outwritten, hah!), will argue with or without tact, and will not take crap from anybody.

2.) FunkyTown - doesn't like snow. doesn't like tactless arguments. passive agressive, I think.

3.) HemiDakota - close to a scripture expert, expresses predictions of the future, gets visits from... not quite sure who, Heavenly Father?

4.) Bro Rudick - sounds like he's a scriptorian. Lots of knowledge about the gospel.

5.) applepansy and Connie - generally nice guy/gal and just wants everybody to get along

6.) Anatess - Filipino living in Florida, english only a tertiary language, having a hard time applying her communication methods (including those learned in debate class) and her assertiveness training in an internet forum. I think it's because the rules are completely different in an anonymous forum, or that there are no rules of etiquette here. But, I'm learning fast and will soon get used to this.

So, carry on... I'm actually beginning to see the "nuggets of wisdom" in these threads...

I have to correct your misconception. Thank you for suggesting I'm generally nice however. I usually put my foot in my mouth and offend people.

We never agree 100% of the time. People do not get along and I certainly do not expect them to. Getting along in an online forum makes for very boring threads. :)

I would like deliberate baiting, condesencion and disrespect to be left out of threads so that constructive discussion and debate can continue. I would like to see good communication skills used.

Deliberate disrepect spoils the fun.
