Sunday21 Posted December 2, 2015 Report Posted December 2, 2015 I wish...that the data that I am working on at work would gel into a significant result so that I could stop work at a decent hour and go to the gym. That my students would stop dressing like prostitutes and homeless people during job interviews so they could get the jobs they need ( my poor rust belt students have never had a college grad in their family so they have no idea what to wear, the people who are paid to teach them what to do are too hidebound by a culture of political correctness to tell them. I told one young woman, wearing an off the shoulder dress that she could not wear that to a job interview and she cried), I wish that the economy in my country would improve so my students would find jobs. bytebear and Anddenex 2 Quote

Guest Posted December 2, 2015 Report Posted December 2, 2015 I wish (and hope) that the application my husband just finished building will be not only acceptable to the client, but marketable in other areas and allow him to make some real money off of something he built. I wish the calories and fat in any kind of chocolate were just a little bit negative. I wish I were as skilled at the piano as I wanted to be. Quote

Guest Posted December 2, 2015 Report Posted December 2, 2015 (edited) This sounds like a fun topic. :) The thing I find about wishes in stories is that they are often just one-time things. If I had wishes, they should be fairly permanent things and wishes that keep on giving. Sunday's second two wishes are good examples. I'm all for Eowyn's wish on chocolate. I'm going to have to make two lists. One for the real world type stuff that could happen. One for the fantasy world if anything could happen. REAL WORLD:I wish I had perfect charity.I wish I did not have to worry about the maintenance aspects of life to spend time on spiritual efforts and how to make the world a better place.I wish I knew a lot more than I do. FANTASY WORLDI wish I had an endless mine of some valuable commodity such as gold or diamonds.I wish I had the powers of the Martian Manhunter.I wish I had a functional (for me) seer stone. Vort Posted December 2, 2015 Report Posted December 2, 2015 FANTASY WORLDI wish I had a functional (for me) seer stone. The seer stones were/are very much a real world thing. Quote
Guest MormonGator Posted December 2, 2015 Report Posted December 2, 2015 The seer stones were/are very much a real world thing. I agree totally, but I think Carb was just saying he wants one too. To me seer stones show that Smith was maturating and growing as a prophet. I have no problem them whatsoever Quote
Guest Posted December 2, 2015 Report Posted December 2, 2015 The seer stones were/are very much a real world thing.Yes, I'm aware. And I was wondering if anyone would call me on that. But the likelihood of my finding one that would work for me is infinitesimal. So, it may as well be fantasy. Charity: It's a long term project. But I hope to achieve it before I die.Maintenance: I guess that will be real at retirement age.Knowledge: Hey, I'm hanging around with you and others on this forum. I'm constantly learning. Quote

Sunday21 Posted December 4, 2015 Author Report Posted December 4, 2015 I am doing better on my wishes. I have persuaded Student Services to put together a slide show on how to dress for interviews. My statistical results are looking better. The economy here is still bad but economists hope that if our currency continues to slide that exports will improve. Not too shabby! Quote
