Guest Posted April 29, 2009 Report Posted April 29, 2009 But of course we both know that is untrue. You quoted me in a post (Post 82 on this thread) less than 24 hours before your last post about me. Did you stop reading me in the past 5 minutes?Just an hour ago you went out of your way to talk about me. Looks like you are obsessed. I hope you don't turn out to be another stalker.I'm just a newbie here, so bear with me... but is there really a need for this type of posts? This type of one-upmanship is disheartening for me who thought this was a forum that, at least, maintains Christian, if not LDS values of humility and fellowship.Sorry, Snow, I'm not singling you out. It was just the last post in the thread before I hit reply that had this prideful type of response. There are several of them all over this thread.Maybe, we can all try to check our emotions, and when the heart starts to pitter-patter from... indignation, hurt pride, whatever... then press reply and furiously type in the... rebuttal, name-calling, one-upmanship, whatever... read through it one more time just to get it out of your system, then press the "Back" button to effectively erase the post.Just wanting to improve my experience here, is all...

You certainly shouldn't be forced to get involved in these things. I'd recommend going and reading any post that has Snow's name attached to it. I'm certainly not involving myself in any one-upmanship. I don't even bother reading his posts any more.I'm certain if you search for his name, you will find that every single thread - Without fail - Will include him picking fights with people online. I'd suggest simply giving this thread a miss. I've learned to just pop in once in a while on threads that he's on, assume he's picking a fight, and remind people he does that all the time and not to take it personal. He's just trolling.Hope you have a great day!
applepansy Posted April 29, 2009 Report Posted April 29, 2009 ... and that would be completely wrong - not that I would expect you to know, but I respond very well to a superior argument and a sizable portion of what I understand of Church history and the gospel was learned right here at this message board from people that had superior understandings compared to mine and who, by virtue of their knowledge and wisdom, caused me to rethink my positions and improve my understanding. As you can imagine, however, I (anyone) cannot be persuaded by logic so faulty as... since you found a definition or a word in one dictionary, therefore other definitions in other dictionaries must be in error.BTW... it is with mild amusement that I see you and Funkytown and Connie falling all over yourselves trying to agree with each other and give thanks to one another in your mutual disparagement of me. More power to you.Your attitude seems very "superior"... I don't see humility in your posts. I also don't feel "uplifted" when I read your posts. Unrighteous judgement and pride are not helpful when discussing the gospel.

applepansy Posted April 29, 2009 Report Posted April 29, 2009 Of course - if you can find any erroneous judgements or factual mistakes in my posts - I will gladly correct them, but you should understand by now that my posts may not have been meant to uplift you applepansy. That's obvious. Hemidakota Posted April 29, 2009 Report Posted April 29, 2009 James was next in session but Paul was sent.Happens sometimes.Bro. RudickNot unusual since the church does it today. However, this stills does not dismiss Paul as a prophet as I stated.
Hemidakota Posted April 29, 2009 Report Posted April 29, 2009 That is incorrect. Apostles are commissioned by God and sustained as "prophets, seers, and revelators."LDS.org - Ensign Article - Prophets, Seers, and RevelatorsSnow, I am fully aware of it. It was the statement used by President Lee that requires some further critical thinking.
Connie Posted April 29, 2009 Report Posted April 29, 2009 She is not incorrect. I am often condescending with certain types of posters... usually it is with those that are arrogant - and factually mistaken, or dogmatic and irrational, or whiny, etc.Not to worry - I don't feel singled out, nor is my pride hurt. However, you may find find the majority of my posts to be laced with humility or long-suffering towards posters that are either dishonest or illogical or dogmatic, nor should you expect that I will follow you instructions to delete my posts.Really amazing how you can be condescending, humble and long-suffering all in one post. Funny how you never see that trio grouped together in the scriptures.
JohnnyRudick Posted April 29, 2009 Report Posted April 29, 2009 (edited) Not unusual since the church does it today. However, this stills does not dismiss Paul as a prophet as I stated.OK.Thanks:)I was not using today's criteria as much as I was using Pre-incarnation or should I say Church era.God Spoke to Paul and sent him Himself for this work.I was using that as a designation to say that.I know that he was never set apart as a "prophet" by the Church (as far as I know, we are not told everything).Yet neither were most of the Old Testament prophets.Usually as far as I can remember, most men who had a personal visitation by God and sent on a mission were referred to as a prophet weather set apart in the office of a prophet or not.Yet I cannot find where any man with that office ever set him apart to that office.Acts 13:1 Now there were in the church that was at Antiochcertain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that wascalled Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had beenbrought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.I will settle as referring to him as an Apostle, personally sent by God to the Gentiles.Bro. Rudick Edited April 30, 2009 by JohnnyRudick After thought re-work grammer;-)
Snow Posted April 30, 2009 Author Report Posted April 30, 2009 That's obvious. I know others aren't "uplifted" by your posts either. Who is your target audience? You'd be surprised. I've been of this board and it's predecessor for something like 8 or 9 years. Many of my posts engender lots of passion, both pro and con. I can't claim any special talent of perspective but lots of people follow my posts and appreciate the challenge.
Snow Posted April 30, 2009 Author Report Posted April 30, 2009 Snow, I am fully aware of it. It was the statement used by President Lee that requires some further critical thinking.Sorry - I missed the point.
Snow Posted April 30, 2009 Author Report Posted April 30, 2009 Really amazing how you can be condescending, humble and long-suffering all in one post. Funny how you never see that trio grouped together in the scriptures. My mistake - a typo. I meant that you may NOT find my posts laced with humility...
Moksha Posted April 30, 2009 Report Posted April 30, 2009 I don't see humility in [snow's] posts. I wonder if that may be from so many people trying to force his back up against the wall?
Connie Posted April 30, 2009 Report Posted April 30, 2009 My mistake - a typo. I meant that you may NOT find my posts laced with humility...Ahh, there you go, that's more in keeping with the Snow we are all familiar with.
bmy- Posted April 30, 2009 Report Posted April 30, 2009 Of course - if you can find any erroneous judgements or factual mistakes in my posts - I will gladly correct them, but you should understand by now that my posts may not have been meant to uplift you applepansy.Nor should they be uplifting. This is a forum.. we're all here to discuss as far as i'm aware. We don't need a back-patting session.. we need to be challenged. Unfortunately.. this is one of the few places I can express my opinion without getting that 'heretic' or 'apostate' label, I thinks It's how we grow.

