ruthiechan Posted July 19, 2009 Report Posted July 19, 2009 I found this list. I've had it since high school seminary. Unfortunately there aren't any scriptural references, and I am not sure if it's actually a complete list. I thought it'd be a neat activity for us to find the sources and see if we've missed anything and to discuss certain aspects of them, like which ones have come to pass and which are upon us, and yet to come etc. As we discuss it I'll make updates to the list. :) 1: Great Apostasy 2: Light of Christ - to live 3: Discovery of Printing Press - 1440 4: Protestant Reformation 5: Discovery of America 6: Colonization of America 7: Bible translation 8: Latter day revelation begins 9: Coming forth of the Book of Mormon 10: Opposition to the Book of Mormon 11: Restoration of the Priesthood 12: Restoration of the Gospel 13: Messenger to Precede 2nd coming 14: Church and kingdom set up again 15: Church growth 16: Gather of Israel 17: 10 tribes to Return 18: Times of Gentiles fulfilled 19: Judah returns to Jerusalem 20: Jews begin to believe in Christ 21: Latter day temples 22: Lord to come suddenly to the Temple 23: Genealogy research 24: Persecution of Saints 25: Persecution of Jews 26: Gospel to all the world 27: Worldly knowledge to increase 28: Scientific progress 29: Disease 30: Elements in commotion 31: Disasters 32: Strikes, anarchy, violence 33: Wickedness 34: Spirit ceases to strive with the wicked 35: No peace 36: Angels reaping 37: Wars and rumors of wars 38: Economic trouble 39: Apostate 40: False churches 41: Refusal of men to believe in signs 42: Signs on earth and in heaven 43: Lamanites to blossom 44: Gather of Adam-Ondi-Ahman 45: Final great war 46: Sorrow and fear 47: Fall of great and abominable church 48: Two LDS Prophets killed 49: Wicked to stubble 50: Final restitution 51: Christ to reign Quote

havejoy Posted July 19, 2009 Report Posted July 19, 2009 #30 Elements in commotion. What does it mean? Quote
deseretgov Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 I understand it to mean storms, tsunamis, earthquakes, seasons happening at strange times, etc. Quote
tuxmoneh Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 The list is pretty good and some things would probably need a little more clarification. I'll only point out and clarify on some of the items, but I would have to pull out some of my old second coming notes for some decent scriptural references. I basically made this post off of deseretgov which did a good job turning the list into some form of a chronology and I agree with most of his assessments. 2. Light of Christ - to live [ Probably refers to parable of 10 virgins and the need to be prepared and attentive to the holy ghost ] 3-4, 7 are probably in preparation to the restoration, but i doubt there is much scriptural reference for them if any. 7 Most likely refers to Nephi's vision of the coming forth of the Holy Bible. 13 Messenger to precede second coming [Refers to Joseph Smith preparing the way for Christ's return. Malachi 3] 14 Church and kingdom set up again [ refers to the Kingdom of God on earth being set up which has occurred and to the Kingdom of God in heaven which will occur when Christ returns ] 18 Times of Gentiles fulfilled [ 1 Nephi 13:42 and 15:13 The Gospel first went to the Jews then to the Gentiles and in these latter days the Gentiles are to receive the Gospel first then the Gospel will go to the Jews. ] 19 Judah returns to Jerusalem [ Exactly as it says, the tribe of Judah is to return to Jerusalem and gather before the second coming. It has occurred and is currently occurring] 39 Apostate [ i am clueless ] 49 Wicked to stubble [ at the second coming the wicked and proud are to be burned as stubble. Malachi 4 ] 50 Final Restitution [ Probably refering to Acts 3:21 ? which signifies the restoration of all things, which is still occurring ] Quote
pam Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 I can't even begin to read the yellow print. Quote
Palerider Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 I can't even begin to read the yellow print. could it be the age of your eyes.....perhaps.....LOL!!!!!!!!!!! Quote
Seanette Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 I had a lot of trouble with the yellow too. Not enough contrast with the background. Quote
jameslentz Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 just click and drag over the yellow and it will highlight with blue and the words will become visible...almost like magic :) Quote
pam Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 Yes I know that. But that takes more time than necessary. Quote
Seanette Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 And is a pain on a notebook's touchpad. Just write legibly in the first place, instead of playing fancy games with colors. Quote
deseretgov Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 There they're green now. Is that better? Sorry, I didn't think of green in the first place. Quote

RainbowTrigger Posted July 21, 2009 Report Posted July 21, 2009 (edited) 2 LDS prophets to be killed? D&C 77:15 makes me think they will be practicing Judaism... Or will they be LDS prophets who are descendants of the tribe of Judah called to preach in Jerusalem? Anyone have any insight on this? The prophecy is not entirely clear to me given the scriptures that I know of. The only places in the scriptures that talk about this that I know of are: Revelation 11: 2-12 and D&C 77:15 Anyone want to fill me in on this? Edited July 21, 2009 by RainbowTrigger Quote
Seanette Posted July 21, 2009 Report Posted July 21, 2009 There they're green now. Is that better? Sorry, I didn't think of green in the first place.Darker would be better. More contrast with the background color is a good thing. Quote
Hemidakota Posted July 21, 2009 Report Posted July 21, 2009 The two prophets are LDS Apostles that will be assigned to that region after the missionaries are called home. Ruthie, excellent list... Quote
pam Posted July 21, 2009 Report Posted July 21, 2009 Thanks Hemi. That's what I've always been taught as well. Quote
deseretgov Posted July 22, 2009 Report Posted July 22, 2009 Aren't two members of the first presidency already incharge of that area? Quote
Hemidakota Posted July 22, 2009 Report Posted July 22, 2009 Not really....it is usually assigned to one member of the twelve and a three members of the Seventies. Quote
ruthiechan Posted July 22, 2009 Author Report Posted July 22, 2009 Thanks Hemi. Deseretgov, I have questions about some of the ones you highlighted in green as well. I really wish my seminary teacher had provided references as well. Also, how do we know when the spirit will cease to strive with the wicked? At what point does the Holy Ghost give up? Quote
Snow Posted July 22, 2009 Report Posted July 22, 2009 I'll ask a 2nd time...This is supposed to be a list of WHAT times? Is it supposed to be a list of things that are to occur before some future event? Quote
Moksha Posted July 22, 2009 Report Posted July 22, 2009 Is it supposed to be a list of things that are to occur before some future event? Maybe something to do with the Mayan Calendar, when the moon is in the seventh house and Jupiter aligns with Mars. Quote
