I hope everyone enjoyed indulging in the evil and satanic ritual of Halloween. I know we did!

I indulged in way too much sugar for the first time in months. It was a good reminder of why I don't want to eat like that anymore. I still don't feel well. Other than that it was a really pleasant evening. The weather was mild and a lot of people were out. I love seeing the kids, talking with neighbors we don't see very often, and watching my kids run around all excited. Hubby and I take turns taking the kids around/staying home to pass out candy. One family in our ward had a fire going in their driveway and were making cotton candy and hot chocolate. Not much evil to see in any of that. :)

Had a fun Halloween at work, came home, got in jammies, stuck a super-powered military glowstick in the jack-o-lantern, played a little Skyrim, read the new Cressida Cowell book, watched "White Noise", passed out candy to all seven groups of trick-or-treaters... yeah, it was a good night!

Two things about Halloween - as a observation.

#1. While I was out and about, I pondered, silently, and wondered in so many cases if what was being worn in public was a costume or regular attire. We live in such strange times.

#2. Perhaps someone can explain to me why so many ladies and teenage girls (seems to be the most popular) dress in (pardon my expression - but I do no know how to put this mildly) trashy, slutty costumes.

Homemade cool costumes for kids very interested in modesty - check.

Boo at the Zoo - check.

Church trunk-or-treat - check.

Trick-or-treat at my work (enough candy to last to Easter) - check.

Porch party with neighbors - check.

Scare slightly more screams out of the daughters than usual - check.

Yeah, good Halloween.

I agree with the 'sluuty costume' thing. I figure, hey it's the one day a year you can kinda get away with it, right?

We'll be celebrating Halloween on Sunday, which is when our city rescheduled trick-or-treating to, due to Sandy. Just got candy on clearance at Target this morning, along with a couple of Halloween shirts for my daughter for next year. The best score of this morning though, was a Disney-branded Princess Merida dress for only $10 because it was in the costume section instead of the toy section. Wahoo!

Turned off the lights and watched TV -- we don't participate in Halloween. Not that I think its evil, I'm just cheap.:lol:

I should have been cheap. Now we're stuck with a huge bag of peanut M&Ms and Snickers... whatever shall I do?

Last night was awesome.

My 9 year old dressed as the Phantom of the Opera (he looked soooo elegant!) and my 11-year-old dressed as himself. LOL. Actually, he had on his Silvery Tapout T-shirt with a black leather jacket and black jeans, spiked his hair up and had people guess who he is. He had a masquerade mask to go with it but he didn't bother putting it on. Answers ranged from Yu-gi-Oh to Sharkboy... He loved it.

We had waaaaay more kids than last year and we ran out of candy by 9PM. Not a single one were dressed slutty. And there were more home-made costumes than store-bought ones. One of the kids in from our ward had a white cardboard covering his entire body with his head showing through a square cut-out from the cardboard. The cardboard was designed like a YouTube page. So, it looked like his face was a youtube video. It was cool. One other kid had his head in a box and made it look like his head was on TV...

Kids only had 6 hours sleep before they had to get up for school... so they're feeling like zombies today. I have to say, what's evil about Halloween? My son's teacher who scheduled a Chapter test today. My son, of course, did not study...

It's nice to know that I'm not the only one. :)