Unfortunately.. this is one of the few places I can express my opinion without getting that 'heretic' or 'apostate' label, I thinks It's how we grow.My thoughts exactly. This board is pretty tame much of the times but I have had some of the most intense and educational times of my life - arguing back and forth on what makes sense. I've gotten so much out of the process... I just trying to give back a little
pam Posted April 30, 2009 Report Posted April 30, 2009 I happen to like being challenged. As long as I know what my challenge is.
applepansy Posted April 30, 2009 Report Posted April 30, 2009 I happen to like being challenged. As long as I know what my challenge is.Respectful challenge is GREAT. Disrespect isn't.
Hemidakota Posted April 30, 2009 Report Posted April 30, 2009 Sorry - I missed the point. You need to revisits President Lee's statement that was used as a reference here.
Hemidakota Posted April 30, 2009 Report Posted April 30, 2009 (edited) OK.Usually as far as I can remember, most men who had a personal visitation by God and sent on a mission were referred to as a prophet weather set apart in the office of a prophet or not.Bro. RudickNow that is a interesting statement. You know Rudick, GOD does still speak today to HIS children [considered the Morning Stars], with personal visitation. Now, does that constitute them as prophets also? Even though, it is only a few of them, but unknown to the church [media attention] and its membership. Edited April 30, 2009 by Hemidakota

I would probably be surprised, IF you stated who your target audience is. Just because your posts engender "lots of passion, both pro and con" doesn't make those posters your target. Unless your motive is to just be argumentative.I think your trying hard to be a provacateur. Sadly that doesn't work well for constructive discussion.
Guest Posted April 30, 2009 Report Posted April 30, 2009 Okay, this probably belongs in a different thread, but I'll just put it here for now until Snow tells me to stop hijacking his thread... I'm trying to understand the different personalities at play here: 1.) Snow - logical thinker, outspoken (or is, outwritten, hah!), will argue with or without tact, and will not take crap from anybody. 2.) FunkyTown - doesn't like snow. doesn't like tactless arguments. passive agressive, I think. 3.) HemiDakota - close to a scripture expert, expresses predictions of the future, gets visits from... not quite sure who, Heavenly Father? 4.) Bro Rudick - sounds like he's a scriptorian. Lots of knowledge about the gospel. 5.) applepansy and Connie - generally nice guy/gal and just wants everybody to get along 6.) Anatess - Filipino living in Florida, english only a tertiary language, having a hard time applying her communication methods (including those learned in debate class) and her assertiveness training in an internet forum. I think it's because the rules are completely different in an anonymous forum, or that there are no rules of etiquette here. But, I'm learning fast and will soon get used to this. So, carry on... I'm actually beginning to see the "nuggets of wisdom" in these threads...

I'm actually beginning to see the "nuggets of wisdom" in these threads...I have to correct your misconception. Thank you for suggesting I'm generally nice however. I usually put my foot in my mouth and offend people. We never agree 100% of the time. People do not get along and I certainly do not expect them to. Getting along in an online forum makes for very boring threads. :)I would like deliberate baiting, condesencion and disrespect to be left out of threads so that constructive discussion and debate can continue. I would like to see good communication skills used.Deliberate disrepect spoils the fun.
