I got rice cooking in the microwave

Got a three day beard I don't plan to shave

And it's a goofy thing but I just gotta say

Hey I'm doing alright

Yeah I think I'll make me some homemade soup

Feelin pretty good and that's the truth

It's neither drink nor drug induced

No I'm just doin alright

And it's a great day to be alive

I know the sun's still shinin when I close my eyes

There's some hard times in the neigborhood

But why can't every day be just this good?

This song sounds so good when drunk people sing it!

Georgia Tech Drumline - Cadence

Feeling nostalgic tonight while I read about upcoming plans for the 40th anniversary of my high school. This year will be the 40th class graduating. Amazing I was in the 4th. Lots of plans being made with even the possibility of performing again with the drill team during the pregame show.

I was in drill team and LOVED marching in parades. I'm such a fan of cadences and can still beat the cadence that we marched to in high school.

"So wave goodbye to a time

That you once believed was everything

I’m ready to live

I’m ready to dream

I’m ready for fear, love and everything between

Don’t tell me I’m right

Don’t tell me I’m wrong

Just tell me I’m strong enough for one more song

And this could be the one to say it right

Bringing warmth into the night

I’m going for broke, but I’ve got hope

Yeah, I’ve got hope."

I kind of cheated on this topic. I don't have a playlist. However, my profile page has a list of the 5 most current songs i've listened to from my pc / ipod. I just played "It Hurts to be in Love" by Gino Vannelli. It will be listed in my profile for a couple of days.

Perfect for what I want to listen to is "Mondo Bongo," by Joe Strummer and the Mescalaros, which was actually the first song to come up on the random play.

A couple of songs work for what's on my mind. "Everything is Everything," by Lauren Hill; "Innocent," by Our Lady Peace (though I have the AI David Cook version on my playlist); and "New Soul," by Yael Naim.

Interesting timing on this thread. We're currently in another state, attending the parole hearing of BIL. We're sitting on the victim's side of the aisle - i.e. the side opposite all my wife's family. Probably not many people might be able to think of this as a good thing, but the song running through our heads are Pink's "So What?"

Oh great. Now I'll have the parody Psycho Chicken running through my head the entire day. And now I'll have to come up with some witty rejoinder about your avatar.

Make you feel my love by Adele

When the rain is blowing in your face

And the whole world is on your case

I would offer you a warm embrace

To make you feel my love

When the evening shadows

and the stars appear

And there is no one there to dry your tears

I could hold you for a million years

To make you feel my love

I know you haven't made your mind up yet

but I would never do you wrong

Ive known it from the moment that we met

No doubt in my mind where you belong

Id go hungry id go black and blue

Id go crawling down the avenue

No theres nothing that I wouldn't do

To make you feel my love

The storms are raging on the rolling sea

and on the highway of regret

though winds of change are blowing wild and free

You ain't seen nothing like me yet

I could make you happy

Make your dreams come true

nothing that

i wouldn't do

To make you feel my love

Go to the ends of the earth for you

to make you feel my love

I heard that on my Pandora station for the first time yesterday. I didn't even know she'd covered it. I'm most familiar with Garth Brooks' version, but even that is still a cover. Bob Dylan wrote it.

I had no idea Bob Dylan wrote that song. I will have to youtube his version. I am a big fan of Adele, I like her voice. I heard Garth Brooks singing it a few weeks ago and thought wow who is that singing, nice but I like adele better.

I have found that, as a general rule, given two (or more) different versions of a song, I typically like best whichever version I heard first. There are a few exceptions to that. I actually started a thread on it awhile back here: http://www.lds.net/forums/general-discussion/31049-cover-up.html

[Verse 1]

Some of the smartest dummies

Can't read the language of Egyptian mummies

An' a fly go a moon

And can't find food for the starving tummies

Pay no mind to the youths

Cause it's not like the future depends on it

But save the animals in the zoo

Cause the chimpanzee dem a make big money

This is how the media pillages

On the TV the picture is

Savages in villages

And the scientist still can't explain the pyramids, huh

Evangelists making a living on the videos of ribs of the little kids

Stereotyping the image of the images

And this is what the image is

You buy a khaki pants

And all of a sudden you say a Indiana Jones

An' a thief out gold and thief out the scrolls and even the buried bones

Some of the worst paparazzis I've ever seen and I ever known

Put the worst on display so the world can see

And that's all they will ever show

So the ones in the west

Will never move east

And feel like they could be at home

Dem get tricked by the beast

But a where dem ago flee when the monster is fully grown?

Solomonic linage whe dem still can't defeat and them coulda never clone

My spiritual DNA that print in my soul and I will forever Own Lord

[Verse 2]

Huh, we born not knowing, are we born knowing all?

We growing wiser, are we just growing tall?

Can you read thoughts? can you read palms?

Huh, can you predict the future? can you see storms, coming?

The Earth was flat if you went too far you would fall off

Now the Earth is round if the shape change again everybody woulda start laugh

The average man can't prove of most of the things that he chooses to speak of

And still won't research and find out the root of the truth that you seek of

Scholars teach in Universities and claim that they're smart and cunning

Tell them find a cure when we sneeze and that's when their nose start running

And the rich get stitched up, when we get cut

Man a heal dem broken bones in the bush with the wed mud

Can you read signs? can you read stars?

Can you make peace? can you fight war?

Can you milk cows, even though you drive cars? huh

Can you survive, Against All Odds, Now?
