Guest Posted January 12, 2014 Report Posted January 12, 2014 and whatever else you may want to share. What have you seen on Netflix lately, and what did you think of it?The Good: A documentary called, "Serving Life". About a program in a serving-life prison where inmates are chosen and trained as hospice workers for dying inmates. Very heartwarming. The Bad: All of the wonderfully awful B and C Christmas movies I watched over the holidays; a tradition I enjoy. The Ugly: "Orange is the New Black". Sounded interesting, nothing but filth. The Unexpected: "Bronies" Documentary. Self-explanatory.Other: I've been watching a lot of "Major Dad" on Hulu this week while I recover. It's refreshing to see a sitcom with a male head of household who is honorable, competent, and respected. I also enjoy getting a little peek into military life, however fictional it may be. Quote
Palerider Posted January 12, 2014 Report Posted January 12, 2014 I like Netflix ......their Christmas movies were horrible. Lol Quote
prisonchaplain Posted January 13, 2014 Report Posted January 13, 2014 The monthly rate is much better than cable. Only Amazon Prime is cheaper (but clunkier). Quote

Guest Posted January 13, 2014 Report Posted January 13, 2014 Amazon Prime's interface is awful. But we use it anyway, because we have so much shipped that it pays for itself. Quote
NeuroTypical Posted January 13, 2014 Report Posted January 13, 2014 Kids all watching Transformers Prime (and a bazillion TP-based fan flicks on youtube)I watched all seasons of Fringe last year. Have many things in the queue, not much time for any of it.The coolest things I've seen on Netflix are Ink and Phoebe's Wonderland.I haven't watched the Bronies documentary. Quote
Wingnut Posted January 13, 2014 Report Posted January 13, 2014 The Bad: All of the wonderfully awful B and C Christmas movies I watched over the holidays; a tradition I enjoy.I like Netflix ......their Christmas movies were horrible. LolWe liked "Snow" and "Snow 2: Brain Freeze" here in our house. The Ugly: "Orange is the New Black". Sounded interesting, nothing but filth.I thought it sounded good at first, and of course it had fantastic reviews. Then I read some specifics, and decided that it sounded pretty foul. So I opted out. Glad I did. Quote
Wingnut Posted January 13, 2014 Report Posted January 13, 2014 The good: My Girlfriend's Boyfriend.Cute, cheesy, sappy, unexpected twist, set in Sugar House. Also, totally clean. Quote
dahlia Posted January 13, 2014 Report Posted January 13, 2014 I finally got to see 'Blackfish' on Netflix the other night. Well worth staying up 'til 4 a.m. I'd say Netflix is great for this kind of documentary.Hitler, Hitler, Hitler - all the Hitler, Nazi bigwigs, and WWII you ever wanna see. Also good for TV shows you missed.Very good for food-related documentaries like 'Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead.' These types of shows might be an 'ugly' depending on your viewpoint. : )I probably don't use Netflix as much as I could, but my son uses it all the time. I have a smart TV that gets Netflix, and that has been nice. Quote
mirkwood Posted January 13, 2014 Report Posted January 13, 2014 Most of the movies I have listed in the movie thread have been watched on Netflix. The reviews are over there. Quote
applepansy Posted January 13, 2014 Report Posted January 13, 2014 Eowyn I agree completely with you about Orange in the New Black. It could have been a good movie. I don't need to hear and see filth to imagine how hard it is in a women's prison. It could have had a positive message but I didn't get that far. What bothers me about Netlfix is that there are so many movies we can't see. I know licensing and all that. Quote
Wingnut Posted January 13, 2014 Report Posted January 13, 2014 What bothers me about Netlfix is that there are so many movies we can't see. I know licensing and all that. You can...you just have to have a disc option on your subscription. I think I might be the only customer left who still does, though. Quote
rameumptom Posted January 13, 2014 Report Posted January 13, 2014 Not on Netflix or any of the other sites (Amazon, Hulu Plus) right now. I can see many films and shows without them. CBS.com shows all their stuff online. I am watching Star Trek Voyager series from the start. There are lots of free stuff from Hulu, Youtube, etc., to see, as well. Saw "Ernest Saves Christmas" for free on Youtube for Christmas. Used my Google Chromecast and launched it onto the big screen. Also watch a lot of music vids, like Lindsey Stirling's violin videos, etc. Quote
Windseeker Posted January 13, 2014 Report Posted January 13, 2014 I watched the first few minutes of Orange is the New Black and to me it's pretty much porn. I watched another show produced by Netflix about werewolves and I also couldn't get thru the first few minutes without it showing sex. I think I'll avoid anything Netflix produces. My wife and I just discovered Sherlock and love it. Wish there were more episodes. Quote
Backroads Posted January 13, 2014 Report Posted January 13, 2014 We watched the Orange is the New Black pilot and never watched anymore. Horrible. We loved their old scary movie collection back in October. We recently stumbled on the BBC series "Merlin" watched it obsessively till we were done, and now feel an emptiness in our lives. Very cute show. Quote

MorningStar Posted January 13, 2014 Report Posted January 13, 2014 We just started watching the show Leverage and that's pretty entertaining. Ex-cons now con the bad guys to help people. We love Psych and have been waiting for new episodes. My husband loves to introduce the kids to old ones like Leave it to Beaver and we watched all of the Cosby episodes before it was removed. My kids loved that show!I wish they would get Little House on the Prairie. Quote
