Generally_Me Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 You've seen those big-headed puppy pictures, right? That's what this made me think of. Also a Bratz doll. I don't see why anyone took that picture seriously. Quote
beefche Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 bytor, your comment reminded me of when Glenn Beck had Janice Dickinson on his program (when he was on cnn). He told her that he thinks models are way too thin and whenever he sees her he wants to say, "eat a sandwich!" She said to bring her one and she would eat it. So, they brought her a sandwich, she took a nibble and Beck ridiculed her for her nibble. He said he likes real women who can take a big bite of a sandwich without being self conscious. It was actually really funny and she took it as humor. Quote
Honor Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 Reminds me of a Tim Burton character...You know it's bad when the corpse bride chick looks curvy compared to the Ralph Lauren model. Quote
talisyn Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 If she was 7 years old she'd be taken away from her parents for child neglect Quote
Misshalfway Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 That cover is totally airbrushed. 200 bucks they made her look skinnier than she really is. Quote
TruthSeekerToo Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 I truly hope that she is healthy and that pic is altered. Speaking as one thin woman to another... Quote
Generally_Me Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 There's no way it's a real picture. Has anyone here ever met a woman that had a bigger head than pelvis? Bigger hands than butt? Aerodynamics would result in her falling over when whe tries to walk. Here's another ad I was told was with the same model.http://www.blogherbaldiet.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/03/ralph-lauren.jpg Quote

That's the problem with these magazines. They take people who for the most part look just fine (if a little underfed) and make them into Revenge of the Stick People with Amazing Mammaries. It's that attitude that made me stop buying magazines. That was about when Vogue said they wouldn't feature Oprah on the cover because she 'didn't fit their image' (too chubby). I understand she's been on the cover since, but their comment has always stuck with me Quote
Generally_Me Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 Revenge of the Stick People with Amazing Mammaries Love it! Quote

Bini Posted October 15, 2009 Report Posted October 15, 2009 Here's an excellent ad from Dove showing what is done for fashion magazines.YouTube - EvolutionI try to use just Dove products because of their bringing awareness to this very issue. Anyway, seen that vid quite awhile back and it definitely opens your eyes a bit to the whole photoshopping process :]And 120lbs at 5'10 is crazy thin! My heaviest is like 115lbs at 5 foot. Quote
Connie Posted October 16, 2009 Report Posted October 16, 2009 Was the photoshopped Ralph Lauren model fired for being overweight? - Fashion + Beauty on ShineWell, they must have a different calculation system than what everyone else uses. According to BMI she is underweight. Quote
unixknight Posted October 16, 2009 Report Posted October 16, 2009 I, for one, do not understand the motive for this. I mean, do people REALLY find that extreme waif look attractive? Do the marketing people for these magazines really believe this is what gets mens' attention? And why aren't more guys out there speaking up? I find this incredibly unattractive, not only because these are obviously not human proportions, but because even when not airbrushed most supermodels these days are ridiculously thin. I find healthy looking women attractive. I think most men do. And if we're talking more than just healthy but into the chubby range, that's fine too. Still way more attractive than these waifs. I'd much rather be married to an overweight woman than one I can count the ribs on from twenty paces. Curves, people! Quote
