I sent my papers in over a month ago now. I'm patiently waiting, it's taking forever.... I'll let you guys know where I'm sent as soon as I find out. But if it's not today I'm calling up the President to see what's up. :-P

Looks like they really thought long and hard about it huh? I'm glad it finally came - the waiting game is no fun! Thanks for sharing that with us. Congrats! I hope it's amazing!

Thanks! It was about 6 weeks for me. I'm really grateful to be able to accept this call. I'm so excited to serve. :-)

P.S. I really like the quote in your signature.

We have the same birthday (although I'm old enough to be your mother ;)).

Happy birthday in advance, and best wishes for the mission!

Yeah, I taught English with ILP for 4 months in 2007 in a city called Voronezh about 500 km South of Moscow.

That's awesome! It always amazes me how the pieces of our lives fit together in the end, when in the beginning we have NO idea where we're being led.

Okay let me wipe the tears from my eyes so I can see what I'm posting. I honestly got teary eyed watching your video. Congratulations on your call.

I have some questions. What is the protocol for Farewells now? Do Missionaries still get a Farewell, who can talk and can there be a get together later?

I don't know the official answer to that, but I understand that there was some sort of notice given by out leaders regarding missionary farewells. I believe people were going overboard in dedicating sacraments meetings to the missionary about to leave with slideshows and all, so that has obviously been discouraged. But in my experience it is still very customary to have the missionary-to-be speak, sometimes along with a family member or 2. I think the key is that the sacrament meeting should not be about the young man, it just features him and is about standard topics.

It's never against the rules for members to have a "get together." ;-) There just must be food. With approval from the Bishop or Branch President, there shouldn't be a problem having it in the meeting house either.
